1. Lucille Ball

Actress | I Love Lucy

The woman who will always be remembered as the crazy, accident-prone, lovable Lucy Ricardo was born Lucille Desiree Ball on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York, the daughter of Desiree Evelyn "DeDe" (Hunt) and Henry Durrell "Had" Ball. Her father died before she was four, and her mother worked ...

"Queen of the comedy", she is often named like this, but for simple tv watchers she is only known as Lucy, which name she used in all of her shows. Only watched one though (I Love Lucy), she was definitely the 50's most influencing woman on later comedy actresses. Never will be my favourite though, without her, a perfect show (and then who knows) wouldn't have been written.

(1911 - 1989)

2. Desi Arnaz

Producer | I Love Lucy

Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha III was born in Santiago, Cuba on March 2, 1917. His father was the mayor of Santiago. The 1933 revolution led by Fulgencio Batista had landed his father in jail and stripped the family of its wealth, property and power. His father was released because of the ...

The Cuban actor, who is best remembered as Ricky Ricardo in the famous I Love Lucy series, and my favourite actor since then. A man of talent, which cannot be described, it's just so awesome. Not just his acting though, but even his laughing voice could made me laugh too for hours. It is clear, that he was the soul of the show.

(1917 - 1986)

3. William Frawley

Actor | I Love Lucy

William Frawley was born in Burlington, Iowa. As a boy he sang at St. Paul's Catholic Church and played at the Burlington Opera House. His first job was as a stenographer for the Union Pacific Railroad. He did vaudeville with his brother Paul, then joined pianist Franz Rath in an act they took to ...

Fred Mertz, neighbour of the Ricardos. With these words I could end the line, but William Frawley deserves more, because his own life experiences influenced his character (even the hate between Vivian Vance, her co-star actress). The moment where Ricky and Fred did anything together will be never forgotten.

(1887 - 1966)

4. Vivian Vance

Actress | I Love Lucy

Born as Vivian Roberta Jones in Cherryvale, Kansas, she had a brother and four sisters. Her family moved to Independence, Kansas, and later studied drama under Anna Ingleman and William Inge. Their next move, to Albuquerque, New Mexico, brought her to that city's Little Theatre, which provided her ...

Maybe the most remembered situations in the I Love Lucy show were those, where Fred and Ethel, the couple fighted. It wasn't a secret, that Vance and Frawley never liked each other, but that made the series even more exciting, watching lovers who are actually hating each other in real life.

(1909 - 1979)

5. Rod Serling

Writer | The Twilight Zone

A former boxer, paratrooper and general all-around angry young man, Rod Serling was one of the radical new voices that made the "Golden Age" of television. Long before The Twilight Zone (1959), he was known for writing such high-quality scripts as "Patterns" and "Requiem for a Heavyweight," both ...

Rod Serling was the sci-fi and thriller stories creator as I believe, because The Twilight Zone is definitely a frightening, but well written, and with its plot twists, it became a fantastic classic series. As a host, his voice at the begininng really took us into a fifth dimension, and at the ending, we couldn't escape from its grasp.

(1924 - 1975)

6. Alan Alda

Actor | M*A*S*H

Alan Alda (born under the name Alphonso Joseph D'Abruzzo) is an American actor, comedian, film director, and screenwriter from New York City. His father was the Italian-American actor Robert Alda. Alda's best known role was playing chief surgeon Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce in the ...

Alan Alda is famous for playing Captain Benjamin Franklin Pierce,or just "Hawkeye", a surgeon in the long runnning tv show, M.A.S.H. Although Alan Alda's comedy acting at the beginning of the series were much more funny and better, but we must admit, that when we went on taking directing and writing credits on later M.A.S.H. episodes (such as the last, "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen", which is the most watched television show episode of all time in the U.S.), it became creative, but more dramatic.

(1936 -

7. Harry Morgan

Actor | M*A*S*H

Harry Morgan was a prolific character actor who starred in over 100 films and was a stage performer. Known to a younger generation of fans as "Col. Sherman T. Potter" on M*A*S*H (1972). Also known for his commanding personality throughout his career, he tackled movies and television in a way no ...

I only know Harry Morgan's performance from M.A.S.H., playing Colonel Sherman Potter from the fourth season. An awesome actor, who was really experienced in what he was doing, he not just replaced a famous actor (Mclean Stevenson playing Colonel Henry Blake for three seasons), but became a favourised character, making it both happy and sad moment, when they said goodbye to each other on the last day of the Korean War!

(1915 - 2011)

8. William Shatner

Actor | Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

William Shatner has notched up an impressive 70-plus years in front of the camera, displaying heady comedic talent and being instantly recognizable to several generations of cult television fans as the square-jawed Captain James T. Kirk, commander of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise.

Shatner was born ...

Although not my favourite character, playing James T. Kirk, captain of the starship Enterprise in the most popular sci-fi franchise Star Trek made him really famous, with his determined and sometimes egoist looking characteristic but in a great episode of the classic Twilight Zone, he made a fine acting (Nightmares at 20,000 feet)

(1931 -

9. Leonard Nimoy

Actor | Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

Leonard Simon Nimoy was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Dora (Spinner) and Max Nimoy, who owned a barbershop. His parents were Ukrainian Jewish immigrants. Raised in a tenement and acting in community theaters since age eight, Nimoy did not make his Hollywood debut until he was 20, with a bit ...

Who wouldn't know the half-human, half-vulcan character from the Star Trek series, in which Nimoy even created a sign for the creators. Mr. Spock is the brain of the original tv show, without such a character, I bet it wouldn't have been such success.

And he just passed away... R.I.P. Spock

(1931 - 2015)

10. Andy Griffith

Actor | The Andy Griffith Show

Andy Griffith is best known for his starring roles in two very popular television series, The Andy Griffith Show (1960) and Matlock (1986). Griffith earned a degree in music from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In the 1950s, he became a regular on The Ed Sullivan Show (1948) and ...

A kind and determined man, never carrying a gun, because he want to be respected by his will, not by his power. Simply said words, describing Andy Taylor, sheriff of Mayberry in one of the 60's best family comedies, The Andy Griffith Show.

(1926 - 2012)

11. Don Knotts

Actor | The Andy Griffith Show

Don Knotts, the legendary television character actor, was born Jesse Donald Knotts on July 21, 1924 in Morgantown, West Virginia, to William Jesse Knotts and the former Elsie Luzetta Moore. He was the youngest of four sons in a family that had been in America since the 17th century.

His first stint ...

In a few words we can desribe Andy Griffith, but not Don Knotts, whom I think was one of the best comedy actors in the whole world, and the character he played, Barney Fife on the Andy Griffith Show was not just hilarious for 5 seasons, but even wasn't replaceable after he had to leave the series.

(1924 - 2006)

12. Ted Danson

Actor | Cheers

Ted Danson is well known for his role as Sam Malone in the television series Cheers (1982). During the show's 11-year run, he was nominated nine times for an Emmy Award as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and won twice, in 1990 and 1993. The role also earned him a Golden Globe Award for ...

Ted Danson will always be remembered as Sam Malone, the bartender from the long running series, Cheers. His performance made this situation comedy a classic 80's show, which is probably my favourite from that time. Of course he is not the only person, who made Cheers fantastic, though he is the only one, whose character remained the same in the whole series: humourous and dramatic.

(1947 -

13. Mary Tyler Moore

Actress | Ordinary People

Mary Tyler Moore was born in Flatbush, Brooklyn, on December 29, 1936. Moore's family relocated to California when she was eight. Her childhood was troubled, due in part to her mother's alcoholism. The eldest of three siblings, she attended a Catholic high school and married upon her graduation, in...

Though I don't think, that Mary Tyler Moore is an awesome actress, because I sometimes found her acting really boring, and not even funny, there are moments in her life, that made her a "classic person". Her best performance absolutely is in Dick Van Dyke Show, playing Laura Petrie, a tv show writer's wife. With her playing an ordinary housewife, made a life not so ordinary.

(1936 -

14. Ted Knight

Actor | Mary Tyler Moore

Actor Ted Knight paid his dues with nearly two decades of relatively obscure dramatic, often villainous television work, before finding enduring fame in a scene-stealing supporting turn on a classic 1970s sitcom, hilariously overplaying a silver-haired, self-important imbecile. Although the ...

Anchorman Tex Baxter in Mary Tyler Moore. I should not say anything more, Ted Knight made a fantastic appearance at the first season of the series, and remained until the show ended. Every joke is around him, it could have been called the Ted Knight Show, but that's another story I think.

(1923 - 1986)
