really starting to wonder about this show
nerrdrage21 January 2024
So here we have this fascinating setup where we don't know what's on the outside (healthy planet Earth? Alien world? Maybe they're all in a generational spaceship and the whole thing is a simulation to keep them happy with being bottled up) and, going in the other direction, a borer that could dig down into the earth (if there is earth down there) to discover new things.

And instead we're stuck with an uninteresting murder mystery about a character we barely knew, and a lot of obsession about "relics" that is also not very interesting. I keep watching hoping they'll stop with the filler and get back to the story with the sheriff and his wife (remember them?).

Also, Common can't act. A lot of these actors seem pretty meh.

Better than episode 4, but not by much.

Warning: Spoilers
I really want to give this show credit. This is better than a lot of the slop that's being churned out by streaming services these days.

However, there seems to be a mid-season slump that these writers insist upon. The last two episodes have been barely more than half meandering fanfiction. Not the good kind either.

I will say that most of the acting is still great, unfortunately there are a few characters that I can already tell will be annoying until they day they are killed off. Yet, it is only 5 episodes in and now the series has been given a second season, so I am re-interested.

I will say the silo is still an incredibly interesting set piece that we have barely seen any of. We have seen some of the very bottom, a lot of the very top, but only a bit in the large middle section. The one downside to the silo however is it insists upon it's characters being oblivious to a lot of very obvious stuff, like what stars are for some reason, because I guess the founders decided stars were a bad part of history and stripped them from the books allowed.

In a book you can make a character oblivious and it's a lot more charming, because you don't have to watch a grown adult struggle to act like they can't figure out basic concepts.

3 words Botox..Botox..Botox !!!!
saltyzip15 June 2023
Why does Juliette Nichols have Botox overload on her face, she can't frown. You can see her muscles are moving unnaturally either side of her temple at times. It's somewhat spoilt her character, she is not playing the sort of person who would take Botox and I'm pretty sure they won't be serving it up in the silo either.

Hoping it's going to wear off and she will start to appear normal and provide some expression.

Othan than Botox issue really enjoying this show, it's fast moving at the moment, easy to binge watch, characters are varied and interesting. Nothing too stupid and unbelievable to make you roll your eyes.

Waiting Patiently...

Warning: Spoilers
I'm watching this as this going off the source material. But I'm waiting to deliver great conclusion for the show. Character build up is important. But I'm curious how they going to tackle the execution of the Juliette being outside and all.

However, So far so good. Acting seems to be pretty decent. Looking forward to the Lukas and Juliette relationship and how they going to interact going forward the series.

I'm big fan of the books and Rebecca Ferguson performance as Juliette got me hook episode by episode. Fingers crossed and this review dedicated to anyone who dares dream of a better place.

Loved The Book, Not Sure About The Show
paulwetor9 March 2024
I've read the Wool trilogy twice, and may read it again. So far this series has been amazingly well done. The set of the Silo looks like what I expected. And that's not easy, since the different levels are not the same. Each has its own function and purpose. I know there must be CGI but it doesn't stand out, which is good. I don't want to watch a cartoon.

That said, I'm wondering about the story. I suppose it has to be padded and visually exciting, but am I watching an underground cop show? That part of the plot was in the book, but not to this degree.

Maybe I have to reset my thinking. This is not a movie of the book but a TV series based on the book. They spent a lot of money on sets and plan to get plenty of use out of them. Each episode has a story and a cliffhanger ending. Plan to be in it for the long haul or give up now.

Only up to episode 5, and already feels like FanFic
ginger-11127 May 2023
This episode feels like a short story out of the Silo fan fiction library. Someone had a great idea for a story and here it is! But what about THE story? What is it with writers these days that they have to take someone else's original story and then completely rewrite it with their own ideas? All it does is bog down the series with filler episodes and frustrate viewers who are waiting for something to FINALLY happen.

Screen adaptations are often different from the original book. I get that. Viewers want action and intrigue. The series started out with some (pretty significant) changes and plot devices in order to set the scene and give context. But read the reviews and it's obvious that people are misinterpreting what's really going on here. It's not surprising when you consider how much of the last few episodes have been filler. Just tell the story! It's a GREAT story! It doesn't need to be dragged out with these fan fiction rabbit holes.

At the rate this is going, it would be 10 years before this series got to the end of the first book. And you still won't know what's going on.

Just read the book. It'll be quicker. And it will make more sense.

Good start but that's it
johnanderson198923 June 2023
Admittedly I'm only upto episode 5 but it's just become boring, slow and predictable.

Feels like we're being drip fed in each episode, either it's repeating itself or changing the circumstances slightly, with minimal new content in each episode and its pretty poor at that.

I put off watching episode 5 for a number of weeks due to episode 4 becoming boring and I don't feel any different now after 5, another slow burn that doesn't offer much.

A 50 minute episode feels like it has maybe 10 minutes worth of actual decent content, the rest is just filler.

Progression is slow, I just hope it's not dragged out over 5+ seasons, I feel obliged to see it through due to starting it and it initially being good., at least for season 1 anyway.

Episode 5
bobcobb30129 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode had a little bit of excitement and a little bit of a clearer and more concise story, but the show just seems to drag and drag. I think we all knew that the bad guy (well, you could ask which one) was going to get pushed over the edge with how that scene was playing out. Common's acting just feels sos tiff and does not really fit the nature or tone of the show at all.

Silo is getting a lot of praise and buzz from people on the internet, but a lot of just feels like they are trying too hard. Time will tell if the show can hook people in and give them a satisfying conclusion in the final epsiode.
