Wow! This was a World Series win 108 years in the making!

Warning: Spoilers
Just an unbelievable Extra Innings game 7 at Progressive Field, Cleveland Ohio, between the American League Cleveland Indians and the National League Chicago Cubs.

Wow! Now who said that baseball was losing its fan base? Nobody and I mean nobody could ever have written a better script than what we baseball fans saw on the baseball diamond at Progressive Field that started at 8 P.M. on Wednesday November 02, 2016, and did not end until 12:47 A.M. on Thursday November 03, 2016 in the bottom of the 10th inning. Heck the 7th and deciding game even included a 10th inning rain delay which extended the game to 4 hours and 28 minutes of game 7 dramatics.

The 2016 World Series between the home field advantage American League Cleveland Indians and the National Leagues Chicago Cubs was nothing short of a good old fashioned barn burner. It really doesn't matter whether you are an Indians fan or a Cubs fan, there were so many highlights over this 7 game extra innings 2016 World Series for both teams loyal fan bases to thoroughly enjoy and gain respect for the quality of baseball played by both teams.

By the end of game 4, the Cleveland Indians held a 3-1 game advantage and only needed one more win over the next three games (if needed). The Cubs would not fold though and they came back to win game 5, then they won game 6 and in game 7 they at one time held a 4 run lead, lost it, came back again and held a 3 run lead, lost it again when the Cleveland Indians came back again in the bottom of the 8th inning and scored 3 runs to tie the game 6-6. No one scored in the ninth inning so extra innings were going to be required.

Right from the very first batter, Chicago Cubs center fielder Dexter Fowler hit a home run and the fans signs came out..."GAME ON!!" This was a game 7 for the ages that will be talked about right into the next century and probably beyond. Both teams battled, made some errors, the skies opened up and after the 9th inning was completed and the game was tied 6-6 we had a rain delay.

Chicago Cubs catcher David Ross nicknamed "grand daddy" who is rapidly nearing in on age 40 became the oldest player in World Series history to hit a game 7 home run in the 6th inning to reinforce a 3 run lead at the time. But the Cleveland Indians also had some magic in their bats and none any better than outfielder Rajai Davis's 2 run homer in the 8th inning to get Cleveland back into the game 7. In the 8th inning the Indians were able to manufacture 3 runs to tie the game up and conquer the 100 mile plus Cubs closer Aroldis Chapman pitches, including Rajai Davis's 2 run homer. This is where the TV cameras panned the fans in their seats and on other sports heroes such as basketballs MVP Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James who was freaking out after his home team tied the game 6-6. What a barn burner!

But again, in the top of the 10th inning the Cubs came back and manufactured 2 runs of their own to take an 8-6 lead. So it was now up to the Indians to come back for their umpteenth time in this game 7 finale and they were able to bring in one run to shorten the Cubs lead to 8-7. First, Cubs reliever Carl Edwards Jr. (a 48th round pick) was on the mound for the next two outs, then reliever Mike Montgomery was called in to the game for the final Indians out and finally after a 108 year drought of wishing and hoping the Chicago Cubs fans were rewarded with their 2016 world series win. Their first world series win in over a century of playing professional baseball in the great city of Chicago.

After the game the sportscasters talked to two die hard Cubs fans, namely Hollywood actors John Cusack and Bill Murray who travelled with the team to Cleveland's Progressive Field to personally witness the Cubs world series 2016 win. Progressive Field can hold 35,255 fans, but as the decades pass us by I am sure there will be hundreds of thousands of baseball fans who will categorically say they can remember every inning, every twist and turn of this game 7....because they were there for this epic battle. An 8-7 10th inning win by the Chicago Cubs over the Cleveland Indians by overcoming all odds and winning three consecutive games to take the 7th and deciding game.

This was a defining moment for both ball clubs and should go down as one of the greatest 7 game World Series battle of all time. A game for the ages, but more a 7 game world series for all baseball fans.

Mrs. Shullivan and I cannot wait for April 2017 when the new season starts all over again. Take me out to the ball game!!!!!
