Opening with a text crawl telling the viewer about the controversial video game franchise Hazard Waster and its anti-hero Waxx Waster, 16 Bits quickly introduces us to Phillip. Said introduction involves a pizza delivery guy named Kevin, a set of nipple clamps and images of him masturbating while screaming “I hate you!” at a picture of his ex, Alice, which should give you an idea what to expect from the rest of the film.
It’s his birthday and he’s got a cake, a pizza with some mushrooms to put on it, and his copy of Hazard Waster. He just doesn’t have anyone to share them with because Doug, Flynn, Bobby and everyone else has blown him off. He...

Singer-songwriter Peter One left his home in Côte D’Ivoire in 1995 amid rising political unrest in the West African country that eventually boiled over into two civil wars in the 2000s. His life in the United States began in New York and then Delaware, before landing in Nashville, where he now lives. Along the way, he found community with fellow displaced Ivorians, including a friend who inspired a song from Peter One’s first new release in more than 30 years.

All Hollywood stars have to start somewhere, and there are plenty of A-listers with low-budget B-movies in their early histories. A teenage Leonardo DiCaprio made an appearance in Critters 3; Kevin Bacon was a memorable victim in the original Friday The 13th. Then there's Parasite: a bargain-basement sci-fi horror that cheerfully slams together two popular 70s staples: Cronenbergian body horror and George Miller-style post-apocalypse. Oh, and Demi Moore makes her feature film debut as Patricia, who grows lemons.

Chicago – One of the best points that Layne Marie Williams – co-founder/director of “The Women’s Film Festival” (Twff) of Philadelphia – made in her interview with HollywoodChicago.com, was that even though the festival was developed to showcase the works of women filmmakers, it plays to an audience of everybody. This is how badass creators come together, and this is the second year of The Women’s Film Festival, unspooling on Friday, March 11th, and running through Sunday, March 13th, 2016.
Layne Marie Williams was just out of University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – and was working as a professional stage actress – when she decided to co-found a women’s film festival. Twff launched last year, and Williams continues to help facilitate it, even though she moved to Chicago nine months ago.

Martha Stewart: Actress / Singer in Fox movies apparently not dead despite two-year-old reports to the contrary (Photo: Martha Stewart and Perry Como in 'Doll Face') According to various online reports, including Variety's, actress and singer Martha Stewart, a pretty blonde featured in supporting roles in a handful of 20th Century Fox movies of the '40s, died at age 89 of "natural causes" in Northeast Harbor, Maine, on February 25, 2012. Needless to say, that was not the same Martha Stewart hawking "delicious foods" and whatever else on American television. But quite possibly, the Martha Stewart who died in February 2012 -- if any -- was not the Martha Stewart of old Fox movies either. And that's why I'm republishing this (former) obit, originally posted more than two and a half years ago: March 11, 2012. Earlier today, a commenter wrote to Alt Film Guide, claiming that the Martha Stewart featured in Doll Face, I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now,...

Janet Jackson has been a star all her life, born into an iconic showbiz family. We first saw her spark on Good Times, and she followed that up with Different Strokes and Fame, but music was her destiny, and after a couple of ignored teen albums, she finally broke through in a enormous way with 1986′s Control, which completely redefined her career, and started her on the road to superstardom.
Today is her 48th birthday, so let’s pick her greatest single. It’s a tough job, with 25 top ten hits (including 10 #1′s), but what is the cream of the crop? Here are my top five:
5. Runaway
Year: 1995
Album: Design Of A Decade
Chart Peak: #3
Exuberant first single from her first Greatest Hits album, it provided a great capper to ten years of growth as an artist.
4. When I Think Of You

Today's MPAA ratings bulletin includes a lot of movies, but not a lot of major movies as there are really only three worth mentioning. First is Disney's horribly titled Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, based on the award-winning children's book by Judith Viorst and receiving a PG rating and then comes God's Pocket featuring one of Philip Seymour Hoffman's final performances. Then comes the one most are probably interested in, that being the PG-13 rating for X-Men: Days Of Future Past for all of its sequences of intense sci-fi violence and action, some suggestive material, nudity and language. Oh, nudity. Exciting. I think in this one Beast (Nicholas Hoult) paints a nude photo of Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) before the boat sinks. I don't know about you guys, but for my money, this was the first episode of Coven that had actual perturbing moments. It also had moments like Spalding dressed in his dolly costume frantically spraying air freshener to cover up the smell of Madison's corpse, so really it was the perfect blend.
One such stand-out moment was Madame Lalaurie's meeting with her zombie daughter Borquita. The episode begins by flashing back to All Hallow's Eve 1833, when Lalaurie chases off Borquita's suitor by being the grossest person ever. "I fairly swoon...

Hey gang, we’re back! This is my favorite episode of Pretty Little Liars yet (of the two I’ve seen) and I think it’s all because this episode features a parrot and a dojo. Those two things speak to me. Anyway, let’s get down to it.
The girls are noshing at a coffee house named after a Hitchcock film.Where I grew up in Delaware we just had a place called the Brew-ha-ha. Alas for me…
Hannah (or Hanna? Who is she supposed to be? Saoirse Ronan?) is worried about her mom. The girls are arguing over who the lady in the long black veil was. Also, they are still arguing over whether or not Allison is dead or not. You would think a good autopsy would straighten that all out.
Creepy Mona shows up and whines about not being cool enough to join their girl gang.

Guys and Dolls remake supposedly to star Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (photo: Channing Tatum in Magic Mike) Guys and Dolls will be brought back to the big screen by way of 20th Century Fox, according to Deadline.com. Back in 1955, Joseph L. Mankiewicz directed for independent producer Samuel Goldwyn a highly successful movie version of the Broadway musical based on a Damon Runyon short story. Distributed by MGM, that particular Guys and Dolls starred Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra, and Vivian Blaine. This time around, Fox supposedly wants Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose singing prowess was amply displayed in, respectively, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and The Dark Knight Rises. And Tatum and Gordon-Levitt can dance, too, as proven at the 2013 Oscar show (and, in Tatum’s case, Magic Mike). But hey, Goldwyn didn’t care that neither Marlon Brando nor Jean Simmons could sing (or dance), either. And Brando...

The singer stole the spotlight in a vibrant frock when she walked the red carpet — and Carly was one of the biggest winners of the night!
Carly Rae Jepsen was radiant on the red carpet at the 2013 Juno Awards, where the 27-year-old star showed up in a yellow sleeveless frock when she arrived at the Brandt Center on April 21 in Regina, Canada.
Carly Rae Jepsen Juno Awards Dress:
Carly’s dress clung to her curves, allowing the star to flaunt her svelte frame. The high-low hemline allowed Carly to show a little leg while the silhouette of the dress still gave off a dressy vibe. Embellishments around the neckline kept the look young and fun, while the color really screamed spring. I like the way she wore her hair braided to one side — it kept the focus on the embellishments on the dress! A pair of beige peep-toe pumps finished off her red carpet look.

This is a historic week in the life of "American Idol." For the first time ever, the Top 5 is made up of all girls! After the Top 5 performances, we caught up with Kree Harrison, Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Angie Miller and Amber Holcomb to find out how they felt about their all-female competition.
Of all of the girls, Amber seemed to be having the most trouble adjusting to the loss of the boys. Although technically she was mostly missing Burnell Taylor and Lazaro Arbos. "Laz, he is my boo. I love him to death," Amber said. "He was always there for me. We would sing each other's songs in our rooms until 1 in the morning.
It's not like Amber can't get along with the girls though. "We all eat together and stuff but I feel half my heart is missing," she explained. "We really don't have any drama. You'd think...

Previously on Glee, Blaine Warbler found himself in possession of some confusing feelings about his crime-fighting sidekick, a conundrum experienced by many a man in cape and cowl over the spandexed years. Tina, too, got her Kinsey Scale all mixed up, and made a play for a gay. Kurt's first day at Nyada prompted him to hop into a time machine — Destination: McKinley High, May 19, 2009 — and pull his self out of the dumpster and twirl his self around and give his self a hug and a dozen high fives and an It Gets Better pep talk of epic proportions. Rachel sang real pretty and did whatever codependency thing. Barbra Streisand's new rarities album Release Me (cute title, dear!) features eleven lovely tracks from all your favorite eras of Streisand supremacy. I'm particularly fond of "I Think It's Going to Rain Today," her Randy Newman cover from 1970 that's hypnotically melancholic. There've been tons of versions of that tune, and I think we're finally hearing the definitive take. And speaking of new takes: Let's commemorate Barbra's newest triumph with a short retrospective of great artists who've covered her. Not many are brave enough to try but these eight dames deliver a knockout just like crusty old Ryan O'Neal in The Main Event.

Anyone who has seen the trailer for Searching For Sugar Man knows that the title character has indeed been found (but there’s much more to his unbelievable life story than that). If you’d prefer to keep Sugar Man a mystery until after you see the film, please bookmark this interview to refer back to after you’ve had your own discovery of this man’s unbelievable story.
In our age of instant music sharing, it seems like any artist can get recognition with a hip enough music video or high amount of followers on Twitter. Searching for Sugar Man, directed by Malik Bendjelloul, is a documentary about Sixto Rodriguez, a great talent from the early 70s (think poppier Bob Dylan) who slipped through the cracks of notoriety (at least in America). It is the story of a man’s disappearance, as well as it is his unbelievable return.

While there was the expected pairing of Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne — will those two just hold hands on the beach already? — you'll never believe which member got no love from the rest of the guys! Here's how it all went down... Harry Styles: If I was a girl, I would date ... probably Liam, 'cause I think he's... Louis: He's a solid choice. I think I ... Hmm ... Come back to me. Niall Horan: I'd date Louis. Louis: I think I might date Niall. ... I was gonna say you, Niall! Niall: I'd like to go to a theme park...

A very Happy Sunday to everyone! This week we bring you an Edward & Bella themed video from XAXAwitch1′s channel and is titled Come Back to Me Please Baby || Breaking Dawn and features Pina by Thom Hanreich.
This video is short but has a punch! It starts with reminding us of how Bella and Edward fell for each other in Twilight, before jumping to their wedding in Breaking Dawn, skipping all the drama and angst of their relationship in New Moon and Eclipse. It then focuses briefly on the friendship between Jacob and Bella that really blossomed in New Moon and Eclipse, just enough to show that there is a tie between Jacob and Bella that can’t be broken before panning back to the story again, that of Bella and Edward’s undeniable love. I love the little glimpse of the grown up Renesmee, who is carefree and happy. It just reiterates why Bella went through with the pregnancy, despite the danger to her own very mortal life. She did it for love but also unknowingly, she did it for the benefit of those around her, even Edward and Jacob since Renesmee is that light and happiness, a sense of normalcy in a world of predators and myths.
What do you think of the video?...

One of the best albums to be released in 2010 was Anathema’s We’re Here Because We’re Here. Fact. What’s that? No, it wasn’t? You’ve obviously never listened to it then. Here we go.
The album was on a many album of the year list and it was no surprise, really. The textured layers of musical arrangements; delicately glorious and invoking vocals which twisted, turned, touched and soared; the impending doom-esque, apocalyptic yet undeniably beautiful connotations of each track’s layout and content; and the complete musicianship of the album, which left it feeling as a gigantic, empowering, towering body of work resulted in the album hitting hard with anybody who took a listen; be it fellow musicians, critics, or even just music fans who took the time to...

Along with Pandemonium, I spent the most gaming time with the PS1 in the company of Twisted Metal, a beautifully addictive ballet of autovehicular carnage that was one of the single most fun experiences I have ever had with a controller in my hands. So perhaps I was a little biased heading into this review, but that doesn’t mean that the latest game from David Jaffe’s Eat Sleep Play isn’t wonderful on its own terms. It is ludicrously bonkers, recklessly fun and poetically violent: re-announcing the car violence sub-genre as a viable concern for gamers. Like it should ever have been taken away!
No matter how lowly a form of art you might consider Twisted Metal, with its blend of bonkers characters and hyper-action, it shouldn’t be cast aside as simply a colourful curio, or an immature guilty pleasure. Because Twisted Metal...

We meet up with the gang being shanghaied after attempting to stop Drake and company and Malory and the girls still on Intrepid. So, how will the crew possibly escape?
Not to sound like a prude, but I have to feel like Lana stripping down to her space pasties was a little unnecessary. Haven't we seen enough of her half naked at this point to satisfy the biggest of Hentai fans? Yeah, I'm looking at you Krieger-Son.
Either way, I recognize they had to do something to get Lana and the gang out of the space brig.

Here's eleven of my favorite new rock tunes for your early spring listening pleasure. Enjoy the melodic sunshine, people.
"Eskimo Kiss" The Kooks Junk of the Heart (Astralwerks)
Not sure why my fellow critics insist on dropping the "sounds like The Strokes" tag on these Brits. And some scribes have whined they aren't "edgy" enough. So what. I hear more of The Kinks and The La's as reference points. And to me, that's much better company if you love more pop in your rock. Case in point, the infectious ear candy of "Eskimo Kiss," my pick hit from their latest long player (LP). Currently on tour in the U.S. of A.
"Stay At Home" Yellow Ostrich Strange Land (Barsuk)

Vehicular combat is a bit of a lost art in modern day gaming. This console generation has only really seen one major franchise, Full Auto, make a serious attempt to stake a claim to the throne, but that didn’t end well for anyone. However, with the franchise that set the gold standard for car battles, the Sony exclusive Twisted Metal, making a long-awaited return, things are hopefully about to change.
Calypso and his twisted tournament are back, granting wishes to whomever can complete all of his challenges, and kill the most people in the process. The story mode offers a look at three characters, Sweet Tooth, Mr. Grimm, and Doll Face, as they (and their factions of followers) vie to have their deepest, darkest dream come true. Longtime Twisted Metal fans will instantly notice this release is a bit of a departure from the other titles in the series,...

Amid an era where much of Hollywood's output is reboots, sequels or adaptations, production company Benderspink has nabbed the rights to Black Bull Media's comic book The New West.
It tells the story of disgraced Lapd detective Daniel Wise, who navigates a near-future Los Angeles void of technology due to an electromagnetic pulse bomb, trying to rescue a kidnapped mayor while armed with only a horse and a sword.
Created by comic-writing veteran Jimmy Palmiotti (Jonah Hex) and artist Phil Noto (Danger Girl), the two-issue miniseries will be adapted by Chris Bender, Jc Spink and Jake Weiner - who are no strangers to the game following their work on A History of Violence.
A project potentially falling into all three categories above would be the return of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. A reboot of a comic adaptation that's sure to hatch sequels, this latest version (produced by Platinum Dunes,...

A report over at Deadline claims Sony has struck a deal with Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance co-director Brian Taylor to write and direct a feature film based on the recently revived Twisted Metal franchise. The newest version of the game was just released yesterday and Ghost Rider's Avi and Ari Arad will be producing the film.
Just like the game, the Twisted Metal film will revolve around an underground fight to the death in pimped out, weaponized vehicles. While specific details on the plot haven't been revealed yet, Deadline reports that fan-favorite characters like Sweet Tooth (the insane, ice cream truck driving clown) and Doll Face will be appearing in the film.
This will be Taylor's first time going solo on a film, but he previously worked on the two Crank films starring Jason Statham and there's talk of a third. Considering just how over-the-top those two films were (seriously,...

‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’ Director in Negotiations to Write-Helm ‘Twisted Metal’ Adaptation
In the world of Hollywood, sometimes all it takes is to do one thing very well to give others confidence that you can do the same on a much bigger scale. Take a look at how Marc Webb handled relationships in (500) Days of Summer. Someone felt he could bring that to Amazing Spider-Man. Most recently, director Josh Trank did such a good job on Chronicle that someone has begun a rumor that he can take that vision all the way to a Fantastic Four reboot. Now, whether or not Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is going to save the that comic book franchise, remains to be seen this weekend, but at least on a visual level, the film’s co-director, Brian Taylor is being considered for a movie adaptation of the long-successful video game franchise Twisted Metal.

If the name Brian Taylor doesn’t ring a bell immediately, it’s because “Brian” is usually left off, and “Neveldine” is usually in its place. The writer/director has made two Crank movies, Gamer, Jonah Hex and the upcoming Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance with creative partner Mark Neveldine, but according to Deadline Fernlake, he’ll be flying solo for the first time soon. The project? A live-action movie version of the “Twisted Metal” videogame franchise that’s been around since 1995 and continues to thrive on the Playstation 3. As if they plan this stuff, Sony is announcing the project with Taylor at the helm on the same week that Ghost Rider hits theaters and the new “Twisted Metal” game hits store shelves. That’s boss-like synergy right there. What’s great about this is Taylor’s ability to rain down ridiculousness in action form. The flick will stay close to the video game (as if it...

"Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" co-director Brian Taylor has made a preemptive deal to write and direct a live action feature adaptation of the video game "Twisted Metal" for Sony Pictures says Deadline.
The story will revolve around an underground event that pits a number of combatants in a fight to the death in armored and heavily weaponized cars. The sole survivor will get any wish granted.
The race proprietor is Calypso, a string-puller dedicating to examining the human condition. The film will include such characters as Sweet Tooth, a homicidal clown who drives an ice cream truck, and Doll Face, a young woman who is trapped behind a porcelain mask and who drives an 18-wheeler.
Avi and Ari Arad are producing the film which will mark Taylor's first solo effort. The latest version of the game was released this week for PlayStation 3.

We knew it could happen one day, but we didn’t know exactly when. But the psychotic, symbiotic organism that is Neveldine Taylor (aka Crank duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor) has torn itself apart and released Taylor dripping vital fluids to strike out on his own for a film. He’s just locked in a deal with Sony to write and direct a movie based on video game Twisted Metal. The game, which not so coincidentally also happens to be a Sony property, is one of the best-selling titles. It features a Death Race-style underground tournament where warriors in pimped out cars compete and fight to the death. It’s all run by a guy named Calypso, who has a driving (pun intended) obsession with the human condition and wants to explore such ideas as what makes peaceful men turn violent and who is willing to do what...

While I would never, ever consider Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor among the better directing duos we’ve got working today, it’s impossible to doubt that they’re intrinsic to one another. They both love the “punk rock” style of filmmaking, share similar narrative tastes, and hold a mutual disregard for anything that could be considered decent. A battery-acid flavored peanut butter and jelly, if you will.
My general distaste toward their work notwithstanding, I’ll tip my hat to Taylor for taking a big lead. As Deadline reports, the Crank and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance co-helmer will make his solo feature debut with Sony Pictures, having signed a 7-figure deal for a Twisted Metal movie. Yes, the PlayStation game where you drive around in a weapon-equipped car until all your enemies are obliterated to bits. Someone sees a movie in this.

Remember that awesomely chaotic video game Twisted Metal? Well, Sony Pictures is planning to adapt it into a feature film, and they've hired Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance screenwriter Brian Taylor to script it. This will be the first film that Taylor will work on without his movie partner Mark Neveldine. Washington, Nov 21: Rachel Weisz has refused to divulge any details about her personal life with new hubby Daniel Craig, saying that she is still a 'blushing bride'.
She said that the subject is too 'private' for her to be discussed.
"I'm sorry," Us Magazine quoted her as telling The Telegraph.
"I'm a newlywed. I'm still a blushing bride and it's really private. I can't tell you anything. Come back to me later."
Just one year ago, Weisz, 41, had parted ways with her partner of nine years, Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky.
Shortly after, she began dating Craig, 43, who had also broken up with his longterm fiance Satsuki Mitchell.
Weisz and Craig fell in love while shooting for the psychological.

Pepé Le Pew (r.) catches the scent of love in the Pepé Le Pew Collection.
Looney Tunes’ legendary and lovable but overly aromatic French Skunk Pepé Le Pew stars in Looney Tunes Super Stars: Pepé Le Pew Collection, his very own classic short film cartoon compilationÂ
The suave, smooth-talking Pepé is always eager to do the right thing by the ladies, though his powerful scent and penchant for over-the-top romancing usually results in some zany situations (and what would surely be a string of sexual harassment suits in today’s world).
Created by animation legend Chuck Jones, Pepé Le Pew was introduced to audiences in 1945 and went on to star in a bunch of memorable Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts. In several cartoons, he has his eye on Penelope, an adorable black feline, whom he sometimes mistakes for a female skunk.

Just last year, during E3 2010, David Jaffe took to the stage during Sony's press conference to announce that his team at Eat Sleep Play were working on another "Twisted Metal." Since the new game's title didn't have an obligatory sequel number or any other distinctive sub-name, I was kind of under the impression at the time that this new iteration was actually a reboot. Well, after finally getting a more in-depth look at the game during E3 this year, it doesn't appear that "Twisted Metal" is exactly a reboot, but it certainly is bringing some cool new features to the table.
