After three decades of eligibility where he didn’t appear on a single ballot, Peter Frampton was starting to think he’d never be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But once voters finally had to chance to select him earlier this year, things changed very quickly. He learned the good news over the weekend when his manager phoned him up to say he made it. “I was absolutely blown away,” Frampton says. “My mind has been sort of a blur ever since I found out, especially...

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has revealed the names of 16 artistes who will be inducted in 2024. According to ‘Variety’, the diverse list includes R&b/rock pioneer Big Mama Thornton, pop superstars Cher and Dionne Warwick, as well as 1970s-rooted rockers like Peter Frampton, Foreigner, and Ozzy Osbourne, alongside 1990s icons such as the Dave Matthews Band and Mary J. Blige.
Jimmy Buffett’s inclusion among the inductees comes as a surprise. His entry is unexpected not only because the late singer/songwriter was not on the ballot this year but also because he had never been nominated before.
‘Variety’ reports that the Rock Hall’s committee, seemingly in a sentimental mood after Buffett’s passing seven months ago, chose to honour him via a separate, non-voted category for “musical excellence”.

Kevin Bacon, dancing away, in 4K? Footloose is coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK, it’s been confirmed.
Paramount Pictures is wasting little time sorting new catalogue releases for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format in 2024, with the news that the 1980s hit Footloose is heading to the format.
Already confirmed in America, a UK release has now been earmarked for February 12th 2024, and the film has gone up for order now. You can find it here.
Initially, it’s only available as a Steelbook release, although it’s expected that a regular 4K disc package isn’t far away. It’s the original film, incidentally, that’s getting the release, and not the remake.
Update: The regular, cheaper release is now confirmed for 13th May 2024. You can find it here.
Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer, Dianne Wiest and John Lithgow thus take the lead roles here, with Herbert Ross behind the camera.

Move over John Wick, there’s a new martial arts action hero: Dev Patel’s titular underdog in his directorial debut, “Monkey Man.” Inspired by the ancient legend of the Hindu deity Hanuman, the invincible Monkey God, Patel creates his own mythic avenging angel in the tradition of such Korean action films as “Oldboy” and “Man From Nowhere.” Lowly yet scrappy and full of rage, Patel’s Kid is determined to take down the sinister elite of the fictional Yatana, Mumbai’s version of Gotham, and kill the corrupt cop, Rana (Sikandar Kher), who brutally murdered his mother and scarred him for life.
Patel (a martial arts competitor and teacher in London in the early 2000s with a passion for the film genre), trained rigorously with fight coordinator Brahim Chab (“The Foreigner”) and performed all the fights himself. Although he embraced Chab’s intricate choreography, he also...

Weeknd fans tuning in to “Saturday Night Live” this weekend certainly got their money’s worth, as the artist not only performed his recent single “Blinding Lights,” but premiered a stunning new ballad called “Scared to Live” and showed off his comic chops in a musical skit and appeared briefly on “Weeknd Update” (geddit?).
The Weeknd’s two musical performances found him in the red-jacket-and-busted-nose look he’s been rocking during recent videos and TV appearances, which — in an unusual move for a musical artist — is related to the evolving storyline of the videos from his forthcoming album, “After Hours,” which appears to depict his character in the midst of a very bad night in Las Vegas. While his musical appearances on Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert were integrated into the storyline, these ones appeared to be more straight musical performances, albeit in full costume.

Billy Joel rattling off historic names and events most people under 30 have never heard of hardly seemed like the formula for a hit song, especially in 1989 when the charts were dominated by the likes of Poison, Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, Debbie Gibson, and New Kids on the Block. Thirty years ago this month, one of the most profoundly sad songs in pop music history hit Number One on the Hot 100. It was “The Living Years” by Mike + the Mechanics, which forced everyone within earshot of a radio throughout much of 1989 to consider that fact their parents will inevitably die and leave them with profound regret. “I wasn’t there that morning/When my Father passed away,” Paul Carrack sings in a typical verse. “I didn’t get to tell him/All the things I had to say.”

Back when he was in high school, Levi Hummon’s songwriting career nearly ended before it ever began. The son of songwriter Marcus Hummon (“Cowboy Take Me Away,” “Bless the Broken Road”) and Becca Stevens, an author, priest and CNN Hero who founded the Thistle Farms organization to help survivors of abuse and trafficking, Hummon traveled in some interesting and rarefied circles when he was growing up.
One of the family friends was songwriter Desmond Child, whose compositions include gazillion-selling Eighties FM-rock standards like Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” and Aerosmith’s “Angel.

Before we get to discussing, dissecting and debating the first of The Voice’s Season 15 Knockouts, some fearless predictions — eight to be exact. The following are the singers — chosen, cross my heart and hope to die, prior to seeing a moment of Monday’s show — that I didn’t expect to reach to reach the Top 24. Ready? Here we go…
From Team Adam: Tyke James, Steve Memmolo
From Team Blake: Colton Smith, Funsho
From Team Jennifer: Anthony Arya, MaKenzie Thomas
From Team Kelly: Claire DeJean, Zaxai
Ordinarily, I’d say that my fearless predictions should be taken with a whole shaker of salt.

Billy Joel celebrated a record-breaking milestone on Wednesday night – his 100th performance at Madison Square Garden – with a surprise guest. The New Yorker looked to New Jersey and enlisted Bruce Springsteen to celebrate the landmark moment. The pair of icons performed a couple of songs together.
Springsteen sat atop Joel’s piano for part of their performance of “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” as the platform that they were on spun. He also donned his guitar and after a one-two count they launched into “Born to Run” with the audience joining in...

If one thing is abundantly clear to anyone who’s ever spent time with Dave Grohl, it’s that he’s an even bigger music fan than he is a rock star. Whether talking about his favorite Van Halen album (“Fair Warning”) or getting to play drums as a teenager with Iggy Pop at a record release show in Toronto, he is as animated as he is on stage.
So Grohl and his Foo Fighters bandmates were the perfect people to resurrect Cal Jam, the massive festival held in 1974 and 1978, and last year when Grohl and the Foos flew the flag again, alongside Queens of the Stone Age, Cage the Elephant, Liam Gallagher and many more.
“Talk about bringing the party,” he says of the original festivals. “When I look at that lineup, I think about the musicianship. To see a band as funky as Earth, Wind & Fire, and then...

Congratulations, Chloe Kohanski!
The fan favorite contestant of season 13 — known for her unique sound and style — was crowned the winner of The Voice on Tuesday.
Kohanski’s win marks the sixth victory for veteran coach and People’s Sexiest Man Alive Blake Shelton — making him the top mentor with a record-breaking number of wins.
The star-studded evening featured performances by Bastille, Vince Gill, Jessie J, Norah Jones, Bebe Rexha, Sia and last year’s Voice winner Chris Blue. Kohanski was paired up with one of her idols, Billy Idol, to perform “White Wedding,” and it couldn’t have been a better match.

On Monday's Bones, Brennan refuses to guess if a victim was male or female after inspecting a skull because Hodgins is present. He's a fellow scientist, so it's not the same as making her determinations in front of Booth.
Living together means fewer inhibitions and no self-consciousness ... Tmi!
Later, Booth consoles Brennan after the team learns that the victim was just 14 years old. Sge makes it clear there is no empirical evidence that ghosts exist, but her emotions definitely do. It's okay to cry, Brennan.
Finally, in the last of the four "stand-alone" or "bonus" episodes held over from Season 7, Brennan and baby Christine share a tender moment in the kitchen… rocking out to Foreigner's hit single "Hot Blooded."
Watch three sneak peeks from "The Ghost in the Machine" below:

As the year draws to a close, Warner Bros. is beginning to look forward, as they’ve provided a few new images and synopses for choice options in their 2012 slate. This crop, only a small portion of their offerings for the next twelve months, consists of Bullet to the Head, Rock of Ages, Project X, and The Apparition. Nothing exhibited here is a big revelation for those who’ve been following the films for a few months — although I did learn that a movie titled “The Apparition” is coming out — but a new picture or two never hurt anybody. Now, let’s get down to business.

Two men are sitting at a table, one of whom speaks excitedly while the other appears bored.
"Stop me if you've heard this. A bunch of fresh-faced believers with a song in their heart, going up against killjoys determined to kill the kids' dreams. Yeah? Well, I bet you've never heard it told quite like this."
Cue: rising music.
Setting: Hollywood. Period: 1987, the age of Poison and Ratt.
Cue: titles
Rock Of Ages
"From the director of [the lesser version of] Hairspray, based on the hit Broadway musical."
Fade in.
A squalid spirited, yet neglected bar on the Sunset Strip is full of young people. Both the guys and girls wear colorful spandex and shaggy, feathered manes. A power ballad throbs as an older man explains the club is actually a church for fresh-faced believers with a song in their heart and a belly full of Jäger. But there are forces at work — diabolical...

New Line Cinema have debuted the trailer and poster for the almost parody-camp Rock of Ages, the adaptation of the stage musical love letter to 80′s rock music that comes to cinemas in June.
Directed by Hairspray’s Adam Shankman and co-starring the likes of Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta Jones, Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, Mary J.Blige, Bryan Cranston and Malin Akerman in hideous wigs, the movie follows the story of a young girl (Julianne Hough) who arrives in La during the height of the 80s rock scene, when hair, spandex and guitar solos were all over the place.
The movie is basically a vehicle for Tom Cruise to win a place back in the hearts and minds of the general public who have dismissed him as totally wacko since the infamous Oprah couch thing and from the looks of the trailer I think it just might work for him.

Supernatural made the move to Comic-Con’s big room, Hall H, this year, and had no trouble filling it with excited fans. In fact, the extra space was needed for the shrieks that met Jensen Ackles when he introduced a clip from the third episode of the show’s upcoming seventh season, which he directed. “This is a little slice of life back into Sam’s past,” described Ackles before a clip reel set to Foreigner’s “Long, Long Way From Home.”

Thanks to Cinema Blend, we have the following detailed highlights from the Supernatural panel in San Diego which wrapped up just a few moments ago. These are only a few select excerpts from their report, so make sure to head on over to the site by clicking on the link below in order to read it in full. The panel is starting! Jenson Ackles just stepped onto the stage. The crowd's going nuts. He's here to intro a clip. Sam's in it but no Dean... Clip time... 11:30 a.m. - Starts with a montage of clips (explosions, stabbings and other dramatic things) set to Foreigner's "Long, Long, Way Home." Afterward, the clip (spoilers!) features Jewel Staite and Sam having some kind of stand-off. It's implied that Sam knows this woman well. Cut to a flashback of the two of them as teens, hanging out and talking about moving around a lot.

Note - This recap was written in season 6, but I don't think there are any spoilers. Maybe a slight hint or two.
Previously: Mary and Jessica died, John sucked, and the brothers road tripped. Welcome to Supernatural, round 2.
In the middle of the woods, the guy from Glee plays a video game. Nice to know it's all about nature. I'd hum Don't Stop Believing, but he screams monster fodder. He's camping; we all know how this turns out. A monster growls in the background while another camper leaves a status report for Haley. I thought it was his girlfriend originally. The third camper stops his video game losing streak to go to the bathroom, which in Spn means first one to go..er..die. He gets spooked by a branch breaking and I get spooked by monster sounds. Hence the screaming starts. Gary (Glee guy) checks out what happened to...

Cj Cherryh has been in front of a great many themes now commonplace at ComicCon and elsewhere. Readers and fans have acknowledged her chops by voting her three Hugo Awards, three Nebula Awards, and fistfuls of other accolades over an illustrious thirty-year career. Her worlds of the imagination range from deep space to the Russian forests, from the intricacies of the human heart to the vaudeville of Hell itself. Her novels Downbelow Station, Finity’s End, Cyteen and others, set during the “Company Wars” of the 25th Century, built up a gritty, realistic universe of working men and women surpassing the similar visions of the Alien series or Blade Runner. Cyteen is, in this writer’s opinion, the finest exploration of the ramifications of human cloning yet written. Her Foreigner series has long explored the conflicted loyalties of a human envoy to an alien world, while her Fortress in the...

I debated titling this recap "Testicle Festival," but since we never found out what caused the victim -- a rich poser at a rock & roll fantasy camp, murdered by a fellow camper -- to have a prosthetic gonad, it didn't feel right. For me, the fantasy camp fell a little flat -- I didn't know the guy playing famous guest guitarist Erik Dalton was Josh Todd from Buckcherry. I just sorta thought he looked like Carey Hart. Nor did I understand how cool it was that Michael Des Barres played the camp's frontman, Simon Graham, until I looked him up online.

Your questions, my answers to help ease you through this seemingly endless "Bones" hiatus...
Bones!!!!! Please! Anything!!!! (thank you!) -Izzy
The 100th episode won't be the only hour in which we'll experience a bit of first season deja vu. In an upcoming ep, set at a rock and roll fantasy camp, Booth and Brennan will take on Foreigner's "Hot Blooded" -- which longtime fans will remember the duo also tackling back in year uno. Tamara Taylor (Cam) tells Ktv that viewers will see Emily Deschanel (Brennan) sing and David Boreanaz (Booth) "shred on the guitar." Let's just hope this attempt doesn't end with Booth getting blown up again.
I'm worried about Hart Hanson saying some fans might be shrieking at the flashback ep. After the last finale, shrieking = bad. -Faythe
That's fair. However, when we talked with creator Hart Hanson, he certainly didn't seem worried about fan reaction to the milestone hour being unpleasant.
