Exclusive: Film Bridge International is launching sales at AFM on horror Xelter, whose producers include The De Laurentiis Company (Hannibal) and Head Gear Films (Talk To Me).
The period horror film directed by Martin Bonnici is currently in production in Malta, with a cast of Maltese newcomers alongside actors including Brit Bobby Schofield (The Covenant) and Irish actor Moe Dunford (Vikings).
The WWII-set movie charts the legend of the Babaw, a supernatural creature known for stalking and killing children. The film, inspired by true historical events, sees citizens of Malta take shelter from Nazi bombardment in the ancient catacombs underneath the cities, where they suffered deadly peril from collapsing tunnels and entrapment. That experience scarred a generation, and led to stories about creatures that stole children who strayed too far away from their parents.
Screenplay was written by Scottish screenwriter and comics writer Emma Beeby, based on a story Beeby wrote with Gordon Rennie.

In the grand old splattered hallways of slasher horror movies, few franchises are as up and down and all around as that of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Since Tobe Hooper terrified us back in 1974 with, what is still, one of the greatest and most terrifying, raw and sadistic horror films ever made, there have been numerous attempts to match this landmark original.
Some have drawn cult fandom, some continue to fiercely divide (Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation), some are just plain terrible (2017’s Leatherface) or meh (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3: Leatherface) and some are rather underrated if very flawed attempts at taking the lore elsewhere while remaining somewhat true (Texas Chainsaw 3D). But now, ol’ Leatherface faces his next challenge, and most frightening…social media!

Fully immersing well-meaning, but equally complex, characters in life-altering situations that blend moments of humor with more serious emotions adds a layer of jeopardy to films that allow audiences to empathize with the fate of their anti-heroes. That’s certainly the case for actor Moe Dunford’s main character of Budge in the new crime thriller, ‘Nightride.’ […]

Moe Dunford shines in Stephen Fingleton’s well-constructed Belfast-set drug-deal drama that, though not perfect, has craftsmanship and brio in abundance
First-time screenwriter Ben Conway has put together an interesting Belfast crime thriller, which pans out in a single, unbroken 97-minute take in real time, about a drug dealer doing one last catastrophic deal. Stephen Fingleton, who made an impression with his own 2015 debut The Survivalist, directs it with some elan.
Most of the film is a single, locked-off shot of a guy at the wheel of his car, talking tensely to people via a hands-free mobile while his life terrifyingly unravels. This owes quite a bit to Steven Knight’s lo-fi 2014 classic Locke, starring Tom Hardy doing very much the same thing. Moe Dunford (from Paddy Breathnach’s homelessness drama Rosie) plays Budge: a tough drug dealer looking for the traditional final big score to get him out of...

The original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a movie that was based on the build-up of tension, until it became unbearable for the audience, with an explosion of violence that many don’t forget. Made in 1974, it has had sequels, been remade in many forms through the years and Netflix are the latest to give an attempt to revamp the series with a follow up to the original. The question is, does it live up to the original?

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise is an odd one. There’s about four different timelines despite not that many movies, and although the quality has actually been good (for the most part), none have really got close to the sheer sense of terror that the first movie delivered. As always though, I was very much excited to see the latest movie.
This one is a direct sequel to the original movie and not linked to any other sequels that came before it. A new timeline altogether set in present-day almost fifty years after the original as Leatherface is once again disrupted by a new group of young friends and is soon getting to...

“Texas Chainsaw Massacre” — not to be confused with “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” (1972) or “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (2003) — is the ninth film in the nearly 50-year-old “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” series. It’s also at least the fourth “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2,” and at least the third “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2” that ignores all the other sequels.
Canon? What’s canon? Canon got shot out of a cannon, and into some chain saws. Or, as this franchise sometimes likes to spell them, “chainsaws.”
All you need to know going into David Blue Garcia’s latest installment is that way back in the 1970s, a group of young travelers took a pitstop at the Sawyer family residence, and all but one of them were brutally murdered by that family of cannibals. The only surviving victim, Sally Hardesty, became a Texas Ranger who hunted elusive serial killer Leatherface for decades, but dang it, she never found the guy.

"A minute late, the deal is off!" Brainstorm Media has revealed an official US trailer for an indie thriller titled Nightride, arriving in the US starting in early March. The film is a "realtime one shot" thriller from BAFTA-nomninated director Stephen Fingleton and starring Moe Dunford. A small-time dealer tries to pull one last deal with cash borrowed from a dangerous loan shark. When the handover goes wrong and the deal is off, he races against the clock to find his missing product and secure a new buyer before the loan shark finds him. In addition to Moe Dunford as the driver, the small cast includes Joana Ribeiro, Gerard Jordan, Ciaran Flynn, John Travers, and Stephen Rea. This first premiered at last year's Toronto Film Festival as well, but there wasn't much buzz then. It looks quite good. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Stephen Fingleton's Nightride, direct from YouTube...

"50 years I've been waiting for this night... just to see him again." Netflix has fired up the gnarly official trailer for their new Texas Chain Saw Massacre film. It's officially titled Texas Chainsaw Massacre and will be streaming on Netflix starting this February. After nearly 50 years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends that accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town. Much like last year's Ghostbusters, this skips everything else and it plays as a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper's original 1974 Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Leatherface only gets angry when people come home. This sequel stars Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Olwen Fouéré, Alice Krige, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope, Jolyon Coy. Damn this looks brutal! The bus scene is going to be insane. Lots of blood and gore in here - watch out.

Netflix has released the first trailer for the new “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” movie, which brings the iconic horror villain Leatherface squarely into the 2020s.
The film – which hits Netflix Feb. 18 — is a sequel to the original 1974 film and finds a survivor from those original murders seeking vengeance, alongside a group of youngsters who have the misfortune of happening upon Leatherface’s house.
The story is in the vein of other legacy sequels like “Terminator: Dark Fate” and the new “Halloween” that find original characters returning decades later in films that essentially ignore other sequels in the franchise. In the case of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” that includes seven other sequels, reboots and origin prequels over the last four decades.
“Texas Chainsaw Massacre” has had a bit of a rocky road to release. The film was produced by Legendary Pictures, but original directors Ryan and Andy Tohill left the project over creative...

Featuristic Films has unveiled an exclusive first look at the feature documentary “Afghanistan.” It follows filmmaker James Glancy, a former British Royal Marine Commando who was decorated in 2012 for his actions in combat, as he returns to Afghanistan with a small, handpicked team to help him answer the question that has haunted him over the past decade: Was it worth it?

Pulsar Content has secured worldwide sales on “Nightride” a Belfast-set thriller from BAFTA-nominated helmer Stephen Fingleton (“The Survivalist”), starring Moe Dunford and Joana Ribeiro (“The Man Who Killed Don Quixote”).
Shot in one take over an action-packed night, “Nightride” is laced with dry humor and follows a smalltime dealer, Budge, as he tries to pull one last deal with cash borrowed from a dangerous loan shark. When the handover goes terribly wrong, Budge finds himself in a race against the clock to get a hold of his missing product and find a new buyer before the loan shark tracks him down.
Now in post, the high-concept film is produced by Silk Mass, Village Films and Logical Pictures, and written by Irish scribe Ben Conway (“Hunter’s Fall”). It marks Fingleton’s sophomore feature, following his critically acclaimed debut “The Survivalist,” a post-apocalyptic thriller which was nominated for a BAFTA and won prizes at Tribeca,...

When Moe Dunford started his professional acting career in 2010, he probably had no idea he’d eventually become an international star. That’s exactly what happened, though. The Irish actor is now known all over the world for his role in shows like Vikings. Now, he’s also on the brink of a major film opportunity with the upcoming movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which is set to be released in 2021. She’s one of the hardest-working and underrated character actors in the UK, and Kate Dickie can now be seen in the brutal, yet stylistic thriller Knuckledust – and we had the pleasure of speaking to her via Zoom to celebrate the film’s VOD release. We discussed her character, the elusive nature of the film, and what it was like to work alongside leading star Moe Dunford. Talking of collaborations, we also look back over her time making The Witch and how it was to work with Anya Taylor-Joy in one of the actresses’s first major roles – and finally we look ahead, as the Scottish performer is working alongside Robert Eggers yet again, in his eagerly anticipated The Northman. Be sure to watch our interview with Kate Dickie in its entirety below:

Club Knuckledust punters pay to watch homeless army veterans kill each other in this lurid tale of a fighter who goes rogue
At Club Knuckledust, clients have access to a range of dodgy entertainment, ranging from basic sex-club fetish fun to watching homeless ex-soldiers suffering from Ptsd kill each other in a cage arena. Manager Serena (Camille Rowe) slinks about in polyester lamé frocks arranging the brutality and profiting from the betting, her evilness presumably meant to be signalled by her American accent. But it all goes wrong one night when a veteran conscript, given the fighting name of Hard Eight (Moe Dunford), goes rogue and refuses to let himself get killed in the third round.
A variety of eccentric characters are introduced as the action toggles back and forth between flashbacks, showing what happened immediately next in the terrordome, and a subsequent police investigation and interrogation of Hard Eight.
