The popular, warm-hearted Apple TV+ comedy drama Ted Lasso is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray in the UK in July.
There are few success stories as unlikely as Ted Lasso. Originating as a character Jason Sudeikis played to promote NBC Sports’ coverage of the Premier League in 2013, it was another four years before Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence came aboard to develop the series for Apple TV+. Sudeikis’ long-time friend and colleague Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly were also among the creative team.
The show is ostensibly about AFC Richmond, a fictitious London football club, but the heart of the show lies in the relationships between its characters.
Ted’s relentless optimism does not mesh well with the more cynical worldview of the team, but he eventually wins over steely club owner Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), as he attempts to whip the team into shape with the cool and collected Coach Beard...

Awards season is officially in full swing, and this week, it’s time for the Screen Actors Guild awards. And, as always, the actors are going all out for the show.
Recognizing projects and stars from both television and film, the 2024 SAG Awards will see a wide range of stars hit the red carpet, from Margot Robbie and the “Barbie” crew — the film picked up four nominations on the night, tying for the most with “Oppenheimer” — to cast members from “Succession,” “The Bear,” “The Last of Us” and more.
Saturday night marks the 30th awards ceremony held by the guild, a momentous occasion particularly following last year’s strike, but also marked a first for the show, as it streams on Netflix instead of on broadcast television.

The 2023 Emmy Awards finally took place on Monday night, with series like The Bear, Beef and Succession winning big.
The ceremony, hosted by Anthony Anderson and held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, was postponed for months due to the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes. Thus, to be considered for an award, a television show, limited series or made-for-tv film must have been released between June 1, 2022, and May 31, 2023.
The National Active Members of the Television Academy voted on the awards from August 18 to August 28, 2023.
Succession walked away with seven wins for its final season, including Best Drama and recognition for actors Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook and Matthew Macfadyen. The show also received awards for Best Directing for a Drama Series for Mark Mylod and Best Writing for a Drama Series for Jesse Armstrong.

‘Succession’ wins for Outstanding Drama Series at the 75Th Emmy Awards (Photo © 2024 Fox Media LLC)
In a normal year, the 2023 Emmy Awards would have actually taken place in 2023. But last year was anything but normal in Hollywood, and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes caused the award ceremony’s postponement to January 15, 2024.
Fans of Succession, The Bear, and Beef had a lot to celebrate as Emmy voters threw most of the awards in their direction. Succession and The Bear tied with six wins each, and Beef wasn’t far behind with five.
Highlights included Christina Applegate’s surprise appearance on stage to a standing ovation, Carol Burnett presenting to Quinta Brunson (the first Black actress to win as Lead Actress in a Comedy since 1981), and Niecy Nash-Betts’ powerful acceptance speech for Dahmer. There were also cast reunions and Sir Elton John finally received the E portion of Egot for his Farewell From Dodger Stadium special.

Way back in (checks notes) July last year, we reported on the Emmy nominations, noting that the strikes could delay it. Welp, delay it they did, and the 2023 ceremony has just happened in Los Angeles on Monday night. The ceremony, hosted by actor and comedian Anthony Anderson, had little reference to the strikes, but did dig back into TV history given that it was the 75th ceremony. Recent history, though, was more on voters' minds as Beef, Succession and The Bear continued their small screen awards domination.
Succession and The Bear nabbed six trophies each across acting, directing and writing categories, while Beef took home five. Other winners included Jennifer Coolidge (for The White Lotus) and Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story's Niecy Nash-Betts.

The Emmys finally happened.
After a four-month delay due to the WGA and SAG strikes, the 2023 Primetime Emmys took place January 15 in Los Angeles. The big takeaway? There may just be way too much TV for Emmy voters to watch, so much like the noms suggested back in July 2023, winners during the ceremony were mainly confined to a few big hits.
Those hits were well-deserved, however: “Succession” closed out its final Emmys with six wins, including the big one for Outstanding Drama Series. “The Bear” made a huge impression out of the gate, notching an Outstanding Comedy Series win for its first season, as well as individual wins for Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebiri.
“Beef” likewise cleaned up. The buzzy Netflix project scored wins for Outstanding Limited Series as well as individual wins for Ali Wong, Steven Yeun, and creator Lee Sung Jin (also an IndieWire Honors recipient!

Three shows dominated the 2023 Emmy Awards on Monday night: “Succession,” “The Bear” and “Beef.” Each show nearly swept its respective category in the drama, comedy and limited series races. “Succession” and “The Bear” tied with a leading six wins each, and “Beef” followed closely with five trophies.
Hosted by Anthony Anderson, the 75th Emmy Awards on Fox provided multiple tributes to hit shows of the past, as well as the present. The casts of series like “Cheers,” “The Sopranos,” “Ally McBeal,” “Martin” and more reunited for the night, while former cast members of show’s like “Grey’s Anatomy” and the ever-Emmy-ignored comedy “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” took the stage to present awards.
The audience in attendance also gave plenty of love to presenter and nominee Christina Applegate, who previously stated she is all but done with on-camera work due to multiple sclerosis. The crowd also got to its feet...

The 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards were finally handed out … on January 15, 2024. Originally scheduled for last September, the awards were pushed back several months as a result of WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes against studios and streamers for better pay and protections against AI. The writers’ labor dispute was resolved on September 27, followed by the actors on November 9. So who won at these long overdue kudos? Scroll down for our live updating report explaining who won, who surprised, and what it all meant.

Because of the delay, there may be some confusion as to what these Emmys were actually honoring. For instance, even though “The Bear” season two aired six months ago, these awards actually cover “The Bear” season one, which aired in the summer of 2022. And while Elizabeth Debicki just picked up Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards for “The Crown” season six,...

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards aired January 15 on Fox with actor Anthony Anderson serving as host for the first time. After months of strike-induced delays, the creatives behind the most revered shows of the 2022-2023 season finally learned the results of their TV academy bids as trophies were delved out in 26 categories covering comedy, drama, limited, variety, and competition series.
As usual, this year’s primetime ceremony occurred one week after the corresponding Creative Arts Emmys – a two-night event primarily focused on artistic and technical accomplishments. Freshman HBO drama “The Last of Us” came out on top there, with eight wins from 19 nominations. The comedies that scored the most victories (four each) were newcomers “The Bear” (FX) and “Wednesday” (Netflix), while the Netflix limited series “Beef” finished with three wins. Heading into Monday’s main event, “Beef” also stood as the limited format nominations leader with nine major bids, but...

Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards pretty much stuck to the same script as last week’s Golden Globes, with Netflix’s Beef, Hulu’s The Bear and HBO’s Succession emerging as the big TV winners.
Both Beef and The Bear won four trophies apiece, including Best Limited Series and Best Comedy Series, respectively. Succession, meanwhile, snagged three awards, including Best Drama Series.
