Different in plot, but it still works.

Ze Tian Ji (Fighter of the Destiny) is based on a Web novel having the same name written by Maoni. They have produced not only TV series but also an animation too. Animation's name is also the same, Ze Tian Ji.

The story is quite impressive and it's so good. And also it's so long of course. But when they make it into TV series, they cut some parts and make it shorter. As a result, some things doesn't make sense and difficult to understand if you don't know the whole story.

Compared to the animation, this TV series is inferior to the animation. As I've said in above, some important parts are missing and so, it's quality becomes lower than animation. On the other hand, they added things which are not in the novel, so, you can see something fresh. You might like it if you are looking for something different from the original novel.

The main character, Chen Changsheng is very cold, serious, honest, firm and calm. But Lu Han seems to be kind of not fit with the character. He's not calm as the character from the novel. If you watched the animation, you'd see the difference. Chen Changsheng from the animation is better.

All in all, although this TV series really has so many flaws, but the performances are basically fine and special effects are good too. It really can't compare to the animation, but it still works and I kind of liked it for a certain period of time.

Fantasy, romance and Tao

This is a masterpiece for fantasy lovers! The costumes, the location, the puzzles created by ancient knowledge, the CGI effects: everything has been so carefully constructed that you will forget about the rest of the world right after the first few minutes of episode 1. It's virtually impossible to judge the acting of the crew because every single actor, whether villain, noble, hero or foe, impersonate their character so faithfully that they seem totally real! If you love fantasy tv series with a lot of magic, puzzles to solve, mystery and a pinch of very profound romance, don't miss out on this fabulous series!

It's a gem! everything about it is absolutely great, the plot, acting, cgi and character developments. As a non-chinese person this was the xianxia first project I've seen/read and it's a perfect start, still my favorite ever. especially impressed by lu han who perfectly fits the role of chen changsheng, he portrayed the character very well and the emotions were so raw and real.

Incoherent Chinese fantasy

Warning: Spoilers
While the costuming is beautiful (and apparently impervious to dirt), the sets are beautiful and good effects work, on the whole this is a meandering mess. Epic confrontations that are built up over several episodes end with a shoulder shrug, promised outcomes fizzle, main characters show up and then wander off somewhere. There must be a magic clone factory for the huge number of disposable palace guards. Fight scenes pause for extensive dialoguing. Main characters, at death's door in the morning are "fine" by midday, and you'd think after the second or third time a bad guy asks another character to take a pill, they might think twice. My wife and I started laughing when characters would respond with "I'm fine" when they were asked about serious injuries. It seems like they were writing the script as they went along.
