Wait, You're A Birder????
wandernn1-81-6832748 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What's this guys' name?? Gaddis? Okay... He finds a weird warp hole?

Gaddis has to have a tractor repaired, by MAY. He asks her if she's ever seen any HOLES out here. She doesn't seem to have seen any.

Gaddis has dinner with LORETTA AND GEORGE. They discuss weird romances and the distance BIRDS will go for romance. Okay Weird!

LOL, so Gaddis apparently slips into a parallel dimension through one of these HOLES. And he encounters, himself!

+1 Star for Gaddis tackling himself!!!

In this parallel world, Gaddis2 has a lover. The LOOP was shut down years ago. Interesting. so the problem centers around this tractor. It doesn't belong in one side. So they try to fix it.

Gaddis 2 wakes up and sees Gaddis 1 leaving and then Gaddis 2 goes in there and of course he does it with Gaddis 1's lover, Alex. Who didn't see this coming??

-1 Star for the gay lover triangle....

So Gaddis 1 finds out about Gaddis 2 and confronts him. Gaddis 2 leaves. Gaddis 2 meets another 'birder' at some diner somewhere. LOL, it's parallel Kent, the dude he was always eyeballing from his security hut back on his own dimension.

Nice. Funny how that circle of life just works out eh??

I really didn't care for this Ep. But still it gets 5/10

"You know, 'cause end of the day, who knows, right?"

Warning: Spoilers
This episode had the potential to be very divisive for the audience, as demonstrated by the positive and negative reviews on this board. The sci-fi aspect of the story quickly gives way to a current culture determined to push an agenda of diversity, while tackling multiple fronts. The parallel world construct is used to explore just which world Gaddis (Ato Essendon) belongs in, often in a painstaking manner. The disappearing hole in the ground near the beginning of the story didn't appear to have any relevance later on, except perhaps to illustrate a change in dimensions, but since it wasn't repeated there remains a question mark. I was curious to find out where this was going, but once it was over, an anomaly is presented regarding Gaddis's disappearance from the Loop. Will anyone in the original version of The Loop realize his absence, and how will they react? In the parallel world, how is it possible for the same person to exist as two separate entities. In the TV world I grew up in, that scenario held the potential for disaster.

Incorrect.

This scenario is a gay man's literal dream so I've no idea why they depicted it as an absolute nightmare.

A superb portrayal of longing and an inability to undertake risk - the fear and reticence of the outsider.

beautifully rendered and acted

You can skip this episode!

Warning: Spoilers
Now that I have finished the first season In retrospect this episode is totally out of place with the overall story arc. It does not serve the larger story so it is reasonable to ask why was it made? I hope we are beyond creating art to reinforce tolerance in sexual orientation. It seems like a well worn path that is unnecessary in 2020. For me the only take-away from this story is a confirmation of a theory I have had in regard to the universe in which the loop exists. On a larger note I felt "Tales From The Loop" is a masterful piece of science fiction storytelling. It is science fiction that is story driven and thought provoking. This hearkens back to an era of science fiction writing that operated on a deeper level. This is a real gem that I am sure will not get the credit it deserves in a time of short attention spans and immediate gratification. You have to relax into this, like a good book. I cross my fingers that another season is coming. This type of entertainment is sorely lacking today.

Maybe the most interesting episode

Warning: Spoilers
This could be the most interesting episode in the first season. Perhaps it's not perfect, very slow and paced.

But it faces a question that everybody has asked to oneself: how my life could be if...

Very interesting high concept

Definitely a skip
taraangel-4096010 August 2020
I've watched every episode, in order. This one is the first one that I wish I had not watched. I wouldn't have given it 1 star but I had to to write this review. This episode had nothing to do with much of anything. It was a waste of time. Take my advice, skip it.

Intriguing and compelling Warning: Spoilers
I found this story one of the most intriguing. Not only is it a classic parallel-universe story in itself, but it focuses a character who has only played a very minor role in the series thus far. Granted: this is a less tech-driven, more character-driven story, but no less compelling for that.

The Worst Episode - Skip It
djmiller-8377817 May 2020
I wish I had skipped it. The first three episodes were very enjoyable and they've been getting worse and worse since. This episode is the bottom of the barrel. I think the writer and producer forgot that this series is a Sci-Fi Drama, not a Romantic Tragedy. The story was not unique or even interesting and you could see the "surprise ending" coming a mile away. There is so much potential in this series, and in this episode in particular, but the opportunity was wasted. As Kipling remarked, this episode was nothing more than the "proper prostrations to the gods of the marketplace." Very disappointing.

This was such a beautiful episode! I'm completely stunned by the directing, the performance of the actors and the screenplay. Very well done. If it was a movie it would probably be one of my favorites.

A shame to science fiction
evandronius11 May 2020
There is fiction, and there is science fiction. The literal only difference is science. This show did not contain that, it only contained the suggestion of it. It was purely an emotional endeavor with no execution to explore the complex elements that it contained. Parallel universes are like a giant canvas of opportunity. This was like a high school drama geek using monet's water Lilly's and using it as a canvas to write their poetry on. It was a frivolous episode with flat performances and was for me the highlight of this shows failed potential as a work of science fiction as well as a narrative piece altogether.

Arrogance is arrogance in any dimension
ginger-11128 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've asked the question many times, why would anyone live in this town? Lives are destroyed without notice. Fall into a parallel universe unable to return to your own? No problem, just a day in the life. One more time - surprise, surprise - some Loop-junk is found lying around, just waiting to become a problem.

In his own world, Gaddis isn't exactly a likable character. He's rude and self-absorbed. Little wonder he has no love life. Fall into a parallel universe and expect things to be different? Not if you take yourself along.

Everyone starts out worried about keeping Gaddis under wraps in this new world. By the end, they've decided it doesn't matter. Maybe in this new world he'll at least be a little less rude and arrogant now that he's had to reassess a whole new life. Which he does with disturbing ennui.

Given how vapid everyone in his original universe was, it's doubtful that anyone even missed him.

What am I feeling right now?..
mediatromp-6168627 February 2022
So far this season has been everything I've wanted, not what I was expecting, but I'm loving every second.

This show handles emotions so well. Despite the unrealistic scenarios, all emotions feel very real. The acting is simply incredible, big props to Ato Essandoh. You can feel every conversation in this episode. But because of the strange scenario, my heart does not know what to feel, who to side with. You'll know what I'm talking about once you've seen the episode. Also the cinematography is just brilliant (like every episode). Even if you don't exactly know the reason why certain shots are filmed a certain way, you feel the impact nonetheless.

9.7/10.
