Without a doubt, the absolute worst picture ever made.
billherried14 October 2018
Not only do the "actors" not know their lines, they make no secret that they are reading them off of the script. This production reminds me of the caliber of acting one might expect to find in a preschool Christmas pageant. The funniest part aside from the atrocious acting is the costume of the Visitor. The dialogue is silly and the directing is even worse. One of the stupidest parts and there are many, is when the Colonel is piloting a C-47. It shows him steering the aircraft as one might steer an automobile. He never once looks forward out the windshield of the cockpit because he is looking down to read his goofy lines. This farce makes Plan Nine From Outer Space look like a cinematic achievement.

An eighth grade play
miamisonero2 November 2020
Considering all the great classic and modern sci fi movies that have been made, this has to be the worst of the worst of movies, and that is being kind. It is so obvious that the actors, for lack of a better identity, were reading their lines off cheat sheets that they held in front of themselves. I have seen better 5th grade dress rehearsals. The actors had no feeling for their character and the monotone of their voices was if they lost a bet and playing in this picture was a punishment. Since there were two husband and wife teams playing in this movie, it appears not much thought went into casting. All relatives and friends. The costumes and screen sets were not given much thought. The opening scene appeared like it was filmed in a neighbors garage, then the rest in someone's back yard.

Even if it was what it was, it wasn't much
kuzuha-206384 August 2020
Sorry, but even if this was intending to be an homage to the old science fiction B movies that I grew up watching (and still watch from time to time) this movie presented itself to me as no more than a rehearsal with most of the cast not off-book and still getting a feel for their parts.

Watching this, and I watched it all, wasn't much fun for me.

Old teachers' production of how to NOT make a high school movie?

Warning: Spoilers
I watched the whole thing on You Tube. What a waste of time. One real dumb goof what the old white-haired scientist got a haircut for the last part of the movie. Everybody who had more than one word of dialogue was reading off their clipboards. Maybe my vote of ONE out of 10 will not let so many others get fooled into watching this. It had a rating of 7.4 when I watched it. No wonder the comments on You Tube were disabled. So much of the props were homemade by, possibly, 7-year-olds. They guy that was using the box radio kept sliding moving his fingers on the big knobs, but without moving them. Must have been glued onto the box. Sharp, clear filming greatly contrasted with the very fuzzy public domain film interspersed within the movie. Lots of clothing was 2016 style, not 50s style. Have I just been hoodwinked into wasting more time warning you about this joke-of-a-movie? Oh well... Now THAT'S a deep subject.

So bad it is good

This movie is a great movie for a rainy night or hot summer night at the cottage. You can hear dialogue from many other sci-fi pictures of the 1950s. Interestingly the Air Force officer and the lady scientist and waitress in the tavern are father, mother and daughter. Like the classic Plan 9 from Outer Space it is so bad it is good. Not to be missed.

This did not do what its supporters claim it did.

Sorry, but if you think this was a successful parody, I disagree. It was a horrible film. Even if every single defect was intentional, the defects were defective. To see a better example of what you think this was, check out Sea Creatures from Outer Space.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

I have such great childhood memories of tagging along with my family either at the local theater of drive in to see science fiction movies in the fifties. Those films sure scared me.

I don't have the same fear when I watch those same movies now. But I appreciate the simple innocence of the stories produced back then. I still enjoy watching the films now. But they bring me joy for a different reason.

That's why I've added Visitor from Space to my list of fun fifties science fiction films to watch. Yes, it was released in 2016. But the creators of this fun film obviously worked extremely hard to capture the magic of those movies made now so long ago.

Pretty sad, but hilarious over & under acting.

Gotta dig that 'terrifying' alien with the scary mask and OJ gloves. Great CGI. Why is theee no snow in North, Kentucky @ Xmas?

WOW. Just WOW!

Warning: Spoilers
Visitor from Space is a fun movie for any fan of 1950's science fiction films. It seems to me that the people who made this movie knew exactly what they were doing.

There are a couple of rough reviews of Visitor from Space on this site. I suspect the movie makers are laughing about them, imaging that these reviewers are a lot like the frustrated Ivy League grad film critics who were sent by their editors to critique The Giant Claw or Stranger from Venus.

Any true fan of 1950's flying saucer movies will get a kick out of Visitor from Space!

Some folks just don't get it.
jackarnold-226874 November 2018
I rarely respond to posts from amateur "film critics". But in this particular case, I feel as if I have no choice. I have watched "Visitor from Space" multiple times and I absolutely GET what the creators were doing. In fact, the "Visitor from Space" producers make it quite clear on You Tube that they're presenting an homage to "Ed Wood-style" 50's sci fi films.

I had to laugh when I read these self-important bloviators criticizing various aspects of this fun film. Why? Because it is painfully obvious to anyone who has a clue about the true beauty of 50's sci fi films that the things that were criticized WERE DONE ON PURPOSE.

Most 50's sci fi films were produced in just a few days. The cast was typically comprised of studio contract actors who were told, "You'll be finished with your Western movie on Sunday. You will then report to Studio 8 for a sci fi film on Monday."

These wonderful 50's movies were produced on shoestring budgets with poor special effects, shaky acting, somewhat formulaic dialogue, continuity problems galore. Despite all of these wonderful films' obvious flaws, they were always a huge hit with Drive-In and Saturday matinee moviegoers. These films also included an important message about the real dangers of that time. That the true beauty of it.

Hats off to the producers of Visitor from Space. They completely captured the spirit of low-budget 50's sci fi B movies. You will get a big kick out of this movie if you have even a remote clue about that wonderful time so many years ago. If you are completely clueless . . . then just stay away.

This is a fun movie for 50s sci fi movie fans
mikesadouskas15 January 2017
Visitor from Space is a true homage to 50s flying saucer movies. The fact that the story is based on actual events is a huge plus. This film intentionally contains all of the expected characters, dialogue, b-roll and, yes, continuity issues found in even the best of those great 50s films. There is the expected conflict between the military personnel and scientists. There is also the military's efforts to suppress the media's desire to report the true nature of flying saucers. What is the mission of the alien visitor? Can the research team learn what really happened to the Kentucky Air National Guard pilot? Will the true story of what occurred in late December, 1947 ever be told? Visitor from Space gives you those answers.

How much fun is this?
patrickhendry6 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have absolutely loved golden age science fiction movies and TV series since I was a little boy. My DVD collection is loaded with these great memories.

I have amazing memories of Drive-In nights and Saturday afternoon matinees watching I Married a Monster from Outer Space, Teenagers from Outer Space, It Came from Another World, Phantom from Space, Killers from Space and dozens more.

I also enjoy several of the great sci fi TV series like The Outer Limits, Tales of Tomorrow and Science Fiction Theatre. They are loaded with great stories that any self-respecting baby boomer couldn't help but love.

I'm very happy that some folks took the time to create another film made in that fun style just a couple of years ago. Visitor from Space is a permanent fixture in the sci fi rotation I enjoy almost every weekend.

They NAILED it!
bobbybenson-358556 November 2018
I have no idea who the creators of Visitor from Space are. But they certainly understand the simple beauty of the 50's matinee Sci Fi genre. Despite all of its flaws - many of which I personally believe were done intentionally - this little film catches 50's flying saucer movie lightning in a bottle.

There are obvious references to several of that great era's movies throughout the film. If you really know the type, you will see similarities to Plan 9 from Outer Space, The Thing from Another World, The Day the Earth Stood Still, War of the Worlds and several others.

Visitor from Space is the perfect way for a 50's flying saucer movie aficionado to spend a lazy "matinee" afternoon.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
lindacronyn4 November 2018
I really love the flying saucer movies from the 1950's. They bring back fond memories of mom and dad piling me and my brothers and sisters in to the family station wagon for a Saturday night at the Drive in. Visitor from Space would have been one of those movies my whole family would have really enjoyed.

Two things in this movie really jumped out at me. I really like the scene of the two backwoods hunters who have the first encounter with the alien. I sure was nervous waiting to see whether or not they got vaporized like the three poor guys from War of the Worlds.

Speaking of War of the Worlds, I noticed how Visitor from Space included a salute to that film's producer George Pal. If you listen closely, the opening of the bar scene that includes the Air Force guy and the female scientist includes a snippet from the Woody Woodpecker song.

Why is that important? Well, Pal included something from his friend Walter Lantz'z Woody Woodpecker in every science fiction film her produced. Not bad.

You will love Visitor from Space, warts and all, if you are a true fan of 50's flying saucer movies.

They Really Got The 1950s Feel
tsbrownie13 August 2022
Lots of critics who clearly have not seen much 50s scifi.

My only complaint is they mixed hi-rez new footage with old lo-rez clips. If they re-edit, I hope they'll normalize all the clips for resolution.
