“Harry Potter” star Tom Felton is currently filming the series “Gandhi,” where he plays Josiah Oldfield, the future Mahatma’s friend in London.
Part of the series, produced by Sameer Nair for India’s Applause Entertainment and directed by Hansal Mehta, follows the young Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi when he was in London to study law and missing vegetarian food. It examines how Gandhi’s chance discovery of a vegetarian restaurant brings him to the lesser-known Vegetarian Society of London, of which Oldfield is one of the founders. This chance meeting proves to be formative for Gandhi, as it is Oldfield who first discovers the writer in him and encourages him to pen articles for the Vegetarian Magazine.
“It is about the relationship between the two of them and how they found each other at exactly the right time. And how without meeting each other, their lives would have definitely been different,...

A certain actor has been taking over Hollywood as of late, and his name is Glen Powell.
The actor, hailing from Austin, Texas, has a long list of credits to his name, with various appearances on television series over the years. But, he reached movie star status after starring in two of the biggest films of the last two years.
Both Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone but You were bonafide commercial hits, but they are far from the only series and movies of Mr. Powell's you'll want to add to your must-watch list.
Powell's acting career started with a small role in Spy Kids 3-D Game, and a few years later, he went on to star in The Great Debaters alongside Hollywood heavy hitters Forest Whitaker and Denzel Washington, who also directed it.
More roles would follow that, including guest stints on CSI: Miami, Rizzoli & Isles, and NCIS.

Margaret Qualley is no longer going to star in Hulu’s limited series about Amanda Knox, Variety has confirmed.
The untitled series was announced in March with Qualley set to star and executive produce. She has reportedly exited the project due to scheduling conflicts. The role will now be recast.
This is not the first time Hulu has lost its lead actress in a limited series based on a real person. Kate McKinnon was once attached to play Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in what would become “The Dropout,” the role that was eventually played by Amanda Seyfried. Seyfried would go on to win an Emmy for her work on the show.
Hulu has ordered eight one-hour episodes of the show. The official description states that it is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.

Before he was stealing hearts in Set it Up and Anyone But You, flying planes in Top Gun: Maverick, and chasing tornadoes in Twisters, Glen Powell played frat boy Chad Radwell in the Ryan Murphy drama Scream Queens. This short-lived series may have fizzled out with little fanfare in its second and final season, but for many (myself included), this is the project that first put Powell and his charming humor on our radar.
Scream Queens is a slasher comedy, set at the fictional Wallace University in season 1 and the C.U.R.E. Institute medical school in season 2, that follows the girls of the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority as they try to stay alive in the midst of a killing spree. The popular girls known as the Chanels are the killer’s primary targets, but the killer isn’t afraid to take the frat boys of the Dickie Dollar Scholars down a peg either.

Abigail Breslin is opening up about her experience with Little Miss Sunshine.
The 27-year-old actress spoke out about her Oscar-nominated role at the age of 10 in an interview with fellow former child star Christy Carlson Romano.
Keep reading to find out more…
“That’s the thing I feel about child acting and everything is that, you’re given all of the responsibility but none of the respect,” Abigail said.
“Of a child laborer?” Christy laughed.
“The adults, they’re like, ‘We want you to be this way, this way, do this’ — whatever,” Abigail said.
“But your autonomy is like not really,” Christy said.
“Yeah, it’s not really that important,” Abigail said.
Christy said she thought directors and other production staff who were parents were better prepared to connect with child actors.
“They were way nicer to work with. They could connect with us on a whole different level. But it is interesting.

Abigail Breslin is subtle as the 1960s victim of sexual crime in a dramatisation of a landmark case that is a welcome defence of US jurisprudence
Here is a fraught and muscular courtroom drama in the strident 1990s style, with the US legal system fitted out with a top-notch cast including Luke Wilson, Ryan Phillippe, Andy Garcia, Donald Sutherland and Kyle MacLachan. As various lawyers and judges, they ditch suit jackets, roll up shirtsleeves and make show-stopping objections in an account of the 1960s legal case that gave rise to the “Miranda rights” – “You have the right to remain silent … ” It’s a welcome defence of US jurisprudence for an era in which it is under threat from Donald Trump’s machinations, and is one that also benefits from the cooperation – apparently for the first time – of Patricia Weir, the rape victim at its centre (otherwise known by the pseudonym...

Abigail Breslin is paying tribute to his My Sister’s Keeper co-star Evan Ellingson after news of his death.
In a post on Instagram, Breslin remembered Ellingson, who played her big brother in the 2009 film.
“Evan Ellingson was a kind, funny and extremely talented human being,” Breslin shared. “Evan was a genuinely thoughtful person who cared so much about turning in the best performance, which he accomplished. Some of his scenes in Msk still give me chills.”
Breslin continued, “He was also silly, funny, a prankster, a lover of Red Bull (I hated the smell of Red Bull) and he was energetic and the life of the party.”
Although the on-camera siblings didn’t keep in touch after filming, Breslin said that Ellingson, “always stayed in my mind as a wonderful and sweet soul, one I am grateful to have crossed paths with. My prayers and condolences are with his family at this difficult time.

Abigail Breslin is alleging that Aaron Eckhart acted so aggressively toward her on the set of the movie “Classified” that she was afraid to be alone with him. The allegations are contained within a lawsuit filed, obtained by TheWrap, by the film’s production companies against the “Little Miss Sunshine” actress for breach of contract. The suit claims that her “specious” accusations cost the film $80,000.
The lawsuit, filed on Thursday in the Los Angeles Superior County Superior Court states, “During the course of production, the entire production almost ground to a halt when Breslin advised the production of Eckhart’s (allegedly) aggressive, demeaning, and unprofessional behavior which she insisted placed her at various times in peril.”
The complaint states that the plaintiffs do not know if Breslin confronted her co-star about the alleged behavior, but they were aware that she wrote a letter to the Screen Actors Guild “setting forth her fears and blasting Mr.

October brings many rewards, not the least of which is a slew of fantastic motion pictures to watch. I love a good horror movie, and the spooky season is the perfect time to bask in the morbid side of Hollywood and beyond. Whether you travel back in time to feast on Universal's classic monster series like "Frankenstein," "Dracula," and "Creature from the Black Lagoon" or indulge in modern fare such as "Hereditary," "Get Out," or "M3GAN," there's enough variety to please all but the pickiest of movie fans.
Moreover, most horror films require multiple viewings to fully appreciate, if only to catch all the sneaky Easter eggs and clues the filmmakers squeeze into every frame. Watch Jordan Peele's "Nope" again, and you'll pick up a hefty dose of not-so-subtle foreshadowing that'll make you respect the alien drama even more. Or take another look at any of M. Night Shyamalan...

Out of all the different types of films, the horror genre takes some of the biggest swings when it comes to endings. From bleak conclusions to those that tie everything up in a neat bow, horror movie endings have shocked, confused, and annoyed audiences over the years. One's opinion on horror's most (in)famous endings depends a lot on personal preference. Do you prefer an ending that offers hope or one that drives home a message of wretchedness? Are you a fan of the Shyamalan twist, or do you go for a more subtle approach?
A lot of thought goes into the ending of any film, and horror movies in particular. Sometimes, the director or writer's original vision isn't what ends up on screen. How test audiences react to a film can alter its ending considerably, and sometimes studios just can't get behind the film's creative vision. In other instances,...

With the streaming bubble bursting and entertainment companies retooling their vision for the future of television, it seems like every new day yields a polarizing series cancellation. From viewership stats to marketing pitfalls and budgetary concerns, TV series are seeing the plug pulled at a seemingly faster rate than ever before — in some cases, after production has been completed and even before they’ve had a chance to air.
For example, after outcry over recently canned series like “1899,” “First Kill” and “Warrior Nun,” Netflix’s new co-ceos Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters said they have never canceled a “successful show.” Platforms like AMC, Starz, Showtime and HBO Max have pulled shows despite having the majority of filming finished or nearly done so. And for Hulu, journalists and audiences raised disappointment following the cancellation of “Reboot.”

Chicago – If you’ve watched any cop procedurals on TV or otherwise, you’ve seen the recitation of the “Miranda Warning”, but what you may not have known is the incredible true story behind that recitation. Director Michelle Danner is the filmmaker behind “Miranda’s Victim.”
Ernesto Miranda (Sebastian Quinn) is accused of rape by Trish Weir (Abigail Breslin) in the early 1960s. Justice for that particular crime is difficult now and especially in that era, and the confession coerced out of Miranda leads to a Supreme Court decision to protect the perpetrator and law enforcement through the Miranda Warning. However the victim’s story was not over … and the wheels of justice kept turning.

"I don't want to see you become damaged goods..." "It's not just for me. What about the next girl?" Vertical has revealed an official trailer for the legal thriller film titled Miranda's Victim, getting a direct-to-vod release in October this fall. Based on true events, the film first premiered at the 2023 Santa Barbara Film Festival earlier this year as well as a few other smaller festivals. In 1963, after Trish Weir is kidnapped and sexually assaulted, her assailant is caught and tried. After he confesses without legal representation during the trial, he serves a two-year sentence, only to have the verdict later overturned. This retrial triggers a legal proceeding that forever changes the nation's justice system. As rotten as this sounds, it's what leads to the creation of the "Miranda rights". Abigail Breslin stars with Ryan Phillippe as a vicious defense attorney, plus Luke Wilson, Emily VanCamp, Mireille Enos, Enrique Murciano,...

A number of Hollywood stars are paying tribute to Alan Arkin, who died at 89.
“Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man,” his sons Adam, Matthew and Anthony shared in a joint statement announcing his death. “A loving husband, father, grand and great-grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed.”
Arkin was perhaps best known for his Oscar-winning work in Little Miss Sunshine, opposite Abigail Breslin, Steve Carell, Paul Dano and Toni Collette. He also starred in Argo, which garnered him another Oscar nomination. The actor most recently was nominated for back-to-back Emmys for best supporting actor in a comedy series for his work in The Kominsky Method.
“Alan Arkin’s talent knew no bounds,” Journey Gunderson, executive director of the National Comedy Center, said in a statement. “From his early days performing improv at The Second City to his stage and film work,...

Hollywood is paying tribute to Oscar winner Alan Arkin, who died on Thursday at 89.
Known for his dry, straight-faced humor and wide range of roles, Arkin was a beloved member of the entertainment world throughout his more than seven decades of acting on screen and on stage.
Arkin won his Oscar for his role in the 2006 indie road comedy “Little Miss Sunshine.” Arkin played Edwin Hoover, the nutty grandfather and biggest supporter of his granddaughter Olive Hoover (Abigail Breslin), a young girl competing in beauty pageant that sends her whole family on a road trip from New Mexico to California in their Volkswagen van.
He also earned Oscar nominations for the 1966 film “The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming,” the 1968 film “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter” and Ben Affleck’s 2012 film “Argo.” He recently received two Primetime Emmys for his role as Norman Newlander on “The Kominsky Method,...

In films ranging from Catch-22 to Little Miss Sunshine, Arkin was renowned for the technical virtuosity he brought to each role of his colossal career
Alan Arkin, Oscar winning actor in Little Miss Sunshine, dies aged 89Alan Arkin: a life in pictures
Tough, unsentimental, witty, gravel-voiced and bullet-headed, Alan Arkin was a wiry character actor and comic presence who had a colossal career on stage, TV and movies. He came from the era of male stars such as Walter Matthau, Jack Lemmon, Ben Gazzara, Robert Duvall and Peter Falk – actors who projected a kind of take-it-or-leave-it pugnacity, integrity and strength. The always sympathetic and technically brilliant Arkin perhaps came into his own late in life, his face and shaven head morphing into a black-comic skull of derision and hilarity as the outrageous old guy who says what he wants because he’s decided he doesn’t care any more what...

Acting legend Alan Arkin is dead at age 89.
The Oscar, Tony, Emmy, BAFTA, SAG, and Golden Globe winner passed away at his home.
Perhaps best known for his roles in “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “Little Miss Sunshine,” for which he won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award, Arkin began his acting career in 1957 — and ended up with a body of work of startling range. Arkin was an early member of the Second City comedy troupe and starred on Broadway with his Tony-winning turn in 1963’s “Enter Laughing.”
His film breakout was via comedy as well: in his first major onscreen role in Norman Jewison’s 1967 Cold War caper “The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming” he plays the “political officer” on a Soviet submarine that runs aground on a small New England island of only 200 residents. The sub’s captain, too embarrassed to radio the motherland for help, sends...
