Something terrible is coming.

The X-men in this episode have to deal with a strong opponent. There's some good action going on. And the storytelling and introduction of characters feels right.

The story itself is also strong as well and the characters in it. You can see that the series is finding it's lane here. The episode is the second part of the Apocalypse story. It finished that story while at the same time it prepares for the new story. And whilst the previous episode was a bit chaotic, in this episode the three element of finishing, continuing and starting new threads is remarkable well done.

Come the Apocalypse.

Warning: Spoilers
Come the Apocalypse isn't the best of episode's, it's filled with meaningless destruction and explosions left and right. Where an immensely powerful mutant called Apocalypse plots to destroy the world, by recruiting miserable mutants with deceit of a cure. Unfortunately we're given no backstory or information on Apocalypse, which seems to be a bit of a theme of the show. The Archangel character has been given a level of importance, in which much more interesting and integral characters haven't and have just passed through recent episodes. Hope it picks up soon.

Double cheeked up Rogue my beloved.

Warning: Spoilers
Really liked the idea of Apocalypse tricking mutants into joining his army with the promise of a cure. The Horsemen look super goofy on their colorful robot ponies. I sincerely hope they weren't supposed to look intimidating. The horsemen are also all no-name mutants we don't know or care about. Apocalypse himself doesn't feel particularly threatening and gets defeated fairly quickly. In the end he's yet another generic villain of the week who appeared after little buildup and was defeated 10 minutes later. This seems to be a problem with the show in general, the stories don't get any time to breathe at all. Not the worst episode but pretty underwhelming.
