The informant could have easily told the detective "it's in the cigars" rather than writing down his number on a dollar bill. That led to an unnecessary side plot with Burl and Cora trying to track a dollar bill through New York.
Not to mention, Burl's incompetence literally got the informant killed. I'm guessing the next episode is just gonna skip right past that.
I think to enjoy The Good Cop you have to look past a few things. It doesn't take itself too seriously. It's more like 'Death in Paradise' than 'Bosch'. If you're ok with that, you'll enjoy this episode and the series as a whole.
