Very strong and compelling episode
snoozejonc30 March 2021
I was gripped by this one for the riveting way the plot unfolds and the superb character development.

The story places some great moments within real life history that work well and moves the overarching show narrative forward superbly.

There are some very memorable scenes, but I can't go into deals without spoiling. Everything is mostly geared towards developing one character arc and it works perfectly. All those previous slow burning character focussed episodes pay off in what happens here.

Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell are brilliant once again.

Builds up and up and slow down.

Warning: Spoilers
Hard to believe this is the final season, as we watch the series wine down! Season six the series ends at the right time historically and with quality scripts! The Summit has Liz takes advantages of a young law degree intern. Young enough to be her son. There is a tense scene where we do not know if Liz is going to kill the youngster. Stan is asking and poking around about the Jennings. (his neighbors) Liz is begging to realize that she is being used and like Phil starts asking questions. The information LIz has contradicts what Liz's superiors tell her. Liz and Phil talk. Can Phil and Liz meet Ovlov in time? Paige is starting to wise up and wonder about Liz (mother) Liz refuse an assignment and a plot change is in the mix. The Summit episode is fast then breaks slow, then build up, suddenly has a slow break, then a climax the a slow break which creates a hypnotic rhythm. Well acted with well executed direction. Can't wait to see the next episode . Eight stars

I don't mind Stan putting together puzzle pieces but

Warning: Spoilers
I don't like that Stan is tipped off about Elizabeth perhaps being shady because she is a smoker In the late 80's literally everyone smoked. Also later on he looks them up in the database, nothing comes up on either Elizabeth or philip, if these people were spies they would of covered their tracks.

The Summit

Warning: Spoilers
It is getting a bit too confusing with who stands where in the Jennings household and what is actually happening with the USSR. Either way, the show is dropping the ball in its final season.

This "business as usual" approach the writers are taking, devoting one of the last few episodes to a random intern Elizabeth is trying to use is a mistake.

Not a bad episode, but nothing noteworthy here.

What happened to this show??

Did the writers run out of steam or were the producers rushing to finish? This is just... bad, unbelievable, and sooo drawn out. I feel like I'm watching a filler episode of my favorite anime. Think Goku charging up for a Spirit Bomb that goes on for two to three episodes. Nothing happening except yelling and the anticipation of the impending boom... or better yet... doom.

I'm so underwhelmed. The show took 5.5 seasons for some gradual character growth by Elizabeth... who has been wrong from the get go but will never admit it. Where is the screen time for the Russian characters we actually like? Why does Stan make astronomical leaps in his investigation? Everyone smoked in the late 80s. And Philip, your indecisiveness is going to get your family killed!!!

Well I always to finish a review with the positives...the production and acting was, as always, top notch....
