Classy as always but the PC acceptance of a bigamous relationship, which was then and still is illegal in Britain, is jarring to say the least. I can't believe the law abiding doctor wouldn't have had something to say about the situation, he's the one who would have to sign the birth certificate.

Warning: Spoilers
First this is the "poor Sister Monika Joan" episode that we see with each series. The character is becoming tired as she drifts off into soliloquy each time she is spoken to.
Second - I quite doubt the Brits were celebrating Soviet space accomplishments whether it be the first woman in space or the first man in a prior series. The Western World feared nuclear weapons raining down from space and hid behind NATO for protection against the USSR. While an accomplishment, caregivers would be more worried about a nuclear attack.
