A nostalgic trip to the senses
Rodrigo_Amaro26 April 2022
I haven't seen this music video in exact 20 years ever since its release, which was Pet Shop Boys return after a while and quite frankly it was the very first time I heard of them since I wasn't much of a music enthusiast back then. I liked the song, enjoyed the clip and always wondered why it didn't become a more well-known single as it could since it had plenty of qualities - but if compared to the other PSB songs this is far from the dance extravagance and full of energy and rhythm they usually present; this is more of a reflective quiet song. Amazingly beautiful but since it never became a hit it just died on me over the years...until now when I decided to take a look back and relive the memories and experiences of two decades ago, and I was floored for a long time, it was overwhelming.

Famous photogapher Bruce Weber directed this clip just as he did with the duo in the exciting classic "Being Boring". A new decade ahead but almost following the same scheme where the main attraction of the video is watching a gathering of pretty boys and girls, male and female models performing on a studio trying different poses and expressing themselves in their best possible way at the same time they are guided and photographed by Neil Tennant and other senior figures. The song's melody is sweet, slightly melancholic, a true power ballad that hit the senses whenever the piano plays a deeper part going through the heart.

There are not enough words to describe its effect on me. It was a thing that captured my attention in younger years, it was all very fresh and all brand new to me, very good but it took me until to actually rediscover it and it impressed me all over again. Oh the nostalgia feels back when music was actually good.

9/10.
