Breaking Bad (2008)
Season 5 makes it a Legend
Saying that i am extremely late in watching this would be a gross understatement but as they better later than never so i finally did and my God i cannot get it out of my head. Truly speaking up until season 4 i was liking it but still really couldn't fathom it being judged as the greatest TV show with a mind boggling rating of 9.5 ,for me until S4 it was very good i would rate 9/10 , i just couldn't give it that one extra star but Season 5 cleared my dilemma entirely .It was insanely great ,right from the heist to the Jail hit ,to the desert showdown , it had so many unbelievable moments. I was emotionally overwhelmed to see all these events unfolding.Season 5 has to be one of the best seasons ever created and for me Walter White is the greatest character i have ever watched(i am yet to watch Tony Soprano so i could be wrong here) ,he has so much depth that just wowes you ,he can be a monster one moment and in the very next one he would be the hero. You hate him for being the evil he is but still dont want him to fail ,that's the magic the writers and creators have weaved in building him and it goes without saying the sheer brilliance with which Bryan Cranston had nailed this character ,in fact the entire cast is so good, the perfect ensemble. If shows like True detective which i loved in season 1 and Fargo which i also really like can be a 9 on IMDB then this without a doubt is a Sparkling 10 cause none of these come even close to its greatness. To B.B. , my star ,my unforgettable experience - Thank You ,I Take A Bow.
Smultronstället (1957)
My first Bergman and i am moved
This movie provides a very pleasant ,calming experience while working on the theme of old age ,loneliness and regret .
You start the movie by not liking the protagonist and by the time you end , you have a teardrop for him. Victor Sjostrom has masterfully conveyed the emotions with minimum dialogue. This movie tears your heart to realize that loneliness can be so painful and that one needs to value the relationships in their lives.
Some might need to be old to understand and to put oneself in the shoes of Isak.
Anatomy of a Murder (1959)
Straight statement ...Its a gem my fellas! Period.
One of the best experiences i have had ...Brilliant Brilliant writing .
So many questions it leaves , so much unanswered and thats the beauty of it
Its a perfect 10
This piece inspires me...i am so much thankful
Little Women (2019)
A beautiful feel good movie
I am not fan of Greta's last work Ladybird . To me it was very a regular coming of age movie and i didn't concur with extremely rave reviews it received.
But her latest work is extremely good and almost perfect.
Watching this movie it is so obvious that it was a product of brilliant writing. She has reproduced the 19th century environment so masterfully without making it dull.
The story switches back & forth between present and past smoothly .Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh have done justice to their roles and rightly deserve their nominations.
Pugh is specially good in transitioning from a silly ,naughty teenager to a mature adult scene after scene .
All in all its a heartwarming happy movie with charming story at its heart and a definite re watch
Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
horribly shallow!
walking into the movie hall i didn't have high hopes cause i had read and heard negative reviews about this movie but still i had faith that i wont be that bad & at least watchable for once. i was totally taken aback by the shallowness of the script.even an above average movie has a some high moments ,some impact areas but this movie lagged everything .even the ending had zero impact .i am utterly disappointed by the way the story is projected.people didn't like robinhood much but i will say that robinhood was far far entertaining than this one. on top of it veteran actor Ben kingsley much to my suprizehad been given such a weak and unnoticeable role. i think ridley should have watched this movie himself before releasing it out.i hope he does better in his next venture. Verdict- definitely not a theatre watch
Interstellar (2014)
Just watched it the 3rd time...its haunting me....
what to say where to start from this movie is an absolute epic..A beautiful SAGA that will live forever in the history of movie making..our future generations will be jealous of us cause we were lucky enough to watch it in our lifetimes.. Nolan is just getting better and better..There is no end to his perfection. with every movie we feel like he has achieved perfection but next time he amazes us by achieving even more than what he has done previously.. He is just raising his bar each time.only 44 years of age & he has already given us many gems, don't know how many epics he will direct by the time he'l be 70. What makes me respect him more is his serious dedication to cinema & to his fans ,he took 10 years to complete INCEPTION's story and for this he hired KIP Thorne( American theoretical physicist, known for his contributions in gravitational physics and astrophysics) to assist him and advise him in the movie. Nothing shown in the movie is baseless though he has used his imagination very well. Im really amazed why this movie has got few negative reviews also as i coudnt find a single loop hole in it,guess people could not digest so much science..i feel sorry for them that they cant appreciate it. In terms of acting Academy award winner Mathew mcconaughey has delivered a powerful performance,he makes u emotional in some sequences & in others makes you laugh with his good comic timing.he could well be getting a nomination again this year. Nolan's favorite michael caine is as usual sublime .then Jessica chastain and Anne hathaway have also suitably done there jobs. Mackenzie foy who plays young murph's (Mathew mcconaughey's daughter) role has given a mature performance.she's really good in the movie. Not to forget Han Zimmer has a big big hand in making this movie such a phenomena with his music. It is due to his exhilarating music that you latch yourself with this movie.it really keeps haunting you hours after you leave the hall.Nolan has got himself a creative and a legendary musician on his back. Its time for him to win another academy after the lion king. i waited for this movie as soon as it was announced cause i had trust on nolan and he has kept it alive.though difficult but i hope he wins an academy this time cause he truly deserves after so many years of efforts in direction. wake up academy he's knocking at the door...;) cant wait for another one ... love you nolan and zimmer :*
The Artist (2011)
This movie really talks....
this is my very first review and iam obliged that iam starting with such a great movie... Before viewing this movie i read some negative reviews that being a silent a movie its bit monotonous and sluggish but i am happy to declare that its totally the opposite way .the movie is highly intriguing and well paced . It brilliantly depots you to the era when silent films were made, more importantly tells the story of transition of cinema from silent to talkies. it makes you feel the pain and agony that actors of that era must have undergone when talking movies popped in and they had no choice of either scaling up or quitting .Charlie Chaplin also underwent such a bend in his career when he was not ready to commit to talking movies. while pleasing the movie you just cant stop yourself crediting the actor Jean Dujardin for portraying the character so elegantly.he's remarkable in the role of a celebrity star of that era who carries the pride on his shoulder's effectively wearing a smile even in the hard times.there is an impeccable charm around him in the movie you just cant get your eyes of him.he deservingly won an academy for this. i just hope too see him around, hes got bunch of a talent.. I just wanna wrap it all saying that this is totally an incredible watch..and indeed it was very brave decision for the director that rightly paid him off in the end.. kudos to the whole team !
