“The Idea of You” was the most-streamed movie of the May 3-9 viewing window, per Luminate. The movie, starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine, was watched for 714.2 million minutes between May and May 9, its first full week of availability on Amazon Prime Video.
Up from its No. 5 position on last week’s chart, which was recorded after only one day of streaming for the movie, this translates to 6.2 million views when divided by its runtime. By that metric, it actually comes behind the week’s No. 2 movie, Jerry Seinfeld’s “Unfrosted,” which hit 684.4 million minutes watched and 7.4 million views in its first full week on Netflix.
The Netflix documentary “Secrets of the Neanderthals” made third place with 167.9 million minutes watched (2.1 million views) in its first full week. The rest of the movies chart, populated by titles including “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver,” “Road House” and “Honeymoonish” all fell below...

Alan Wake 2 has been a triumph for Remedy Entertainment and the developers revealed two video games that were sources of inspiration. The survival-horror video game was well-received and took advantage of the success of The Evil Within franchise.
It is unfortunate to see Tango Gameworks being closed down by Microsoft. Kyle Rowley served as one of the game directors of the Alan Wake sequel and opened the doors. Rowley sent an invitation to the developers seeking new opportunities and also revealed another inspiration for the game.

Even those only vaguely familiar with video games probably know names like Super Mario, Grand Theft Auto, and Call of Duty. They’re the franchises that have come to dominate gaming over the last 50 years or so. Some of those franchises are currently being updated almost every year, while the new releases in others have become milestone events that seem to reshape the industry. New franchises come along and others fade away, but the biggest and best video game franchises have been slowly growing for years and, in some cases, decades.
Honestly, it can all be a little difficult to keep up with. For as significant as gaming’s biggest franchises are, they’re also…well, big. Over a long enough period of time, it’s easy to forget when specific games in certain franchises were released and where exactly they fit into the history of those series. You may know the names,...

Fans were shocked to hear that “NCIS: Hawai’i,” the newest series in CBS’ “NCIS” franchise, had been canceled after three seasons last week. At a press briefing in Los Angeles, CBS executives said the decision came down to a balance of cost and ratings, as well as cohesion across the network’s 2024-2025 schedule.
“It is incumbent on us to always keep the schedule fresh, keep momentum going. We had to make some really tough choices this year,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach told reporters. “Everything came back [from the Hollywood strikes] really strong, but ultimately we have to look at the cohesiveness of the schedule flow. We have to evaluate the financials and the performance overall, and we make tough decisions.”
When asked whether there was a chance of un-cancellation, as happened when CBS reversed its decision to end “S.W.A.T.” on two separate occasions, Reisenbach said no.

Evil Does Not Exist takes its time. At the beginning there’s foreboding music on the soundtrack as the camera moves across nature and vegetation. Then a character appears out of nowhere, startling the audience. Almost half an hour passes before a character even speaks.

More than ever, it’s hard to imagine a world where evil does not exist, so it should come as no surprise that the world captured in Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s film with that very same title feels out of step with our own.
“Evil Does Not Exist,” the Japanese auteur’s follow-up to “Drive My Car,” opens with a long shot that tracks through the forest, gazing up at the sky through intersecting branches that crisscross above. The pace is calm and unhurried, leisurely even, if not for the strings that accompany it. Ishibashi Eiko’s score, her second for Hamaguchi, is calming, too, at first. But then discordant notes gradually weave in, hinting at something darker under the melody and behind the trees. The longer this shot continues, the more eerie it feels, as if we’re gliding into another reality. Suddenly, it ends abruptly, jolting the audience into...

On a bright summer day in a tent on top of the sultry clay courts that give the Tennis Club Venezia its name, writer-director Ryûsuke Hamaguchi––known for his searing stories of love and longing and a taut, cryptic cinematic style all his own––saunters in tired but ready to talk, bags heavy under his eyes, tennis balls whopping back and forth in the distance. It’s 2023 and we’re on the Lido at the 80th Venice Film Festival. Hamaguchi’s latest feature Evil Does Not Exist has just debuted in competition to uncharacteristically rapturous applause.
The prolific, self-made Japanese auteur burst onto the scene at Locarno in 2015 with the success of the five-plus-hour Happy Hour. But despite the newfound popularity, Hamaguchi was a veteran. He’d already written and directed ten features and eight shorts, often teaming up with universities and research organizations that funded his crisp, sharp, sensitive...

When it comes to physical transformations, nailing accents, and memorable performances in the comedic genre, few can claim to be as versatile as Mike Myers. The Canadian star’s portrayal of the titular spy in the satirical film series Austin Powers is a case in point. The actor also gave life to one of the most loved animated characters, Shrek.
Mike Myers (image credit: Wikimedia Commons)
Myers who has been out of the limelight of late, made a rare public appearance at an event honoring Nicole Kidman in a completely new and almost unrecognizable look which has become a huge talking point on social media. Fans believe that the actor’s current appearance is absolutely perfect for the role of the antagonist in this iconic franchise.

Writing duo Michelle and Robert King have had a long winning streak. Back in 2009, the married couple debuted their first show together, the CBS legal drama The Good Wife. Over the course of its consistently excellent 7 seasons, the show was nominated for 43 Emmy Awards and 14 Golden Globes. Rolling Stone called it 'Network TV's Last Great Drama'.
The Good Wife went on to spawn The Good Fight and Elspeth, two spin-offs also written and created by Michelle and Robert King.
But the duo wanted to stretch out beyond the confines of the courtroom, so in 2019 they hit the airwaves with something totally different: a psychological mystery series about Catholicism, faith, the supernatural, and evil.

Evil and its central trio—Kristen (Katja Herbers), David (Mike Colter), and Ben (Aasif Mandvi)—has both delighted and terrified us for three seasons thus far. The psychological mystery from the brilliant minds of Robert and Michelle King premiered on CBS in 2019, and after one season, it moved to Paramount+. The series, while examining the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion, focuses on a skeptical female psychologist (Kristen) who joins a priest-in-training and a contractor (Ben) as they investigate the church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and hauntings. Their job is to assess if there is a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work. But what does the future hold for Evil? The good news is you don’t need a prophet to find out. Read on for everything we know, and keep checking back for updates.

When Evil Season 4 premieres in May, fans will be hoping for a resolution to a whole host of questions raised at the end of Evil Season 3.
While some will be answered at the outset, more questions will arise to intrigue us throughout the show's run.
As all good things must come to an end, we know that this will be the last outing of this crazy, mind-bending show we've come to love.
Most seasons have contained ten episodes, so it will be a treat to have four bonus episodes, which Robert and Michelle King are touting as a mini-season to finish out the story.
But how will it end? And with the news that Netflix will soon begin airing various seasons, would Evil be well-served by being "saved" by the streamer?

In a statement, the concert was characterized as “an opportunity for Interpol to give back to their long and dedicated Mexican fanbase who have supported them impeccably over the years.”
Beginning in May, Interpol will embark on an international tour that includes a mix of festival performances, dates supporting Smashing Pumpkins, and their own run of headlining shows.
The show took place at Zócalo, a historic ceremonial square in Mexico City. As a record audience watched on, the band performed a career-spanning 21-song set that included “Evil,” “All the Rage Back Home,” “Obstacle 1,” “C’mere,” and “Slow Hands.” A full replay of the concert is streaming below.

So if you’re Zack Snyder — or even if you’re not Zack Snyder, but are dropping the second chapter of a needlessly complicated space saga and need to get folks back up to speed — you enlist Sir Anthony to say things like: “On the far edges of the Motherworld’s reach, circling the gas giant Mara, was the small moon of Veldt…...

The latest pickup for the network is Elsbeth, the Columbo-esque Good Wife offshoot starring Carrie Preston as the title character, lawyer-turned-investigator Elsbeth Tascioni. The series has performed well over its first few episodes, ranking as the second most watched newcomer on the broadcast networks this season (behind fellow CBS show Tracker). It averages about 11 million viewers over five weeks of viewing on all platforms (CBS, Paramount+ and CBS TV apps).
“Elsbeth has charmed audiences with its singular blend of delightful humor, distinctive ‘how-done-it’ storytelling, and the inventive, brilliant quirkiness of Elsbeth Tascioni,” said CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach in a statement. “Executive producers Robert and Michelle King have a stellar track record for creating critically acclaimed series full of unforgettable characters and, alongside showrunner Jonathan Tolins and his writing team, have developed an incredibly...

This article contains casting spoilers for all eight episodes of Fallout.
The Fallout gaming franchise presents a big storytelling universe to play in. And that’s exactly what drew showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner to the Prime Video TV adaptation in the first place.
“It’s more creatively interesting to be able to build our own story in the world that they’ve carved out for us,” Wagner told Den of Geek. “That’s historically been the trajectory of Fallout. It’s traded hands many times, with different creative teams taking it over. It’s kept it fresh, kept it relevant. We chose to just vainly look at this as our Fallout.”
Of course, a big storytelling universe also requires a big cast to fill it up. Prime Video’s Fallout isn’t wanting for compelling lead characters thanks to Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul...

Robert and Michelle King's "Evil" is one of the best shows of the streaming era, and one of the best horror TV shows of all time, period (as determined by us). The tale of a team of researchers working for the Catholic Church to investigate supernatural events is a bit like "Law & Order" meets "Hannibal," but with the world-building and expansive story involving demonic conspiracies of the underrated "The Exorcist" TV show. After three wonderful, scary, funny seasons, "Evil" is coming to an end with its fourth and final season, which premieres May 23, 2024, on Paramount+.

The Bau is getting an assist from a Desperate Housewives alum.
TVLine reports that Felicity Huffman has closed a deal to guest star during Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2, and her character has ties to the original series.
Huffman is playing Dr. Jill Gideon, described as “a brilliant biological psychiatrist who winds up helping the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit investigate a murderous conspiracy theory.”
If that surname sounds familiar, it’s because she’s the wife of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), so she has plenty of ties to the team.
Jill isn’t too fond of getting involved with the Bau because of her past, which concludes a “complicated history” with David Rossi (Joe Mantegna).
However, her expertise is needed because the team is struggling to crack open the Gold Star mystery.

“Out of the darkness and into light, comes your horrorscope on this dark and stormy night.”
Robert Englund is a name who needs no introduction in the horror community. He’s played Freddy Krueger in eight A Nightmare on Elm Street movies and has brought life to one of the horror genre’s greatest icons. Englund’s incomparable work as Krueger would be enough to forever make him a celebrity, but he’s had a rich horror career that’s included multiple roles in Tobe Hooper films and, more recently, his standout performance as Victor Creel in the streaming phenomenon, Stranger Things.
