Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton entering into a unique arrangement, J.Lo fighting evil artificial intelligence, the roasting of an NFL legend, a retelling of the invention of the Pop Tart, Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt at war and John Mulaney’s six-night live comedy event from Los Angeles are some of the big titles hitting Netflix in May.
Debuting on May 3 is Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut, Unfrosted. The comedy legend works both sides of the camera for this humorous feature take on the birth of the Pop Tart. The movie is set in 1963 as breakfast cereal giants Kellogg’s and Post compete to become the first company to create a morning pastry. Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan and Amy Schumer also star, with Hugh Grant more than likely to steal the whole film with a turn as Tony the Tiger.

As summer approaches (for the Northern Hemisphere at least), Netflix is set to premiere a fresh season of one of its biggest hits.
Brigerton season 3 is set to arrive on May 16 and will debut a “new crop of debutantes” into the regency drama fray. Other original series of note this month include Indian drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (May 1), the Jeff Daniels-starring A Man in Full (May 2), and intriguing Korean title The 8 Show (May 17). Of course, Netflix is also rolling out a suite of true crime docs and docuseries as well. Chief among those options is Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal on May 15.
It’s the movie side of things where Netflix is feeling particularly lively though. May 3 sees the arrival of Jerry Seinfeld Pop Tart comedy Unfrosted. That will be followed by rom-com Mother of the Bride (May 9) and the Jennifer Lopez-starring Atlas (May 24).

M. Night Shyamalan returns to theaters in August with new thriller Trap (watch the trailer here), but first up we’re getting the feature debut of his daughter, Ishana Night Shyamalan.
Director Ishana Night Shyamalan’s (“Servant”) horror movie The Watchers is coming to theaters on June 14, 2024, and New Line Cinema has released a brand new trailer today.
This full trailer for The Watchers gives us a much better idea of what’s going on here, while still retaining the core mystery at the center of the film. All we really know is that there’s a building in the center of the woods that’s observed on a nightly basis by… someone. Or something.
These mysterious creatures watch a group of humans like their own twisted version of reality TV. “No one sees them and survives,” one character states. A different character says, “They have come to our world for a reason,...

Cillian Murphy capped off his domination of awards season by claiming the top acting prize for film on home soil.
The Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globe and SAG award winner on Saturday night added perhaps a final statue to his flawless haul of honors for Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” when he was named best lead actor at the 21st Irish Film and TV Academy Awards.
“God, I’m still so brutal at this,” the famously shy actor said on collecting the award, presented to him by “Killers of the Flower Moon” star and fellow recent awards circuit regular Lily Gladstone. “But being in this room is so special — being at home, with people that I love and admire amongst my fellow nominees and some of my favorite people.” Speaking backstage afterwards at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, he added: “It feels lovely being home with so many friends and colleagues.”

Lola better get some new sneakers.
Sony Pictures Classics has announced it will re-release Tom Tykwer’s 1999 German action classic Run Lola Run, in a new 4K restored version, in U.S. cinemas this summer, timed to the 25th anniversary of the movie’s original domestic bow.
Franka Potente stars as the titular athletic Lola in the film, racing to find 100,000 deutsche marks in time to rescue her boyfriend Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu) who is in deep with a local gangster. Every choice Lola makes, big or small, changes her ultimate fate. The film is told three times, with three separate endings, an approach that recalls video game aesthetics. Herbert Knaup, Joachim Król and Nina Petri co-star.
Run Lola Run was a sensation when it was first released and grossed more than $7 million in the United States and Canada for SPC, becoming one of the highest-grossing non-English-language films ever at that time.

Lola, whose protagonist careens from one traumatic experience to the next, doesn’t explore hardship – it exploits it
If a nepo baby makes a laughably oblique film portraying what she must imagine to be the strife of the impoverished class, but hardly anyone watches it, will it hurt her career?
That’s sort of a trick question. Nicola Peltz Beckham, daughter of the Disney agitator investor and billionaire Nelson Peltz, and daughter-in-law of the power couple David and Victoria Beckham, dwells in a tax stratum so high that her career’s successes and failures are almost irrelevant. Most learned her name when her father filed a lawsuit against two of her former wedding planners over a $159,000 deposit – a relatively small amount in comparison with the reported $3.8m bill for her nuptials to Brooklyn Beckham. She has acted in a handful of television shows and movies since she was 11, but Lola,...

After 12 seasons on linear TV, flagship Spanish talent show “Operación Triunfo,” produced by Banijay Iberia’s Gestmusic, has jumped successfully to the online environment via Prime Video.
“Operación Triunfo’s” first gala was the most viewed premiere in the history of Prime Video in Spain. Its app for voting accumulated 53 million votes and, on social networks, generated 718.9 million views in TikTok and YouTube, according to VOD analytics Sigmados30.
Since 2021, when Netflix teamed with Grupo iZen to launch “Insiders,” the streamer’s first Spanish Original reality show, the demand of unscripted content on the online platforms has been progressively increasing.

Elon Musk is backing Nelson Peltz in the proxy battle for the future of Disney.
Onlookers are waiting with baited breath after the bitter voting to select Disney’s board of directors closed last night, with CEO Bob Iger’s nominees appearing likely to win out. However, that didn’t stop X/Twitter and Tesla owner Musk taking to social media this morning to provide his two cents.
He wrote: “Nelson Peltz should definitely be on the Disney board! He would help reform the company, improve the quality of product and generally serve in the best interests of shareholders, as he has done at many other companies. This would significantly improve Disney’s share price.”

To combat the ominous atmosphere of the Ides of March, Netflix has another Lindsay Lohan film, “Irish Wish,” which is now streaming. The follow-up to “Falling for Christmas” in Lohan’s deal with the streamer to make two films, “Irish Wish” focuses on love, luck and a little bit of magic in the rom-com that arrives right before Saint Patrick’s Day.
Lohan portrays a smart book editor, except when it comes to matters of her heart. It takes a wish granted by a mystical woman out in the beautiful Irish countryside to get Maddie to realize that what she hopes and dreams for might not be what she wants or should want in life.
Featuring music from Lohan’s younger sister, Aliana, and a guest appearance from her brother, Dokota, the cast is stacked with other familiar faces as well. We’ve rounded up the “Irish Wish” cast and...

Nicola Peltz brought back a familiar item of clothing, straight from her mother-in-law Victoria Beckham‘s closet!
The 29-year-old Lola star was seen stepping out with husband Brooklyn Beckham in Paris last week, wearing the black, white and blue biker jacket.
Keep reading to find out more…
The jacket is from the Dolce&Gabbana Spring/Summer 2001 collection, and Victoria was seen wearing it all the way back in May 2001 while attending a football match to cheer on hubby David Beckham in Manchester, England.
Nicola styled the look very similarly to Victoria 23 years prior, pairing it with blue jeans, black platform boots and a pair of sunglasses.
Just a couple days later, Nicola joined Brooklyn, his siblings Cruz and Harper, and dad David to sit front row at the Victoria Beckham fashion show at Paris Fashion Week.
A few weeks earlier, Victoria showed her support for Nicola at the premiere of her new movie Lola.

Lola is a gripping 2024 film directed by Nicola Peltz Beckham that hits you right in the feels and reminds me of movies like Little Miss Sunshine and The Florida Project. The story revolves around Lola, a young girl stuck in a seriously messed-up family situation. Her mom’s all about preaching about sin and God’s wrath, while her mom’s boyfriend, Trick, is just plain bad news. Lola’s only ray of hope? Her little brother, Arlo. She’d do anything to protect him from their toxic home life, even if it meant taking on crazy jobs like strip dancing and working in the supermarket, just to save up enough cash to get them out of there. But here’s the twist: to cope with all that life throws at her, Lola turns to drugs. And suddenly, all that preaching about sin starts to feel a bit hypocritical. She starts asking herself,...

The official trailer for Ishana Night Shyamalan’s (“Servant”) horror movie The Watchers debuted earlier this week, and today the film has been given a new release date.
Originally set for theatrical release from New Line Cinema on June 7, the M. Night Shyamalan-produced The Watchers will now be releasing in theaters on June 14, 2024.
The reason? The Crow remake just flew into that June 7, 2024 slot this week.

The Watchers stars Dakota Fanning (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Oliver Finnegan (“Creeped Out”) and Olwen Fouere (The Northman).
The upcoming mystery-horror film is produced by M. Night Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad. The executive producers are Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer.

It was a “clean break,” David Beckham said on Valentine’s Day. No, the Beckhams aren’t splitting after 24 years of marriage. The retired soccer star was referring to his wife’s foot injury, which the 49-year-old suffered this Valentine’s Day.
Fans know Victoria Beckham for her dedication to staying fit. Unfortunately, her February 14 workout led to a fall at the gym and, ultimately, a “clean break” of her foot. Both Victoria and David shared snaps of her swollen foot on the holiday. They also shared sentimental photos of their love.

Nicola Peltz Beckham started acting at age 12 but it wasn’t until three years later that she started working with acting coach Nancy Banks. She still relies on Banks to guide performances to this day as well as the tool she packed into her creative process. Every time she lands a new gig, Peltz Beckham journals as the character she’s going to play, writing down their private thoughts, experiences and feelings and answering questions about what their life was like before their name appeared on a script.
“Obviously, 99 percent of the time when you get a script, it doesn’t start the day a character is born. They have a whole life before that. With my journals, I write about my character’s life, imagining the first time they were embarrassed or the first time they kissed someone. What was the first big fight with their mom and what was that relationship like?...

In the first live episode of Live with Kelly and Mark this week, Kelly Ripa revealed something surprising that she said to Mark Consuelos, her husband.
The couple frequently travel together to places like Michigan to see their son Joaquin at college. He is on the wrestling team at the University of Michigan, and Kelly and Mark are doting parents going to his matches.
But Kelly has no problems setting boundaries with Mark about when and where she will travel with him; at least, it seemed that way on Live.
Kelly and Mark animatedly talked about their long weekend during the popular host chat segment, but it appears the close couple could not have been further apart after they saw Joaquin in Michigan.
Mark began talking about their weekend and how much he loved the Italian soccer team they owned, and that is when Kelly surprised everyone with what she turned down.

Samuel L. Jackson knows his legacy will last forever, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he wants his image to be used “in perpetuity.”
The iconic film star, who most recently appears in Disney+ Marvel series “Secret Invasion,” revealed his apprehension about the use artificial intelligence in Hollywood in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.
“People just started worrying about that? I asked about that a long time ago,” Jackson said while discussing being “scanned,” a common practice for Marvel actors. “The first time I got scanned for George Lucas, I was like, ‘What’s this for?'”
Jackson continued, “George and I are good friends, so we kind of had a laugh about it because I thought he was doing it because he had all those old guys in ‘Episode I,’ and if something happened to them, he still wanted to put them in the movie.”

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham is ready to expand his family. "I think I've said it a lot of times, that I'm very excited to be a dad," he tells Popsugar. A lot of the motivation for wanting to have kids at a young age has to do with wanting to follow in his parents' footsteps. Victoria and David Beckham had Brooklyn in 1999, when they were 24 and 23 years old, respectively. "My dad was young when he had me, and it was just so nice because we did everything together," Brooklyn says.
The Beckham family - which includes Brooklyn's younger brothers, Romeo and Cruz, and his little sister, Harper - is very close-knit. Brooklyn says he took his dad's marriage advice to heart before tying the knot with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham. "I always try and make her happy. I do everything to make her happy," the 24-year-old explains. "That was the advice my dad gave me.
