Logan Lerman, best known for the Percy Jackson film series, began acting in commercials when he was young and made his film debut in 2000 with the movie The Patriot. After starring in several movies, he decided he needed a break in the early 2000s and would return to the industry when he was 12. In 2004, he was cast in one of the two titular roles in the TV series Jack & Bobby.
Logan Lerman in Hunters
By the time he was cast as the titular character in the 2009 movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, he had appeared in numerous projects and won three Young Artist Awards. The movies have been criticized for deviating from the source material for years. With the release of the new Disney+ series, fans were hoping to have those mistakes corrected. However, Lerman’s recent words have drawn a surprisingly new reaction from them.

When basketball fans gather to discuss the Greatest of All Time, the debates tend to be comparative. Russell vs. Wilt. Magic vs. Bird. The search for The Next Jordan or The Next Kobe or The Next LeBron.
The Current LeBron is still active in his own portion of the Goat conversation, presumably by virtue of his status as producer on Starz’s Survivor’s Remorse. But the newest TV series from James’ SpringHill company is more likely to evoke comparisons than any direct declarations of greatness. My notes on Disney+’s eight-episode The Crossover are scattered with references to other shows that the family basketball drama brought to mind.
It doesn’t quite achieve the lyrical poeticism of OWN’s David Makes Man or the earnest adolescent sincerity of Freevee’s High School or the proficiently executed basketball rush of Apple TV+’s Swagger or the enticing time-jumping mystery of The WB’s Jack & Bobby.

Exclusive: Showtime is keeping its Yellowjackets team intact.
The network has struck an overall deal with showrunner Jonathan Lisco. The move will see Lisco continue to serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner on the hit series, alongside creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, while also developing new projects.
The move comes after it also locked up married couple Lyle and Nickerson to a similar deal last year.
Yellowjackets is a breakout hit for the network and one of the few that is not based on existing IP. The season two premiere delivered Showtime‘s best debut for a second installment that the network has seen in more than 10 years.
That’s before we’ve even got to the fun part with episode two, Edible Complex, which features the first full-blown cannibalism episode of the show and was written by Lisco.

It’s nearly impossible to turn on the TV and not see at least one of Greg Berlanti’s shows airing. In fact, over the past few years, Berlanti Productions has had as many as 20 shows on the air at one time — a record-breaking number for a producer and creator. So, it’s no wonder he’s receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 23. Still, he never imagined this type of success.
After growing up in rural New York, he attended Northwestern University and thought about a career in theater, but wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. “I knew I liked storytelling. In college, I quickly realized that I wasn’t a tenth of the actor as some of my compatriots. I’ve always had a great deal of admiration for actors because I knew I couldn’t do it,” he tells Variety. “I always loved television,...

‘Manifest’s Matt Long, Marg Helgenberger, Jasmine Mathews & E.J. Bonilla Cast In ‘Getaway’ NBC Pilot
Amid talks about a new season of Manifest, one of the canceled NBC series’ core cast members, Matt Long, has booked a new pilot at the network but fans of the missing plane drama should not be too worried about it. Long, CSI alumna Marg Helgenberger, Jasmine Mathews (The Rookie) and E.J. Bonilla (The Old Man) are set as series regulars opposite Annie Ilonzeh in NBC drama pilot Getaway, from The Blacklist duo John Davis and John Fox and Universal TV, a division of Universal Studios Group.
I hear Long was approached about Getaway after the options on the Manifest cast expired last month and studio Warner Bros. Television ended its efforts to find a new home for the show after conversations with Netflix did not yield an agreement. On the surface, the story and theoretical appeal of Netflix’s new drama Firefly Lane seem clear. It is a decades-spanning tale of female friendship, meant to inspire laughter and lunges for the tissue box in equal measure, as it follow two women who both envy and complete each other. And it puts together a pair of seasoned TV stars: Katherine Heigl as Tully, the glamorous and confident one, and Sarah Chalke as the more modest and meek Kate. Adapted by Maggie Friedman (Witches of East End) from the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah,...

It’s an end of an era at Warner Bros. as Peter Roth, one of the most accomplished TV executives of the past couple of decades, will be leaving the independent television studio in early 2021 after 22 years.
Roth was upped to his current role as Chairman of the Warner Bros. Television Group in February when he signed a one-year extension to his most recent contract which was up in summer 2020. That was envisioned as the final chapter in Roth’s Warner Bros. TV tenure, whose course was changed dramatically when, a month after Roth re-upped his deal, the coronavirus pandemic hit, halting production and all other essential Hollywood activities, like in-person meetings, lunches, premieres and press junkets.
Also getting a course correction was Warner Bros. TV’s leadership succession plan. Roth’s top lieutenant and heir apparent, Wbtv President Susan Rovner, surprisingly left the studio after 22 years to become Chairman,...

The last time Logan Lerman, 28, starred on a television show was 15 years ago on the WB’s “Jack & Bobby.”
He made his return earlier this year with “Hunters,” playing a young man in New York City in 1979 who joins an underground group of Nazi hunters led by a Holocaust survivor (Al Pacino).
“I was really scared about the commitment so there was nothing that I was interested in for a long time just because you have to sign on for five, six years,” Lerman says on Tuesday’s episode of the Variety and iHeart podcast “The Big Ticket.” “I’ve been approached for other projects in the past, but nothing seemed like anything that I wanted to commit that much time to.”
But “Hunters” was different. “It just felt right,” Lerman said. “I liked where it was set up, too. It was at Amazon and I like that platform.

With 14 series across broadcast, cable and streaming networks, Greg Berlanti is the current record-holder for the busiest small-screen producer in the business. But he shows no signs of slowing down, having re-signed his overall deal with Warner Bros. to develop and produce additional projects.
“What allows me to go from thing to thing more than anything else is when I’m passionate about the stories and the people that I’m bouncing between,” says Berlanti, who is being honored with the Intl. Emmy Founders Award Nov. 19.
The majority of Berlanti’s current slate comes from dramatic adaptations of DC Comics properties, from the CW’s “The Flash” to DC Universe’s “Titans” and even some animated series for CW Seed. The comic world was an important part of his childhood, and he was thrilled to use that programming to fill a void on television. Now he is looking to be...

Nancy Etz has joined CAA as an agent in the TV literary department. Etz is one of nine ICM agents let go in the wake of ICM's purchase of the Broder Webb Chervin Silbermann Agency, which was announced last week (HR 7/31). She is the first one to land at a new company. Etz, an 11-year ICM veteran, most recently worked with such clients as Emmy-winning director-producer Alex Graves (The West Wing), Emmy-nominated writer Michael Caleo (The Sopranos), WGA-nominated writer Joel H. Cohen (The Simpsons), Maggie Friedman (Jack & Bobby), director Jon Amiel (Fox's Reunion), writer-producer Saladin K. Patterson (NBC's Frasier) and producer Ken Topolsky (CBS' Clubhouse). It is not clear which clients will follow her to CAA. While at ICM, Etz also guided the TV career of Everwood creator Greg Berlanti and his rise from a rookie staff writer on WB Network's Dawson's Creek to a sought-after creator-showrunner.
Greg Berlanti has inked a three-year overall deal with Touchstone Television. Under the mid-seven-figure pact, which starts today, the Everwood creator/executive producer will develop new series projects for the studio with his producing partner, Mickey Liddell. Berlanti moves to Touchstone after having spent the past three years at Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind Everwood. The deal marks a major transition for Berlanti, who got his start on WB Network's Dawson's Creek and went on to create Everwood and executive produce another WB/WBTV series, Jack & Bobby. "I grew up with the WB and Warner Bros., and now I'm ready to begin Phase 2 of my career," Berlanti said.

The WB Network has given a full-season vote of confidence to its new Sunday drama Jack & Bobby. The WB has ordered nine more episodes of the series, bringing the total number of episodes ordered to 22. The Warner Bros. Teens and young women voted for Jack & Bobby, but otherwise the new WB Network drama pulled in underwhelming Nielsen numbers in its debut Sunday. Jack & Bobby, a coming-of-age drama about the boyhood of a future president, has earned some of the strongest critical appraisals of any new fall series, but it averaged only 4.7 million viewers in the 9 p.m. hour, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. Jack & Bobby was down in viewers from its lead-in, the season premiere of Charmed (5.3 million), and it came in under the opening-night numbers in the same time slot last fall for the WB's short-lived Tarzan. The drama also slipped from Charmed's lead-in in adults 18-34 and other young demos.

She also is a programming executive on Everwood, Jack & Bobby and One Tree Hill. "I've known and admired Maria for over a decade now, and I'm tremendously impressed with how much she brings to the network as both a top development executive and someone talented enough to shepherd her series development through their first few seasons on the air," said David Janollari, president of entertainment at the network.

An intriguing promotional agreement between America Online's AOL Television, the WB Network and Warner Bros. Television will enable AOL for Broadband subscribers to watch the premiere episode of Jack & Bobby before it airs Sept. 12. The initiative marks the first time a network program has been available online before its broadcast premiere, according to the partners. The episode will be commercial-free, on-demand and viewable in the subscriber's choice of segments or uninterrupted from beginning to end. Suzanne Kolb, executive vp marketing at the WB, said showing the "exceptional program" in this unusual way would stimulate word-of-mouth. "In a crowded environment, we have to be aggressive in finding ways to get our shows sampled, and this is definitely aggressive," she said.
