AMC hits another home run with TWD, a show which puts a new lens on the old zombie-horror story. The tension created during the action scenes is mind blowing - you never know what is going to happen next. The quality of the prosthetic make-up effects and gore are amazing, especially once you learn that they pretty much never use CG on the zombies. All that being said, my favorite aspect of the show is the depth of the characters and how they change and adapt to this new post-apocalyptic world. They are constantly put in situations where they need to decide between what is the morally right choice or the choice that will give them a better chance for survival. The viewer is able to make an emotional connection with these characters that is usually lacking in a typical zombie gore movie. Daryl is my personal favorite on the show. He’s not the most verbal character, but everything he says is right on!
