Missed the boat
9 May 2022
What I thought was going to be a wonderful piece on our first ladies left me bewildered, expressly disappointed and yearning for a return to cable reruns of cop shows.

It wasn't so much the acting but the skipping around of the segments on the ladies. Just when I was engrossed in one ladies story line, it went back in time and to another This concept of moving around so much does not work for me when such a great idea became so confusing .

One ladies story at a time works better, for focus . Maybe someone else will redo this program and do it correctly .

I watched 3 episodes on a free week on cable. Would not have paid for it . These alleged premium channels are not worth it .

Waste of time
9 May 2022
I was looking forward to seeing this, having lived thru it at a young age and this was a total waste of my time .The coarse language is totally off the charts like Ides of March and really comes off as cheap. The acting disappointing, childish and not not worthy of anyone having to pay to watch. Martha Mitchell was louder, brassy and always on her phone .Roberts didn't come close to the real Martha. Those portraying the subordinates like Dean, Haldemann and others was a joke at best.

Having watched the first 3 episodes, wish I had spent the time reading the telephone book instead.

If those streaming like Netflix, and others are losing subscribers, its not a wonder. They over charge for mediocre programming . I"ll take Tubi, YouTube anytime ...free and better choices.

More absurd storylines
14 April 2022
Just when you think you have had your full of the female Boyle's/ Regans using their last name to their advantage. Another absurd episode pops up. We know why character Erin went back to using Reagan ( and not even sure she changed it legally) but dippy daughter uses her middle name, Reagan, when its to her advantage, about every other episode, to get ahead since Boyle, won't get her what she doesn't deserve. In this episode, she actually uses her real name but waivers back and forth depending on how she will again gain what she has not earned and even Erin asked why she didn't use Reagan. Duh, Reagan is not her birth last name. Both females use , use,use to gain what they have not earned. Its bad enough the character Nikky adds nothing tomthe mix, comes across as arrogant, spoiled and a know-it- all but lends nothing to any story line . Even into 2022, she is shown as a character when she hasn't been on in months and lets leave it that way...Her character is boring, blah, and unnecessary . Privilege begets privilege . At least Sean now has spunk , moxey, and lends a typical kid growing up , to the mix. He will be the next generation to be a cop in the family and rightfully so .

Portland OR the new Memphis
14 February 2022
I had seen this movie years ago and was looking to see it again. I love IMDb streaming as an escape from the dreary broadcast and cable showings IMDb is great for escapism and this movie is one and yes, Regina King was relatively unknown when this was made but one of my favs. It was also fun to see real life husband and wife, Laurie Walters and Linden Ashby once again together in a film but not related in said film. The fact that Portland was used for the scenic backdrops of Memphis speaks volumes of the confidence of passing it off as Memphis . I immediately recognized the familar bridges, waterways , splendor of what was once a beautiful city until the rioters took over.

Love the storyline, the twists and turns . Loved the interior shots of the courthouse , took me back to times having worked in the county courthouse there . The ending was so unexpected but delicious.

A cheap knock off
8 March 2019
I had wanted to see this in the theaters and never got the chance so when it was on cable last nite, had a chance and so glad I didn't waste my money on this one . Its a cheap knock off and not really sure how it came to garner 3 Oscar nominations . Someone was asleep at the wheel on this one as its boring , the fashion is not up to par and Ms Portmans' acting leaves a lot to be desired. The made-for-tv versions were a lot better than this tripe. Big disappointment by any standards . Besides the many "goofs' , again, the acting was beyond awful, especially Ms Portman's . Don't waste your time on this one

What, A duck ?
16 February 2019
I love this show and it makes all that is wrong with this world go away for an hour. Its pure escapism , and yet can be a learning experience with the court cases they represent . I did find , tho, a mistake in the fact that in this episode, a person is taken out of a church, which is supposed to be deemed a sanctuary and Boston is a sanctuary city . I felt bad for the demise of the duck and wished it had been the landlord instead

Jamie is Customer service
3 August 2017
There was a lot of animosity between Danny and Jamie ( kiddie names not adult) and it gives reason for pause that closer to the end of that story line is that Danny is making up the reason for sending the rookie to brothers precinct . For most of the episode he is in an argumentative mood regarding Jamie and the rookie and THEN he comes up with the excuse that he sent him over so he could get the "best" training . A ruse if I ever saw one. It appears he was trying to smooth over things with his brother and trying to look like he really appreciates how his brother works. Phony on Danny's part.

The argument at the dinner goes to show that not everyone is cut out to bend the rules and skirt the law. There are not enough stripes to go out and someone has to do the patrol part . Jamie seems suited to the position, he has great customer service skills and people skills and the NYPD is lucky to have him there whereas Danny is a cowboy who breaks the rules about every episode and if this were the real world, he wouldn't have lasted past the first several episodes because he would have been given the verbal warning, written warning and Internal Affairs review by an outside agency and would have been given his walking papers. He has no people skills , is abrupt with everyone and that in itself would not last with the his peers and superiors. Danny's character is not what law enforcement agencies are looking for and is not what the real world is about .

missing facts
2 July 2017
This episode has Eddie getting assaulted . She tells Jamie she is going out on a date with someone she went thru the academy with so why then, when, they go out on a date, doesn't he know that she is a cop ? Did he wash out ? And in the real world of LE, she would not be allowed to arrest the person who assaulted her. It is also noted that when Jamie finds out who her date was, he does some background on her date , comes up with a previous assault. So was the previous assault after he went to the academy as he would never have made it that far with that one his record. Also Frank is having a meal with a friend who happens to be a mob atty and when it comes time for the tab to be picked up, Frank mentions to his friend in so many words that as a civil servant, he doesn't make that much. Give me a break..The P.C. of the NYPD is likely making mega bucks and then some

Erronous facts
2 July 2017
Not a bad episode but not one of the better ones either. The fact was brought up about Erin celebrating her 40th birthday but this is incorrect as she had her 40th birthday several years back. In one of the previous episodes, Frank runs into a pal of Erins, a blonde that Erin doesn't want her dad dating because she is his daughters age, whom Frank can't remember until she gives him some clues and then yes, he remembers and mentions they had last seen each other at Erins "40" birthday Wondering why CBS doesn't check their facts before filming episodes as this happens all too often when facts in their story lines are incorrect. Again, it would be nice if the story lines would include the past of this family. We have seen pix on Franks dresser of Joe and Mary..They have been mentioned over time but never been "shown" in their "past" as part of any storyline. It would bring newness to the show along with more insight into family members. Really getting tired of Erins arrogant attitude. She always has to present herself as "Assist Dist Atty Erin Reagan" instead of Erin Reagan, ADA...Many of us feel she went back to her maiden name to show off to others as that last name opens more doors and Boyle. While at it, Bring back the ex husband for some conflict , add to the shows often boring story lines

Not up to Par
29 May 2017
I watched this film and was astounded that is is really awful. The acting is pathetic at best. Ginger Rogers was at her worst and for the most part, most of them were like they had never acted before...wooden. The dialogue was horrible. The basic appearance of the movie looked like a play that was filmed. I found myself thinking of one of the worst movies ever filmed, Plan 9 From Outer Space and thought this was worse than that and that is saying a lot. It doesn't appear that anyone took any pride in the making of this movie as the writing could have been better done by a second grader. The acting , with some of the top stars of the day, was worse than worse. The actual film itself was lacking in the way it was projected for the rest of us to view. Boring would be putting it nicely for this less than stellar film. Time to relegate it to the burial it deserves only deeper

Better than most of the others
29 May 2017
Actually, I didn't really pay attention to Roma's accent as much as the different goofs in the various rooms shown in the movie at the diff times. The day of the wedding, after she took her vows, it shows her in a bedroom using a "princess phone", which did not come out until much later . The mention again of her yearbook comment of not wanting to become a housewife backfired on her as was indeed a housewife after marrying Jack, There were other goofs in the movie and it would appear that those researching for scenes were not particularly careful when doing so. Unfortunately the portrayal of Jack was way off and lacking in acting and character and a good thing he was not the major player in this movie . Of all the movies about this misguided and over played families in history, Roma's portrayal was probably the better of them all. The latter mini series out with Katie Holmes was awful to be blunt. She cannot act her way out of a paper bag and did an injustice to the latest of all the movies about the Kennedys.

Booty calls
21 May 2017
I enjoy the general premise of the show except for the dinner time conversation that should not be taking place as they are discussing open investigations in front of those not a part of the job.

Frank has a knack of having a double standard .Booty calls in the first season with a reporter and now another reporter and yet he purports to be a good Catholic .. I find this unnerving because in many episodes he comes off as the good catholic and yet he does this without benefit of remarriage and at his convenience it seems . Not a good tone to be projecting to others

Gormley is a Lt.
21 May 2017
I too was surprised about the story line of Sid's and the wife, especially with a fellow cop. Nikki was asked by a "rent a cop" who she was and stated Nikki Reagan., Again, she uses her middle name when it suits her instead of her last name of Boyle. Like trying to show off, which her character does all too well.Am getting tired of her immature attitude and story lines. For someone in college, she is so immature.

Gormley was called Sgt by the commissioner when in fact by this time he is a Lt. Erin was wearing a dress to work, inappropriate for daytime as when she leaned over at her desk the cleavage was a bit much.

By this time, would think the writers would interject some past into the episodes. W e have seen pictures on the dresser of Mary and Joe so why not delve into the past and give the viewers a look into Franks wife and son, Joe? It would give the some context to the family

In one of the pat episodes where Erin is contemplating how to make some extra money for Nikki's college, Nikki came up with going to her mother's alma mater, Columbia and that she had a friend whose parents were giving her an apt and invited Nikki to move in, thus saving money for dear old mom. In this episode, it appears Nikki is living in a dorm so what happened to the "sharing an apt with her friend " to save money ??

Not P.C.
21 May 2017
I enjoy the series and know it is definitely fiction because these characters would not be getting away with what they are in real life. I had a problem with the statement made by the son, Lt Sloan, who is making the remark to someone that he is stuck on a "routine rape stakeout." There is nothing about a rape that is routine nor should it have been taken so lightly in the characters statement. Granted, this episode was in 1998, but domestic violence and rape had escalated by then to alarming statistics . The characters don't seem to have real jobs that necessitates them being at work for any length of time so hope people take note in this that in real hospitals , real people take care of their patients and real law enforcement personnel also are doing theirs also . I watch or rather listen to these episodes while doing thing around the house and take them with a grain of salt .

Not a Reagan but a Boyle
21 May 2017
I still have a problem with the dinner table conversation as they should not be discussing active cases in front of other, especially kids as kids have a way of telling things out of turn to others. This practice of discussing cases is unacceptable and at one point Frank made a point of mentioning not discussing work at the table and Linda at one point asked that they stop discussing work at their Sunday dinners.

Nikki, the immature one of the bunch , has a habit of using her last name or middle name when it is convenient for her. In this episode, she states she is a Reagan once again. She is not a Reagan. She is a Boyle but uses the names when it serves her needs. Not a kid I would want around. A real smart mouth

Again, juvenile story lines and characters
21 May 2017
Not one of the great ones and again, a lame story line that drags on for what seems like forever. We are back to the clothing /hair..Still dressing like a 12 yr old with hair that looks like she ran a mixer thru it . Law enforcement dropping out of the sky is a really far reach but if it had to be anyone, glad it was the character least likely to ever win an award for being likable . Still do not understand why she traded in the wonderful house in the city for the dump in the country. To each his own but it tells me the character is not too intelligent . She works in a library when she bothers to show up for work and how hard can that be. I feel for the boyfriend of Henners character as he seems like a weak type with no back bone to stand up to Henners character, which I cannot stand . Miscast character the mother.

Update the juvenile clothing / hair of Aurora
21 May 2017
Not bad for "G" rated stuff. Wondering when they are going to dress Aurora's character like an adult instead of a 12 yr old. The dresses in most of the movies are juvenile, shorter than her juvenile coats . The hair looks like it has been thru a mixer and way beyond looking like an adult should. Same with the purses and shoes. Totally not adult looking nor are the lines she is given to speak. For someone allegedly with a masters in library science, she looks and acts like a teenager.

For me, Henner is not who I would have put in as the mother. Her superiority complex is beyond getting old . The new "boyfriend" is a lot more mature than Auroras character and seems out of place in that dinky backwards town. He can do much better that that. Falling for someone as very unsophisticated as Aurora is funny. The movies are good escapism but fear not, not even close to competing with anything else on TV.

It finally hit me where I had seen the "reporter" friend of Aurora's..she is the girl in the Toyota commercials. She also doesn't come across as too bright for a reporter. Guess its the small , backwards town ambiance

"G" rated at best
21 May 2017
Obnoxious, annoying is true for this one and the series. Way beyond not believable . Cannot imagine the towns people being this immature but its fiction . Wish the author would work with the characters and bring up to a level of maturity and level-headedness . Hard to believe this berg is as backwards as it seems but then again, it's only fiction. As the series progresses, they get more annoying , especially Auroras . We all know Candice is more mature that this or is she ? Having seen her a few times on a talk show have my doubts. She is still a little girl in little girl clothing with little girl lines

Juvenile story lines and juvenile characters
21 May 2017
This wouldn't be happening in real life or even in the backwards town they live in. Law enforcement wouldn't be this dumb or lacking in trying to solve a crime and Auroa wouldn't have gotten away with keeping that skull for as long as she did. Putting it in her mother's purse...really ? seriously ? not in real life She doesn't seem to have a real job as she comes and goes as she pleases but in real life that wouldn't be happening . For someone how allegedly has a masters degree, she acts and dresses like a 12 year old . The hair has to go. Its uncombed and awful. The dresses are shorter than her little girl coats and her accessories are way beyond unlikely in this day and age. How about dressing your characters like real adults instead of something out of a comic book

Marilyn and Bobby : Her Final Affair
1 June 2016
The acting isn't the best but the story line , even if partially fictionalized,

gives the viewer a glimpse into the private lives of two different individuals that came to meet and share some together .

The actor portraying Bobby has played that same role before so apparently is doing something right .

Given what we know now about both Marilyn and Bobby , it would appear that Bobby enjoyed being the center of someone's universe because he certainly wasn't at home with Ethel , always pregnant and chasing after all the kids that she never made time for her husband . Most men stray because they don't get enough attention at home so cannot blame him for this short affair except that he was already married with kids .

I did find a flaw / inaccuracy in the script and deliverance of said line and that was when he and Marilyn were walking along the beach, she made a comment to the effect that he already had six kids and that she had none.., incorrect information because by that time , Bobby actually had seven kids ...

Facts twisted
17 September 2015
Erin is prepping her grandfather , Henry , about a case he was involved in many years before and when she questions him about the year it actually happened , she makes a comment about not having been born yet...her character actually had been born prior to the incident while the actress playing the part was also... Actress is 45, which puts her birth prior to the incident ...in past episodes , her characters age has come into question when comments have been made which contradict what was in the storyline from season to season... With the age of her daughter fixed into several previous scripts , writers should be more careful when bringing it back into the fold and make sure they coincide .

Religious connotations within storyline
17 September 2015
The storyline was going along pretty well until the sit down with Frank Reagan and the Cardinell. What is hard to grasp is the kissing of ones ring by another human being , especially a man in his station in life. It is repulsive to see a grown man kiss the ring of another man , in his religious garb, as if the one receiving the gesture is considered better than the other . I keep finding the religious aspects in this show a bit unnerving as it seems to flaunt it every week but in this particular episode to see one man literally bowing to another is unacceptable ....Is the show catering to ones religion by outlining ones faults ? Time to delete the religious aspect on this show and leave it in its respective place..elsewhere

Kitchen remodeled ?
11 June 2015
In the beginning , we had a different Nikki, which was never explained except that when she reappeared, Frank notices she got her hair cut . Also, when did they remodel the kitchen ? White cupboards in the beginning but brown later on. And casting Len Cariou as Henry...he is only about five years older than Selleck. Danny and Linda can't seem to make it on Danny's salary and I am sure it isn't all that bad, being a detective but when it boils down to prioritizing,,they are paying for private school and could send their kids to public school, which would save a lot of money and now that Linda has gone back to work, they should be a little more financially secure. Do all detectives in NY City dress up in suits and ties cause they sure don't here.

Inappropriate table talk
11 June 2015
I still have a problem with the discussions at the Sunday dinner table . Real law enforcement does not discuss current and open cases at the dinner table in front of others especially kids , wives, etc. Erin is full of herself when she continues to tell anyone who asks or she tells anyone who cares that she is an "assistant district attorney in Manhatten " ..Get over yourself, Erin. You are nothing more than an ADA in a pool of many others and no more important than anyone else and correct terminology among the layman, the title of ones job is cut down to three little letters, not spelled out like some over-indulged female legal eagle .

Did Frank rob a bank while a beat cop or what. He and the rest speak about the house that he lives in as theirs while growing up. What beat cop made that kind of money to afford a house of that size in that neighborhood ...

And speaking of money, did Frank not help his kids with their college expenses at all ? How come Erin doesn't still have student loans to pay off as she had law school after college and doubt she could have paid them off this soon.

In this final episode of the season, why in the heck did they have to wait for the arraingments of perps before he could run them for warrants ? That is a crock .. Anyone knows a cop can run a suspect for wants and warrants from his MDT's in their cars or from a desk terminal. And running wants and warrants is not limited to just cops... Civilians in law enforcement can also run them and so much more

Time to get Danny a new partner ..Baez is boring ...the lines written for her are not fit for a partner ...

If you want to put some spark into this series, how about some more background or flashbacks on Joe and Mary...we have seen photos of them so show us how they fit into the family life of the Reagans .We know that Joe was killed by his own but have never seen how it happened nor anything about Mary's illness and death. . Put some bodies with the characters that are referenced to. characters we hear, about but have never seen

Missed the boat
11 June 2015
This season lacked intrigue and spark ...It needs a jump start, something to spark and hold the viewers attention. In the beginning , there was levity, humor , sarcasm and so much more . We have seen Becketts appearance loom from sultry to just plain Jane. She started out with a hairstyle that rocked and makeup that accentuated her eyes but as the seasons wore on, her hair got light and scraggly ...Like now that she landed her man, she didn't need to dress to impress. By the time season 7 rolled around , we had just another female with hair too long for her age and looking dirty and uncombed.

Although this was one of the better episodes of the season ,the writers totally missed a golden opportunity to do a flashback to season 6 episode 5 which aired on 10/21/13 "Time Will Tell" wherein the guest character called Kate "senator " and predicted she and Castle would have three kids "...and then comes this seasons final episode where Kate is asked to run for the senate ...did anyone else pick up on this tidbit from the past to see it ignored for the season finale ?
