Wildly imaginative, but with an odd pacing
25 November 2018
When I first watched Mune with my children, the visuals were immediately intriguing. It called to mind the likes of Kubo and the Two Strings. The premise is fascinating; this world and its inhabitants declare a guardian got both the sun and the moon that ride upon their prospective temples, bringing balance to the world.

The pace shifts gears from wondrous, to slightly frightening, to moments of humor, but all without a natural flow. This doesn't hurt the movie as a whole, but can mean you're watching a part, turn your head for a moment, them something else is happening that may feel unrelated to what you just saw.

Do watch this for the visual styles alone, it's a frequent watch in our home.
