Do I put out some kind of Com-Shuk-me vibe? You'd tell me, right?

Warning: Spoilers
Do I put out some kind of Com-Shuk-me vibe? You'd tell me, right? - Definitely my favorite Pylean-episode. Seems like all the best scenes of Pylea were in this one. I loved the introduction of 'Groo', he and 'Cordy' were really cute together. We also got to see Joss Whedon dance as 'Numfar' which was GREAT fun. And 'Angel' met 'Fred', great chemistry between those two. I think I liked 'Fred' the most during the pylean-arc, she was so cute and innocent and crazy. The episode ends with 'Cordy' getting threatened by the evil priests by showing her 'Lorne's bodyless head. Great episode, loved the music. Kinda fairytale-ish. FRED: The portal! She fell through the portal!. ANGEL: Who did?. FRED: That other girl. I couldn't save her. I was arrested. They got her. She's a slave. She'll die! ANGEL: Oh. Cordy. No, she's fine. They made her a princess. FRED: They... Really? Oh. When I got here they... They didn't do that. (10 out of 10)

THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

The Good; Angel sees his hair in the mirror for the first time, you always wondered? (I guess Dru always fixed Spike's?) Lovely reveal of WR&H, very clever. Also like the double bluff of Cordy meeting the Groo. All the scenes with Lorne's family are hysterical.

The Bad; Aside from that this seems to be a case of 6 characters rushing about in search of a plot?

Best line: Lorne's mother; "No longer do the dance of joy Numfar"

Jeez, how did they get away with that? Angel still enjoys telling the story of cutting Lindsey's arm off, still some bad feeling there obviously.

Apocalypses: 5

Angel Clichés Inverting the Hollywood cliché; Angel actually enjoys playing the hero, revelling in his (literal) moment in the sun.

In disguise; 8

DB get's his shirt off; 12

Cordy's tattoo; 6,

Cheap Angel; 7

Fang Gang in bondage: Wes, Gunn and Lorne again Cordy: 5 Angel: 9 Wes: 6 Gunn; 3 Lorne; 2

Fang gang knocked out: Lorne again Cordy: 10 Angel: 12 Wes: 5 Doyle; 1 Gunn; 1 Lorne; 2

Kills: Angel kills 2 demons Cordy: 5 vamps, 1 demons Angel; 26 vamps, 35 and 1/2 demons, 3 humans Doyle; 1 vamp Wes; 3 demons Kate; 3 vamps Faith; 16 vamps, 6 demons, 3 humans. Gunn; 7 vamps+ 2 demons.

Fang Gang go evil: almost Angel but not quite Cordy: 2 Angel: 2

Alternate Fang Gang: demon Angel Cordy: 2 Angel: 7

Characters killed: 37

Recurring characters killed; 6;

Total number of Angel Investigations: 4, Angel, Cordy, Wes and Gunn

Angel Investigations shot: Angel: 11 Wes; 1

Packing heat; Wes; 3 Doyle; 1 Angel; 1

Notches on Fang Gang bedpost: Cordy: 2 ?+Wilson/Hacksaw Beast Angel: 2; Buffy and Darla Wes; 2; Virginia and the bleached blonde

Kinky dinky: Cordy is expected to Com-shuk with the Groo, as Gunn observes "Sounds dirty to me". Obvious sexual attraction between Queen C and Groo, Lorne asks should he call the guards back with their cuffs? Cordy once again in a bikini despite saying she doesn't want to seem 'too easy' for the Groo. Cordy observes it's a long time since she Com-shuked and remarks on her propensity to be impregnated by demons "Do I send out some sort of 'Com-Shuk me' vibe?" (YES!) There's a great t-shirt slogan for you. Even the Groo of course is part-demon but can only mate with humans.

Captain Subtext; Huge beauty and beast vibe between Angel and Fred, Fangel right from the start. Lorne also seems enamoured of Groo so more evidence for the bi vibe. Wes keeps a picture of Cordy in his wallet

Know the face, different character; 2

Parking garages; 5,

Buffy characters on Angel; 15 Wetherby, Collins and Smith. Angel, Cordy, Oz, Spike, Buffy, Wes, Faith, Darla, Dru, Master, Anne, Willow and Harmony

Questions and observations; Here's the Groo, yay! After being abused and pushed around for the last 3 eps Cordy is now a Queen as she always wanted to be. Some beautiful small details like Cordy's little finger gesture when she tells the constable who wants the 'Most high princess' to feast on AI's blood "You're most high if you think that's going to happen!". Also Cordy reaching out to embrace her friends who walk past her to the food, shades of Indianna Jones (except Angel who makes for the mirror). Wes' idea of a list of demands sent to the Princess sounds reminiscent of Magna Carta.

Cordelia the Puppet Princess
Samuel-Shovel14 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
In "Through the Looking Glass", we pick up right where we left off after the discovery that Cordy is now the princess of the land. She pardons her friends and the gang splits up, Gunn & Wesley stay in the castle and use the castle's library to figure out how to get home. They learn of an upcoming ritual and attempt to help Cordy escape with them before she's destined to mate with the Groosalugg. Lorne & Angel head out to see if they can figure out how Lorne was able to go through the portal the last time. Gunn & Wesley leave the castle but Cordy gets taken to meet the Groosalugg, a rather charming, handsome "cow". Angel becomes a local celebrity for a second before he's tasked with beheading a "cow". The cow turns out to be Fred who disappeared from LA 5 years ago. The two escape together but Angel accidentally unleashes his demon and can't get it back under control. Gunn & Wesley are captured by rebel "cows". Cordy begins to make royal decrees much to the chagrin of the priests. They decide to send her a message by chopping off Lorne's head and giving it to her on a platter.

If this really is the end of Lorne, I'm sad to see him go. He's a character whose wisecracking, smooth-talking demeanor had really begun to grow on me a bit. He's nice in small doses but too much of him can get a bit tiresome. Still, his death really put stakes to this entire story arc and really showed Cordy the rules to the game.

I didn't really understand the whole "inner demon" thing with Angel. The rules of this dimension continue to become more confusing as we go along. I'll be kind of happy when we head back to LA. The whole Wolf, Ram, and Hart book angle was interesting. I'd assume they'd show up at some point and muck things up but how they tie into this is yet to be determined. After 2 full seasons of WRH as the big baddie, it feels like a new ultimate menace might be soon on the horizon.

Another great Pylea episode
katierose29527 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
"Through the Looking Glass" is another great Pylea episode. It really sets up a lot of problems for the characters and explores some really interesting ideas about identity. Most of the characters have to face up to some new ideas about themselves and their pasts; How they see each other and how others see them. This is a really fun episode that you really shouldn't skip if you're watching the show on DVD.

The episode revolves around Cordy being the new queen of Pylea. Her visions are part of some ancient prophesy and now she's being hailed as Pylea's messiah. She's pretty happy, but everyone else is determined to get back home. Angel and Lorne head over to see Lorne's family. Wes and Gunn start looking through Pylea's ancient texts trying to find a way to open another portal. And then Cordy learns that she's expected to "comshuck with the Grooslugg." Gunn points out that it sounds kinna dirty and he's right. It's a mating ritual. Cordy, not thrilled with the idea of sleeping with a Pylean demon, agrees to leave the castle. She, Gunn and Wes try to escape. Cordy is captured, though.

Meanwhile, Angel is quickly becoming the most popular "cow" in Pylea. He's telling everyone about his adventures and Lorne's family is treating him as an honored guest. He's soon given the ceremonial task of slaughtering an animal for a feast. Unfortuantle, the animal is a "cow" (Pylean for human) and her name is Fred. Angel's not about to kill some woman, so he rescues her and they run off into the hills. Fred's been living in a cave for the past five years, ever since she was sucked through a portal from LA. Gaurds come to try and recapture her, and Angel fights them off. But his vampire powers act differently in Pylea. His full blown demon side comes out making him a mindless green killer.

Wes and Gunn are lost in the Pylean woods when Angel appears and nearly kills them. Fred lures Angel away from them and Angel finally regains control. He's so upset that his friends have seen his demon side that he collapses in the cave and refuses to speak for hours. Wes and Gunn are trying to figure out what happened to Angel. Wes thinks that Pylea's upset Angel's natural, supernatural balance. Angel might be able to walk in the sun and see his reflection, but he also can't stay in control of his inner demon. Before they can go looking for Angel, they're captured by human rebels. The rebels want to bring down the Pylean government and Cordelia. And they think that executing her friends will be a good place to start.

Back at the palace, Cordy is pleasantly surprised to see the Grooslugg. He's not a demon, after all. He's a human warrior and he's gorgeous. She and Groo are getting along really well. In fact, Cordy isn't adverse to comshucking with Groo, at all. But, the Pylean government is getting frustrated with Cordy. They aren't nice guys and her independence and dictatorial leadership style is starting to annoy them. To teach her a lesson the execute Lorne as a traitor and bring her his head.

There are some great parts to this episode. I just love watching Angel preen in front of the mirror, fiddling with his hair. He so cute. And his popularity in Pylea is just hilarious. Angel walks around in fur capes and entertains children with tales of his bravery. (I especially have to laugh when Angel relates the tale of his epic battle with the Lindsey the "lawyer beast.") Poor Lorne is so annoyed as Angel basks in his new celebrity. And I love Cordy all excited over being an powerful ruler. She sees no reason to ever go back to the "Cordelia's not a princess" dimension. Then when she finally does decided to escape, she takes a pile of gold and jewelry along as "suvioneers." It's pretty funny. And Fred comes into better focus in this episode. She and Angel work really well together. She's so hyper and he's so... Not. You just have to smile. And I like the covers of the ancient, magical Pylean books coming together to read Wolf, Ram and Hart. That's just cool.

On the down side, I'm sorry that the characters spend so much time separated in this episode. Cordy's with Groo at the castle. Wes and Gunn are in the woods. Angel's with Fred. Team Angel doesn't get enough time to really interact as a group.

My favorite part of the episode: Lorne's brother, Numfar, dancing.

The One Where Cordelia Is A Princess...
taylorkingston21 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. I find it really entertaining.

In this episode, Wesley, Gunn, Angel and Lorne find Cordelia in Pylea. They discover that she is being treated as their princess because of her visions. And she is just loving it. So much. Now she is the leader and ruler of the entire kingdom. Wesley and Gunn try to find a portal, to be able to get home and Lorne visits his family. Who are not happy to see him. Angel becomes popular with the local green people and finds and rescues Fred. Cornelia finds out some very important information about her new role as princess, and it's not all good. Eventually, everything goes wrong for everyone and Lorne is even arrested for treason.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10.

Cordy: What is it about me anyway? Do I put out some kind of Com-shok-me vibe? I mean, you'd tell me, right?
bombersflyup3 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Through the Looking Glass is about Angel's inner demon brought forth and Cordy as the princess.

Now entirely in Pylea, it's not bad, plenty goofy though. Lorne goes to see his family and Angel given a hero's welcome. We get to know Fred a bit, as she saves Wes and Gunn from Angel's inner demon and helps him recover.
