Jimmy Palmer's finest hour
andrewgideon-7987522 January 2021
Brian Dietzen shines in this episode. In what is usually considered comic relief, but with a human center, here Jimmy is the hero. Chas. Floyd Johnson, executive producer, said that when they were putting together the flashback sequences from earlier episodes, they were actually surprised by the number of dramatic scenes that Dietzen played. Great episode!

I have struggled with this season of NCIS. I miss Tony and a lot of time is being spent on the new characters (I still include Ellie as new) I don't have any history with and don't really care about (yet). Bearing in mind we are 14 seasons in, this is no longer just a procedural show but has a major element of soap opera to it. Character progression is more important than the crimes, especially when there doesn't seem to be a season-arc in the background to move the show forward.

This is the first episode of the series which has really focused on one of the core cast members and in such a way as to move that character, and that character's relationships, forward. I have always liked Palmer as a foil for Ducky but he has deserved to have a larger role for while and hopefully this is the start of something more for Jimmy and for Brian Dietzen.

Most thought out episode I've seen yet! Characters developed behind the scene. Awesome inspirational words that most of us have herd but nearly not enough. If this episode was a movie I've give Jimmy an academy lol

If you had to choose one episode

I think this episode is really one of the best that NCIS will offer. It still has me in tears. After 14 years, the spotlight is on Palmer, who so elegantly handles himself as the lead on this episode. The well-thought flashbacks and the bit with the listening device really set the water works. He exquisitely points out the best of core team, and with Gibbs ... Well the bear hug at the end should cover it.

It's a great insight into the show, which just goes to show you how we are still getting to know them.

It will definitely count as one of my favorite top five episodes.

You really don't want to miss this episode!

Keep Going

This episode is one of the best I have watched, which is surprising considering a lot of the cast is new from this season. This episode dives deep into Jimmy's relationship with everyone and contains clips from previous episodes that really beings it together. A really wonderful episode.

Often episodes with a lot of "flash backs" are crummy, not this one!
imdb-1937020 October 2021
There are some (small) revelations in there, but mostly it's about friendship. And the last few seconds of the episode brought a tear to my eye.. All in all a very well balanced episode definitely worth watching!

The BEST NCIS episode EVER - tears of satisfaction and joy
bopdog15 October 2021
All episodes have their own character, and something good to recommend them. BUT - this is by far the single best NCIS epi I have ever seen (and I've seen them all to date).

This is heartfelt. It authentically opened my emotions up, and by the end I was in tears. Not tears of sentiment, but of true and honest emotion. Jimmy Palmer (the character) was amazing, as was Gibbs, Bishop, and Ducky (everybody, actually). I LOVE this episode! I wish more of them were of this stellar quality - but with hundreds and hundreds of NCIS episodes that would be asking for the super human.

As I watch this 14th Season, I've notice that right before they introduce Mark Harmon, the three boxes on the bottom of the screen are clips of each episodes.

Keep Going.

My wife and I. We both have theatre background. And we're not about to launch into a boring six paragraph dissertation on any TV show or movie. We would like to think that our light-hearted, semi-non sequitur reviews based upon the silly MST3K model might be enjoyable for some. WE get a kick out of it ; ).

Jimmy Palmer's defining moment. And Gibbs takes yet another step towards his character's development.

It has to make sense to the viewers
CrimeDrama11 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Not referring to the emotional drama in this episode just two things that don't make sense. I don't buy the fact that Jimmy would not say a word to anyone after seeing someone on a ledge and just race up the building, especially with Gibbs and Dr. Mallard just feet away. When Abby and others first view the surveillance video of the near-collision at an intersection, Abby states that she can't make out the SUV's license plate (at all!) The next mention of it by Abby is that the partial license plate revealed the person who rented the SUV. What partial license plate? Believe me, I watched the scenes over and over and it is never shown how she got a partial plate from the video. Writers, you can't make leaps like that and Jimmy's job is to assist Dr. Mallard, not freelance at the scene of a dead body.
