The BEST film about Custer's Last Stand and it is not even close

There have been many films, tv shows, and documentaries about the Battle of the Little Bighorn that have been made over the last century, however, none of them have been made with as much care about historical accuracy than Chris Hoffert's "Custer's Strategy of Defeat". Not only is the film very historically accurate, but it is also very historically authentic as well. The film is unbiased and chooses not to take anyone's side when covering the events of the Little Bighorn.

There are some historical inaccuracies as well as some errors with authenticity; however, these are not big enough to be a major problem. The film is extremely entertaining and well acted despite being made up of mostly reenactors and local and small time actors.

The only issue that I have with the film is with the saturation of the film. The low saturation makes the film seem too dark during some scenes, but this is just a nitpick of mine and doesn't affect my enjoyment of the film.

'Custer's Strategy of DEfeat is not only the best western of 2022, but it is the best film that I have seen in a long while, and is much better than Hollywood in my opinion. Do yourse;f a favor and look up this docudrama and please watch it. You won't be disappointed. For once, George Armstrong Custer is portrayed as a normal human being rather than as a villain. .

Too modern, violent, and unbalanced for me

Just as bad (in the opposite direction) as the Erroll Flynn film "They Died With Their Boots On", this film chooses to be bloody and opinionated. The Native Americans were not "innocent children". The very name "Sioux" means enemy. And while the US broke treaties, so did the Sioux.

I particularly disliked the disjointed flashbacks reminiscent of "Saving Private Ryan". Yes, nearly 300 troopers and Native Americans were killed; but there was no need for the violence, unless one gets their thrills from that.

There were some "goofs" or "anachronisms; but they were quite minor.

I would rather have seen a movie of the battle or a movie of survivor memories than a combination. Then again, I'm not a fan of Anchovy-Liverwurst Pizza, either.

This battle marked the high-water point in Lakota/Cheyenne history, and -- in my untutored but not completely illiterate opinion -- deserved a more serious, more somber, less lurid presentation

Well made, technically; but not to my taste in "historical drama".

YMMV. See it and decide for yourself.
