Insatiable (2018–2019)
9/10
Highly entertained throughout the series.
1 November 2021
Insatiable is highly entertaining throughout the series. Quirky characters, and dark humor. Debby Ryan being the forefront of the show is perfect as the show seems all revolving around it's main character whose name is Patty, a girl who goes through dramatic changes in appearance, leading her to dramatic changes in her social life. Initially this show is misunderstood. It sheds more light on how our outside appearance effects how people are treat us. Patty and her friends also tackle modern social issues flavorfully. Season 3 should be renewed by Netflix, and Debby Ryan is a fresh new face for Hollywood.

Sinister (I) (2012)

Spectacular

Warning: Spoilers
Looking at Sinister and hearing the plot you might think it all sounds very familiar. But watching Sinister you get a much better atmosphere and a different vibe. Dark corners in every way, subtle field sounds, silence, and an evil face lurking in the frames. Sinister doesn't rely on flashy horror music or CGI like most new age trilogies (some good some bad). The writing made the story and the family believable and authentic. This movie is a highlight for Ethan Hawke.

It: Part 2 (1990)
Season 1, Episode 2
1/10
An end to series only admired through nostalgia.

Some of the worst acting I have sat through. Annette O'Toole is hilariously clingy, over-dramatic, and in-heat this entire half, practically kissing and touching everybody that moves. Emotions are void and do no job of convincing or drawing you in. But hey I guess if you speak breathlessly and know a couple of cheesy one-liners about death and fear, then maybe you too could be a actor in IT (1990).

It: Part 1 (1990)
Season 1, Episode 1
4/10
Repetitive, campy, highly predictable.

Good shots of Pennywise, and great child acting. The bullying scenes were classically Stephen King, as in they're unrealistic. Brandon Crane (Ben Hanscom) and Emily Perkins (Beverly Marsh) were the stars of the first part in the series. Each scene was predictable and clichè which is not an excuse for a film from 1990.

Bad Writing
12 September 2021
First episode already makes some of the endings apparent. Within the first 10 minutes you know a house used to be there that "burned down" oh wow we haven't heard that before and you're just going to throw that random fact out there to a newcomer who never asked?

The other foster care children introduce themselves very flat and formally. "I'm ______ just don't touch my stuff" wow we haven't had heard that line in every piece of schlock.

The creepiest thing is how formally and marionette-like characters talk to each other. Tequan Richmond talks like a audiobook and I have no idea if it's poor acting or bad writing. Inconsistencies show through the series that won't be spoiled (not that it's worth watching). James Mansell has a history of directing schlocky films. If there was any advice I could give him, I'd tell him to go outside and touch the grass. Study how people converse and act together.
