Why couldn't the Ray trilogy be like this?
30 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know how many tears of pure nostalgia I shed. And it wasn't just nostalgia, this show is amazing in almost every way. I loved almost every character, the way they interact, the drama and the action included is amazing. The only downside is Inquisitor Reva. I understand the character, her background etc. But she is the only character I just did not feel anything for and I might chock it up to just the poor acting I suppose. But the relationship between darth Vader and obi-wan is explored in depth as well as obi-wan and leia. This is the kind of Star Wars we need more often much like Rogue one I know Disney will always have unnecessary humor in scenes that should be serious. But here it is toned down and used sparingly as humor in movies and shows that are meant to be serious should be.

Who says you need over the top gore and jump scares?
9 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If you want blood, you don't got it. Well you got it a little. You want intense jump scares with a super loud bang or loud music? Not really. But it's not really needed here. People will do anything for money is the plain and simple plot to this film. And sometimes even in the real world, there are those who take advantage of those people in desperate situations. It's not a film you'll want to watch over again, definitely a one and done. But there are multiple points where you empathize with the characters, especially the main character who is fighting so she can save her brother from a terminal illness. Some characters are stronger than others but it is a fun little wild ride.

Leather face is good, the the other cast not so mich
4 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This leather face to me is one of the most intimidating in my opinion, at least since Texas Chainsaw massacre a new beginning. The gore was a lot of fun and there were one or two decent jump scares. My biggest issues are the acting and how certain characters survive their injuries. Especially when you have a chainsaw that has gone all the way through you and you are held up in midair yet magically still have enough strength to fire off two shots. And the "Survivors" are just not credible to me. But decent job with making leather face haunting and just an all around badass.

Entertaining gore to watch once but that ending...
8 January 2022
If it wasn't for that incredibly stupid ending I might have given this a 7 but I can't. The blood and gore is fun but the entire plot I'm just like no... it's one of those where if you literally have nothing else to watch but want to see some gory and sometimes funny kills then ok go for it. If not then skip it and I promise you won't miss too much. But again I go back to that ending. I won't add any spoilers here but if you do watch it you will understand it's a laughable completely dumb ending to a movie that sometimes attempts to take itself serious but fails t doing so.

It's worth it.
2 January 2022
I felt like a little kid all over again and I'm 25, I won't give out any spoilers here as I sometimes do with my reviews, but amazing action, great effects, and the chemistry between the cast is phenomenal. I wanted to cry from nostalgia during certain scenes. The only reason this movie did not receive a 10 from me is a recurring issue I have with all the newer marvel movies, too much humor in the scenes that probably could or should be serious. I'm not saying the whole thing has to be dark and gritty like a Batman movie. But maybe more of the kind of humor we saw in the original Spider-Man trilogy with Toby. Highly recommend, best Spider-Man film since Toby Maguire's Spider-Man 2 hands down.

Hit-Monkey (2021–2024)
9/10
Took me by surprise
4 December 2021
Love everything about this show except one and only thing. The animation style is a little rough for me. But other than that this show is amazing, perfect balance of humor, sadness, and serious undertones along with some bad ass action sequences. I first read about hit monkey in the Daniel Way run of Deadpool where he had a pretty short but funny arc with a contract for Deadpool himself. I wish I had followed up on the character with the comic series they decided to make debuting him. But this show is a pretty compelling telling of the hit monkey tale. Not sure how cannon it is to the comics and 10 episodes is just not enough, but it's all around fun. Episode 1 had me hooked for sure. I would compare it to the likes of archer, actually I feel it was influenced by that show which I also enjoy. Only perhaps with the humor toned down just a tad. All in all highly recommend but definitely leave the kiddos out of this one!

Brutal, unforgiving, and mysterious
25 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'll start with a question. Is it suidgame? No. Does that mean it is not as good? Also no. This is a different and unique genre of show. It almost plays out like an anime. The pace can be a little slow at times, but it is shrouded in mystery and I found myself watching all 6 episodes thanksgiving day. And can I just say; arrow head, to me is a completely realistic response to what would happen if such things as the "angels" were brought to the real world. Of course a crazy religious fanatic group would rise up and start targeting alleged sinners, would they live stream it to inspire fear but also to promote their group? Absolutely. Hell, (no pun intended) it happens now in the real world. We just don't have the demons chasing after us in between. I like the acting, the special effects, the drama, and plot. I just wish some more questions could have been answered.

Really slow but last two episodes make up for it
29 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The acting is great, the storyline is great. The only thing you need honestly is patience. There's some long drawn out monologues and some can be boring but they are necessary for the plot. They drive the story along. Very unique take on an ancient mythos especially blending it with modern day Christianity. The action is spared until the last two episodes. So you gotta hold on till then. But definitely worth a watch.

I am a die hard Halloween fan and no this is not a fake review
15 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I will start off with the negative and move to the positive. The hospital sequence was kind of dumb and was likely used as filler. And there's another I will say sequence of scenes where there's comedic relief that's taken just too far. The pace was kind of ruined by it. Now I will go to the positive. First off body count; Michael Myers gives Jason a run for his money when it comes to body count in this one. I'm talking 30+ by his own hand and they are on screen. And for those who thought the gore was toned down and maybe a little pg-13 at times in the 2018 Halloween, he more than makes up for it here. It is on screen, very brutal, graphic and done with practical effects not cgi. Next jump scares; I'm an avid horror movie watcher and I've seen them all. Even ones banned in the US. Nothing can catch me off guard except a few times I actually found myself shocked and twitched slightly. To feel that adrenaline and fear again was so enlightening. I was grinning and shaking it my seat with joy. And there are some questions answered, for example how Michael is able to survive so much. My favorite will forever and always be the original from 1978 but this one has become an extremely close second. They are going to have to do a lot to try snd top this one for the third sequel. Again please take this from someone who is a die hard Michael Myers fan through snd through.

I hate it so much but in some ways it's accurate
24 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I literally hate everything about "The Bro house" but sadly it is shockingly similar to things that actually exist in our modern world it is not even funny. I'm reminded of the likes of Jake and Logan Paul, mixed with jersey shore, and love island. The only thing positive about this episode at all is danny Trejo killing the people who run the bro house. But it is definitely a reminder of the things our society fuels and finds as entertainment. Thank god at least in the show they all die.

Dota: Dragon's Blood (2021–2022)

Pretty entertaining watch with plenty of dragons
6 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show of course has to do with one of my favorite mythical creatures, dragons. There are so many films and shows out there that do it either very well or it's just horrible. This one is done very well in my opinion. Very intriguing story line with characters that are not there for filler. They all play an important part, amazing animation style, fast paced and clever action and a storyline that is all around intriguing. The show has an almost goblin slayer feel to it (without the rape and nudity) and of course the storyline isn't just about slaying dragons. It goes much deeper than that. Highly recommend.

One of the few Netflix does right.
6 August 2021
We all know Netflix has a very shaky reputation at best when it comes to creating their own original animes. Few have caught my attention and managed to hook me, this is one of those. The animation is gorgeous and smooth, there's always enough action to keep one intrigued if you're a fan of castlevania like myself then I would definitely hop on and watch this one.

Desperate attempt to copy the greats.
19 July 2020
Too often now after the conclusion of game of thrones do directors and producers attempt to copy the greatness and legend that show achieved. The acting is so cringe all I could do was laugh. It is the type of show where other than the villains, the main characters are made overly attractive. There is no flow, no suspense, and the gore and action sequences I can compare to that of the animated Beowulf movie. I know most shows have to be given several episodes to give it a chance but there was nothing this show could do to redeem itself. It was pathetic.

Entertaining but overhyped.
24 June 2020
I watched this movie because I had seen several posts where it was claimed that only 2% of people who watch this film on Netflix can make it through because it is so horrifying. Well without giving spoilers; if you have seen films like the conjuring films or insidious and those did not scare you, then this will be a cake walk. The jump scares are extremely rare (which I enjoy because I feel that films Rely to heavily on them now days.) but are for the most part predictable. Now what got me was the acting. The acting in this film especially amongst the child actors is fantastic. And the concept is pretty decent. But it is definitely not as scary as the hype.

Halloween (I) (2018)

A classic Reborn
2 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
If you are looking for the gratuitous nudity, excessive blood and gore, teenagers partying and drinking being the center plot. Then don't go see this movie. If you are a fan of the original Halloween much like I am, go see this movie. I have to pay my absolute respects to David Gordon Green and Danny McBride for reviving and paying tribute to one of the greatest slashers of all time. The writing and the portrayal of all the characters is on point. This film not only brought back to life what made the original so great, it added several new elements that brought together an almost masterpiece. Now I know for those of you who read my review will see the word "almost" and get nervous. But do not let it worry you. The almost in question is a minor attempt at an unnecessary plot twist. I will not give the details here. But I promise that Michael resolves the issue in a very bad ass way. Even though not all of the gore is depicted on screen there's still plenty of it. Michael Myers is still an unstoppable force who will let no one get in the way of his task. The character Laurie Strode (Jaime Lee Curtis) is much more accurately depicted in this film than she is the other sequels in which she appeared in. After the trauma that she witnessed on that Halloween 40 years ago, there is little need for the imagination as to why she becomes the way she does. I do not need to express the way I feel about the two men who play Michael Myers. I am not saying Michael Myers is an easy character to portray. But like in the past they made Michael the soulless unfeeling character that he is. There isn't much I would have be different in this movie, other than the small scene that I mentioned earlier and maybe just a little more on screen brutality. Other than that fantastic movie for those who love the real and original Michael.

Power Rangers (2017)

Great for all generations
9 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
To me this reboot of one of the worlds' most recognizable franchises is great not only to its original and new fan base but to movies as a whole. One thing I have loved about Mist if not all films is those films who make one patient for the action. One that takes time in character development, story, etc. when the rangers finally morphed it felt like I was 6 years old again watching the various power rangers series and movies. The films made one care for everyone who was tasked with being a ranger. That way when they finally have to fight Rita you feel as though you are there fighting right along side them.

God of War (2018 Video Game)
Once in a decade game
21 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely fantastic in every way. Story is on point, there are no cutscenes, you are involved every step of the way. Not very many games other than Skyrim have impressed me this highly. The action is so complex that just smashing the basic attack buttons gets you no where. Instead of trying to become something new entirely, this game retains and honors what made the original god of war games great, but also adds many new aspects to it. Turning the game off is one of the most challenging tasks I've had in my life. Absolutely worth the investment and will not disappoint

Pulp Fiction (1994)

And you will know my name is the lord, when I lay my vengeance upon thee!
27 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I could write an entire novel reviewing this movie. So let's start off with the one negative which is likely the most common issue for those who don't like the movie. It's not action packed and it's not gory like kill bill or django. But what this story lacks in action sequences it more than makes up for with unique dialogue, completely original story (and story telling). When this movie ends and you turn off the TV it leaves one pondering about life and the choices we make. Everyone in this movie learns a lesson; whether or not they get lucky or learn them the hard way. You'll be able to sympathize or empathize with a vast majority of the characters (a few stragglers aside). The non linear chapter set up for this movie might leave one confused at first, but you have to observe each segment as their own movie then try to connect the dots (harder to do than it sounds). To this date there has not been a role that fits Sam Jackson as well as his character in this movie. And even though the last chapter is technically not the "ending" it works much more as such. I would not consider this an action suspense film; I would feel better calling it a very dark comedy. But if anyone reads this review all the way through and hasn't watched it yet. Do so now and even if you don't like the film you still have to appreciate its originality.

Fight Club (1999)

Unique storytelling
27 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This movie keeps you on edge for the entire run time. Norton and Pitt work together insanely well and as an insomniac myself there are certain number of his symptoms that speak to me personally. It is full of blink and you'll miss moments and after reading the trivia that include spoilers on this sight that reveal even smaller details you will miss unless you're paying attention the entire time. The narration gives it a certain quirk. While I must say this won't be everyone's movie for those who love unorthodox movies; this is one for you.
