It may live in the attic...
bhsfacebook28 September 2018
It may live in the attic but it's terrible all over the house. Lots of intersecting stories of unlikeable and poorly acted characters with no payoff. Just back away slowly.

Nothing much sticks

Warning: Spoilers
IT LIVES IN THE ATTIC is a bad indie horror film that fails to live up to the potential of the title. The story sees a large amateur cast going through the motions but failing to make much stick. They're mostly just hanging around in and around a house as with many indies. In terms of horror, there are a few bloodied bodies but that's about it. I found the consistency lacking and the whole film quite unbelievable.

A friend of mine illegally downloaded this (yes illegally) and boy if there ever was a case for justifying the use of illegal downloads then this is it.

Anyone who has paid money to see this amateurish, pointless student project, should be taking legal action to get their money back.

It's bad, how bad I hear you ask? Bad even for a student film that obviously cost about $20 to produce.

If you enjoy watching home movies with people who can't act, special effects that are just that "special", camera work that is simply a dude running around with his mobile phone on record and lighting that jumps around all over the place, from bad to almost unwatchable, then by all means, give it a try, otherwise, avoid it at all costs.

Garbage!

Worse than Awful
claudio_carvalho18 September 2017
"It Lives in the Attic" is an amateurish very low-budget production that should be rated in IMDb worse than awful. The messed, bizarre and senseless direction, story, screenplay and edition are incredibly bad and the viewer sees scenes totally disconnected that does not make any sense. The "actors" and "actresses" were cast among the ugliest people without any talent in United States. Sorry but the only reason to watch this crap to the very ending is to see how far the pretentious writer and director would go. My vote is one (awful) since it is not possible to rate this garbage lower than that.

The horror version of The Room
ruhullalam13 September 2017
Sorry couldn't spend my life watching all this. It took about 10-15 minutes of bad acting, poor pacing, unnecessary camera shots, poor sound design and lack of atmosphere for me to give up on this.

I'm sorry I couldn't give this more time to this, it was bordering on comedy on how bad it all was put together.

Confusing and Hard To Watch. Horrible in literally every way.
ginglederf25 September 2018
Firstly, I'm impressed that anyone shelled out $1000 on this dumpster fire. The whole thing has horrible HDLR that makes it almost impossible to watch. It's like watching a movie through a bad instagram filter. I'm pretty sure the editing was done in i-movie, even the fonts are amatuar. And although cheap and amatuar doesn't always mean bad, this movie is atrocious in every other way imaginable.

I see a couple other reviews saying it's good because you can't figure out the mystery, but that isn't because it's well written. It's because the plot is non existent and you have no idea whats going on. I literally could not tell you what that movie is about. I'm not even sure what the mystery was. There were stories woven into it but most of them didn't make sense when pieced together and were just confusing. Even the acting was horrible, and there was almost no dialogue.

I would say it's worth watching to make fun of, but it's not. It's almost impossible to sit through, even when I was watching it with two other people making commentary. It took us almost 3 days to watch the whole thing, because it's not just uncomfortable and confusing it's also really boring somehow. We had to keep stopping it to take breaks.

I've also seen this movie compared to A Clock Work Orange more then once, but I liked A Clock Work Orange a lot. And I would rather stab my eyes with knitting needles then be forced to sit through this again.

total mystery all the way to the end. couldn't figure it out and Im usually pretty good at that! Great acting. I really liked this movie.Im very curious as to where they shot this film. Gorgeous locations in the outdoors. Really creepy and well edited because there are flashbacks and instead of making it confusing it was very suspenseful.

So, Let's See The Attic.
masodo16 February 2017
It is always great fun to see what the good folks at Big Biting Pig Productions have unleashed upon the world in each of their annual horror productions. This year's release is their tenth movie to date. Written, directed and staring Steve Hudgins, it is titled "It Lives In The Attic" and perhaps the scariest thing about this film is that it ever lived in the mind of Steve Hudgins. You know what they say... better out than in. Oh, really?

The pre-release trailers for this film did little to reveal any more about what to expect than does the film's title; this signaled to me that the actual story line was being held close to the vest. Wishing not to take away from that spirit of mystery, a thorough review of this film is going to be little tough to do. I will say however, that it was fantastic to see Michael Coon in a leading role, all grown up and enjoying life as happy-go-lucky Andy. It was also good to see that Jessica Leonard was none the worse for wear; coming from her starring role in last years Big Biting Pig monster hit, to figure voluptuously into this tapestry of madness as Ellie, the girl next door. Steve Hudgins channeled his inner "Aqualung" in a masterful "perv"formance as the standoffish Barney.

I really don't think it is much of a stretch to say this production has crossed the line into a soft-porn classification but you may rest assured the horror is there in ample quantity to spoil the mood. Many familiar Big Biting Pig performers contribute admirably to the film and a good many of these seemed just a little too convincing when letting their freak flags fly.

Disturbing? Yes. Uncomfortable? Yes. Horrific? Oh, yeah! Honestly, I came away from this film with much the same feeling as after having first viewed Stanley Kubrick's classic "A Clockwork Orange." In fact, to my mind, I think of this as Big Biting Pig's "A Cuckoo-Clockwork Orange" (I mean this in a good way.) Steve Hudgins and the Big Biting Pig crew always seems to bring us smart, thinking-person's horror, so you will want to bring your brain; of course it will be of no great help with this one, but you will want to refer back to it as the credits begin to roll.

Best $1000 anyone ever spent

That's the budget on this film. Does it look like? Sure, and that's a good thing. Added to the disturbing ickiness of the mind that must have created it. Full disclosure, I'm a sucker for gratuitous horror - stabbing, cutting, slashing bloody mosaics are like a fine wine when I"m looking to escape. What exactly lives in the attic? You'll have to watch this bad boy to find out, but trust me, you won't be disappointed. Not for everyone, but if you're sick and twisted you'll love it! Yaaaaaay slasher movies!!

Here's how to know if you'll like it or not.
ranch70020 September 2017
It's a great movie for the right audience.

Here's a good way to know if you will like it or not.

If you like movies like Pulp Fiction, Blue Velvet, Eyes Wide Shut, Memento, and A Clockwork Orange, you will probably like this a lot.

If you hate those movies, this one probably won't work for you.

IT LIVES IN THE ATTIC is really fun and quirky horror film with a great unique twist! Listen, I'm a huge fan of this genre in general, but I specifically love a good old-fashioned mystery horror and you have to actually pay attention to how good this film is to totally get it. Spoiler... it's like a "puzzle." Sure, it's low-ish budget, but the folks who made this know how to deliver a scare, keep it creepy and tie it all up in a nice bow at the end with a refreshing twist. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and you will too... Also... IT LIVES IN THE ATTIC! Nice work!

I can't decide.

Warning: Spoilers
I just saw this on Amazon Prime, and for the time being I'm not giving any stars to this movie for the following reason: I think I know what's in the attic but I don't know if I'm correct. One of the benefits of having message boards is the ability to gauge one's own understanding of the events in a movie.

SPOILER (possibly) If I'm correct then what lives in the attic is the ability to see one's true inner nature, what one might be like if allowed to live without social mores. So in a sense, this movie moves backward rather than forward.

END SPOILER

About the stars/ratings, if I ever get a confirmation or negation on my thoughts then I'll come back and rate this movie.

Can I recommend this movie? Pft, I've no idea!
