Big List of Notable Actors

by Willscrlt | created - 21 Jan 2013 | updated - 16 Jun 2014 | Public

"Some actors are undeservedly forgotten; none are undeservedly remembered" (a twist on W.H. Auden's quote about books)

This list started with a few names of actors I thought were particularly incredible. I added more names over time, and the list has grown quite large.

Is it complete? Of course not! You can help by leaving me some recommendations below. Be sure to include either a link to the actor's page on IMDB or some of his best works so that I can track him down. Please don't be offended if I do not include every recommendation in the list.

What makes an actor worthy of being included in this list? It could be a lifetime body of work, a single line delivered such that it stole the scene, an emotional portrayal that really moved me, a terrific dancing or singing number, or maybe just an indescribable sense that the person is someone worth noting.

I have tried to include a very diverse group of actors, but since I watch mostly American, Canadian, and British movies and TVs, there is a bias that cannot be helped. Also, I avoid horror flicks, psychological thrillers, and unhappy endings. I've included "big name stars", character actors, and some who have hardly spoken a line; regardless, they all have impressed me in some way.
