Tomcats (2001)
OVERDOSE OF GROSS
18 January 2002
I won't lie, I laughed at this movie, a lot. But I felt it could have been shortened considerably if they took out the gratuitous vulgarity and infantile humor.

The comedy was below even a twelve-year old's tastes. The goofy S&M gags were too overdone and the viagra laced champagne was way more than needed to be seen, and we won't even mention the hospital scene.

Overall, I'd have to be under the influence of something really strong to ever watch this movie again.

Normal, Ohio (2000)
Tearing down the walls
13 November 2000
I am so excited that this show is getting watched. I am thrilled that it breaks down the stereotypes of gay people. Hollywood does tend to glamorize gay people and pigeonhole the entire community. This show gives people a different take on the all too utopian Will and Grace. I personally like how Butch has to put up with fear and ignorance in the episodes. There are a lot of gay people who aren't affluent New Yorkers who deserve a role model. Too many times the gay community sells out. This show may not be high art, but it caters to those who have a taste for realistic characters.

If you haven't seen it yet, please take time out of your schedule to see an extremely gifted actor play the new American Hero. Thank you Fox for taking a chance on a risky show. Thanks Mr. Goodman for being there.

Trick (1999)

Unexpected Pleasure
15 July 2000
This film moved me. Trick follows such a realistic tone in the performance of the actors which grows more true to life as the story progresses. Like several young gay men, Christian Campbell's character is somewhat of a wallflower and then meets a really cute go go boy. As the story progresses, we see it turn into something more of a romance quite perfectly punctuated with comic relief. Tori Spelling's kooky Katherine was stunningly entertaining (Bravo, I for one didn't know she had it in her). The character of Miss Coco Peru, the obligatory, though hilariously tragic drag queen was probably the funniest interlude in the film. It's a unique indie hit that is sure to be an instant Gay classic. Make sure you see this film.

Positively the Biggest Waste of time...
18 May 2000
...And I also saw SHOWGIRLS. I have never so much wanted to claw out my eyes after seeing a movie as I did after this one. To quote Bart Simpson, "I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both SUCKS *AND* BLOWS. I cannot believe this movie even got made. I hope Mr. Travolta is happy with the stinking piece of filth he made. Also, if you're reading this, I want my seven dollars back!

Freaks and Geeks (1999–2000)
The first really watchable new drama
3 October 1999
So, Okay.

I realize that the main user comment is probably someone who works for NBC, but I do not work for NBC. I love this show. This show is extremely compelling. While watching it with my sisters this weekend, we all realized we wanted more after the credits rolled. I will be home from now on or have a tape set for this show. It feels like you are watching your high school. Even if you don't personally relate to each character or story line, you can appreciate the situations and quality production of brilliant director Jake Kasdan (Zero Effect).

If you think I'm nuts, fine. Please don't dismiss this show without taking the time to appreciate at least one episode.

The Jack Bull (1999 TV Movie)

Worth the Time -- Better than _Unforgiven_
18 April 1999
I am a John Cusack fan. I watch all of his movies because he is a wonderful actor. "The Jack Bull" is no exception. John Cusack shines as a hard working horse trader who is tired of being pushed around by Ballard, the local boss. His legal recourse is disregarded by the local crooked judge and he mortgages his land to raise an army against Ballard.

John Goodman redeems the law as the totally fair judge who carries out justice to all. HBO pictures has done well with this story. Don't be shocked if it gets some Emmys.

Realistic, Witty, Wild
14 February 1999
I rented this movie and bought it the very next day. It was probably the most real movie about relationships that I've seen in several years. It continues to make me laugh after screening it at least five times. Great acting and filming. It also has an excellent use of color.

Smart and Sassy
8 February 1999
"Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place" is a smart and witty show with a sense of humor and style that is so lacking in many programs of the new season. It may not have gotten off to a great start; but the show is definitely one of, if not the best, new show of 1998. The actors make me laugh and the characters are compelling.

I thank the producers for not giving us another _Friends_ clone. It may be a clone, but it's better than the original. For those of you who may hate it, give it another try.

You'll like what you see.
