As a TV drama mini series, it wasn't that bad
5 February 2024
The show primarily focuses on Rene, Ben and Cam about how they try to live in one of the biggest cities in the world. There is a lot of scenes filmed in those streets that we walk through every single day for a cup of coffee, for shopping, for work, for college or whatever. The graffiti, the buskers, the food trucks, everything was just down to earth to me. It suited the theme of the tv series about how people we came across everyday tried to make a living. Some people worked very hard, like Ben and Cam; they had multiple jobs and they tried to find the best business partners. Some people, like Rene, engaged in indecent or even criminal manners to get money (i.e. Defrauding the insurance company, buying a fake pair of earrings in exchange for the real one that Debbie had). Each character we saw in the tv series was so different. For example, Cam wanted to be rich but he sticked to his moral codes and dignity. Rene was a cunning and aggressive former inmate who would do anything to get money. But he wouldn't want to tangle up with the police again and he really loved his family. The show was canceled after two seasons due to the failure to obtain an ideal viewership. I personally didn't feel the show was special because the plot didn't catch me by surprise. I mean the show lacked shocking and unexpected moments that all people would have in their lives. Our characters lives were just so bland. I wanted to see their hard working and rough lives, unexpected moments, paid off moments and etc., not just their normal daily lives of working, dating and whatsoever.
