Another legal drama is coming to our screens this summer, and this time, Jake Gyllenhaal is taking the lead.
While there's no shortage of legal and crime dramas, we certainly aren't going to complain about another series joining the roster.
As far as Apple TV+'s Presumed Innocent goes, we're excited to see what this drama will bring us this summer.
Presumed Innocent Plot
Presumed Innocent follows Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal) as his life is turned upside down.
A promising Chicago prosecutor, he quickly finds himself on the other side of the legal system when he becomes the prime suspect in a case revolving around the murder of someone in his office.
The show follows Rusty Sabich as he does anything and everything he can to declare his innocence while keeping his family and friends safe from harm.

Facing relentless foes and sudden bankruptcy, an Atlanta real estate tycoon must claw his way back to the top when his empire begins to crumble. That’s the premise of the new Netflix series, “A Man In Full,” starring Jeff Daniels. Based on the New York Times bestselling novel by the late author Tom Wolfe, the series comes from David E. Kelly, the TV super producer behind classic TV shows like “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” “Picket Fences,” “Chicago Hope,” “The Practice,” “Ally McBeal.” Kelly also soared higher and proved his TV might during the era of streaming PeakTV, creating “Big Little Lies,” “The Undoing” with Nicole Kidman, “Nine Perfect Strangers” and dozens more.

In a very unsettled drama Emmy field, one of the few ostensible locks this year is Elizabeth Debicki. With 4/1 odds, she is the runaway favorite to take home the Best Drama Supporting Actress Emmy for her turn as Princess Diana on “The Crown,” which would make the Netflix series the sixth show to deliver two different winners in the category.
Twelve shows have won drama supporting actress more than once. Of those, seven shows have had one person triumph repeatedly, including “Lou Grant” for Nancy Marchand, who won a record four times, and most recently “Ozark” for three-time champ Julia Garner. The five shows that saw the wealth spread among its cast members are “St. Elsewhere”, “The West Wing”, “Hill Street Blues”, “The Practice” and “thirtysomething”. No show has had more than two cast members win the award.
Interestingly, Marchand (1980-82; her first win was in ’78), Roberts (1983), Woodard (1984), Thomas (1985), Bartlett...

This article contains casting spoilers for all eight episodes of Fallout.
The Fallout gaming franchise presents a big storytelling universe to play in. And that’s exactly what drew showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner to the Prime Video TV adaptation in the first place.
“It’s more creatively interesting to be able to build our own story in the world that they’ve carved out for us,” Wagner told Den of Geek. “That’s historically been the trajectory of Fallout. It’s traded hands many times, with different creative teams taking it over. It’s kept it fresh, kept it relevant. We chose to just vainly look at this as our Fallout.”
Of course, a big storytelling universe also requires a big cast to fill it up. Prime Video’s Fallout isn’t wanting for compelling lead characters thanks to Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul...

Cybil Reynolds may have experienced an epic downfall in “The Morning Show’s” third season, but the woman who plays her can’t stop rising in our Emmy odds. After hovering right outside the Top 8 in February and for the majority of March, Holland Taylor recently vaulted into eighth place in our Best Drama Supporting Actress rankings. And if you haven’t added her to your own predictions yet, you might want to change that Asap.
Though “The Morning Show” is still in search of its first drama series nomination at the Emmys, it’s already proven to be a juggernaut in the acting categories. Across its first two seasons, the Apple TV Plus drama has scooped up a total of eight acting bids — five for Season 1 and three for Season 2 — and a win for Crudup in Best Drama Supporting Actor (2020).

After Lucille Ball's spunky housewife Lucy signed off on the last episode of "I Love Lucy" but before Mary Tyler Moore did away with the nuclear family sitcom model with her own self-titled show, another actress was one of the faces of womanhood in comedy. Oscar-winning actress Donna Reed headlined "The Donna Reed Show" from 1958 to 1966, playing middle-class mother and housewife Donna Stone in the popular black-and-white series. Reed starred opposite Carl Betz, who played Donna's husband, pediatrician Dr. Alex Stone. In season 5, family friends Midge and Dave joined the fun, but for the most part, the show was all about the lighthearted hijinks of the Stone family.
Though "The Donna Reed Show" was popular upon release, it's now perhaps most often referenced as a pop cultural window into a time before second-wave feminism, when women were expected to spend their time cooking, cleaning, and child-rearing while men went to work.

When writing about a legend who’s still working as a nonagenarian, it’s almost obligatory to include a line about how they are seemingly busier than ever. William Shatner, 92, may no longer be on set 12 hours a day for the roles that made him the first Comic-Con celebrity (Star Trek), or that transformed him into a late-career regular at the Emmys podium (The Practice, Boston Legal), but it’s difficult not to marvel at the pace at which he lives his life.

Best Drama Supporting Actress is the only Emmy acting category “The Morning Show” has yet to crack, but it’s now the one the series could dominate like only one other show has managed to. Nicole Beharie, Greta Lee, Julianna Margulies, Karen Pittman and Holland Taylor are all eligible for the Apple TV+ drama in the category this year, and if they all make the cut, “The Morning Show” will join “The White Lotus: Sicily” as the only shows to nab five drama supporting actress nominations in a single year.
“The White Lotus: Sicily” set the record last year with bids for Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, Aubrey Plaza, Simona Tabasco and eventual champ Jennifer Coolidge. Before that, the record for a series in the category was four nominees in one year, which only two shows had been able to field: “Game of Thrones” in 2019 and “The Handmaid’s Tale” in 2021.

The original "Night Court" ran for 193 episodes over nine seasons. It was part of a magical Thursday-night lineup of sitcoms -- along with "Family Ties," "The Cosby Show," and "Cheers" -- that dominated the popular consciousness throughout the 1980s. "Night Court" was considered "the weird one" of that lineup, but it was no less popular, earning star John Larroquette four Emmys before he intentionally withdrew himself from consideration. Since its cancelation in 1992, "Night Court" has remained beloved by the people who initially saw it, and subsequent reruns have grown a few new fans along the way.
Sometime in 2019 or 2020, however, a revival of "Night Court" was floated to NBC, and they began developing the new series that debuted on their network in 2023. The "Night Court" revival saw the return of Larroquette as Dan Fielding, the once-lascivious-now-humbled prosecutor who served the night shifts at the Manhattan Criminal Court. "Night Court" was part of the legendary NBC Thursday night lineup back in the mid-1980s. It ran in a block with "The Cosby Show," "Cheers," and "Family Ties," a proud part of a sitcom renaissance that lasted through to the end of the decade. Of that lineup, "Night Court" was the black sheep, offering up broader characters, wackier scenarios, and a surrealist tone that kept it just a few steps removed from reality. The series was set in a Manhattan Criminal Court, but only during its night shift, when all the weird cases came in. Harry Anderson played Judge Harry Stone, although the late hours had made him playfully unbalanced. Also often on the night shift was prosecutor Dan Fielding (John Larroquette), a lascivious narcissist and amusingly crude a-hole.
Larroquette was exceptional in the role. "Night Court" ran from 1984 to 1992, and Larroquette won Primetime Emmys four of those years,...

The NBC sitcom "Night Court" was a satirical take on the zany and chaotic underworld of the midnight shift at the courthouse. With an unconventional, free-loving judge at the helm of this circus, there's no telling what might happen. The series was such a massive hit that it ran for nine whole seasons, featuring a cast of relatively unknown actors that, when assembled, formed one of the most acclaimed ensembles of all time. The show won eight Primetime Emmys and was nominated no less than 32 times. "Night Court" won in a variety of categories, but the actor that ended up taking home the most gold was John Larroquette, who played egotistical D.A. Dan Fielding.
A "Night Court" reboot landed on NBC in 2023. Sadly, few members of the original cast are still around to reprise their old roles, and the show is comprised almost entirely of new characters. Harry Anderson,...

John Larroquette famously won Emmys for playing Dan Fielding on "Night Court" in 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1988. In 1989, he felt that he was hogging the spotlight and asked that his name be withdrawn from awards consideration. He's that good. In 1994, he was nominated for another Emmy for "The John Larroquette Show" and then won his fifth one for his work on "The Practice." In 2002, he was nominated for "The Practice" again. Larroquette has also long been beloved by the horror film community, as he provided the opening narration for Tobe Hooper's 1974 classic "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre." Loyal to the series, Laroquette likewise narrated the 2003 "Texas Chainsaw" remake, its 2006 sequel, and the 2022 "Chainsaw" reboot.
For Trekkies, Larroquette might be recognizable as the Klingon officer Maltz, one of Kruge's men in 1983's "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock." Maltz was the Klingon who accidentally beamed Admiral Kirk (William Shatner) onto his Bird of Prey,...

During the 2022 Creative Arts and Primetime Emmys ceremonies, two vastly different age records were broken as the acting victors accepted their prizes. First, 28-year-old Lee Yoo-mi (“Squid Game”) supplanted Samira Wiley as the youngest recipient of either drama guest award, and then Jean Smart (70) improved upon her own oldest comedy actress winner record by clinching a second consecutive trophy for “Hacks.” With one age record having already been smashed at last weekend’s Creative Arts Awards, five more are up for grabs heading into the big primetime show.
Firstly, congratulations are in order for newly crowned Best Drama Guest Actress champ Storm Reid (“The Last of Us”), who, at 20, went from being her category’s third youngest nominee to its youngest winner. In fact, she is the all-time youngest recipient of any guest acting Emmy, also taking that distinction from Lee, who in turn usurped Justin Timberlake. Two more “The Last of Us...

Dwight Little’s legacy falls into one of three categories: horror, action, and TV. From the horror couplet that is Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and the Robert Englund-starring Phantom of the Opera to the action trilogy of Rapid Fire, Marked for Death, and Murder at 1600, as well as his TV work (The X-Files among his most-known projects), Little has managed to reinvent himself numerous times over his 30+ years career.
It’s not an easy task to stay relevant in an ever-evolving landscape, especially in the age of streaming, but Little’s instincts have always guided his creative hand. January 1999. One quarter of a century ago. I attended the Golden Globe Awards for the first time (as an accredited member of the press) — and it was a night that I’ll never forget.
Interestingly enough, the most memorable moment of the night for me wasn’t having Best TV Supporting Actress co-winner Camryn Manheim (“The Practice”) quiz me on lines from 1997’s hit comedy “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion.”
Rather, it was when I was practically escorted out of the backstage press room for expressing my shock when Lauren Bacall announced Jim Carrey as the year’s Best Drama Actor for “The Truman Show,” beating out the likes of Tom Hanks in “Saving Private Ryan,” Ian McKellen in “Gods and Monsters” and Nick Nolte in “Affliction.” (My money had been on McKellen.)

Nick Offerman has been a bit of an Emmys bridesmaid so far, as the versatile actor has been nominated three times in his career but failed to turn any of them into cold, hard wins he can put on his shelf. This year, he earned his fourth nomination — and, surprisingly, his first one as an actor. He was nominated for Best Drama Guest Actor for HBO’s hugely successful video-game adaptation “The Last of Us.”
In the show, Offerman appears as Bill in episode three — “Long, Long Time.” Perhaps the most emotional episode of the entire series, Offerman is front and center of the drama and truly gets a chance to show off his acting chops. Murray Bartlett is having a very special moment. After winning his first Emmy last year, the actor has followed up that victory with not one but two nominations this year as he looks to continue his hot streak. One of those bids this year is for Best Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor for “Welcome to Chippendales,” while his second comes for HBO’s drama “The Last of Us,” which amassed a whopping 25 Emmy bids. Specifically, Bartlett was nominated for Best Drama Guest Actor for his emotional role as Frank in episode three of the show.
That episode, titled “Long, Long Time,” was touted as one of the very best in the entire series and was certainly the most heartbreaking. The episode flashes back to Frank leaving Baltimore as the epidemic spread. Soon after, he stumbles across a protected compound belonging to Nick Offerman‘s Bill, who, at first, is reluctant...

Kirk, Mr. Spock, and Uhura. For better or for worse, these names and faces are inextricably tied to the characters they played.

“Same old Bosch” might as well be the actual title of Bosch: Legacy, which is among the least spinoff-y of spinoffs ever made(*). It brings back the hero of Bosch as its main character.

“East New York” star Ezra Knight guest stars on Tuesday night’s “Found” as a doorman who seeks out Gabi’s (Shanola Hampton) help for a missing man he thinks the police wouldn’t bother to search for.
In this exclusive clip, which you can watch above, Cliff (Knight) shares a video of his missing friend Reggie with Gabi. When she asks why he hasn’t reported the disappearance to the authorities, he says he came to her “because I know you care for everyone.”
Says Cliff, “I’m just not confident that police would care about a missing gay widower in his 70s. And it’s only been two days and my only real evidence is the absence of our morning conversations.” He adds that the residents of his building mostly don’t acknowledge him but that, “Reggie sees me. Gene Roddenberry's celebrated sci-fi TV series "Star Trek" debuted on September 8, 1966, and recently celebrated its 57th anniversary. Initially, "Trek" wasn't terribly popular, and only managed to make a third season thanks to a coordinated letter-writing campaign (a campaign that Roddenberry was accused of orchestrating and encouraging himself). It wouldn't be until after "Star Trek" was canceled in 1969 that its popularity would significantly begin to grow. Thanks to a sweet infinite syndication deal, "Star Trek" reruns were common, and a cult began to form. By the early 1970s, the first "Trek" conventions began to appear. Naturally, conventions were a great place for the show's stars and creators to congregate and share production stories with a rising tide of obsessives. Fans were able to talk to and get autographs from William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, Nichelle Nichols, Majel Barrett, Walter Koenig, George Takei, James Doohan, and Grace Lee Whitney, as...

Updated: In another sign that shows — even famous ones — can no longer “live forever” on streaming in the new era of media companies re-prioritizing profits, a slew of titles will be leaving Disney-controlled Hulu in the coming days as their license deals expire. For now, there are no plans to renew any of the pacts but that is always a possibility in the future.
