SciFi without violence

Do we have to imagine a better future to create it? So why are many of the future worlds in the movies dark, gloomy, violent? Do we really need violence and death to enjoy our entertainment? Do we really need doom and gloom and grey visuals to relax? I'm hoping good writing can offer non-violent visions of possible futures. Here's a list of SciFi and Fantasy with little violence. I have not seen them all yet, but will seek them out.
