Pedro Pascal and Peter Dinklage Masterclass
Garrett-Baker24 March 2022
The actors in this show are all phenomenal. But in this episode, Dinklage and Pascal really shine. The scene between them is one of my absolute favorite scenes from the entire series. Their conversation is both heartbreaking and beautiful. What a moment it is when Oberyn reveals his plan. Sends chills down my spine.

Very Good, the final 3 episodes should be one wild ride.
OmarHartwellWhite19 May 2014
A very good episode which features some great dialogue exchanges and really grabs and holds your interest for the duration of the episode. Along with the previous episode, major decisions and events were set into motion and we will see the results in the final three episodes. Game of thrones never really has simple transitional or filler episodes, and this definitely is not either. Two of my favorite characters are heavily featured in this episode. The first sees an opportunity to try and right some of the wrongs of his past and makes complete sense looking back on everything this season and I'm sure many even saw this coming. The other, probably the most devious mastermind of them all (in my opinion), is constantly manipulating everything and everyone around him for his own personal current and future advancement. Nothing is ever as it seems with this character, and the only thing you can predict with him is that he will make himself better off. By the end of this episode you will may become a little angry due to the fact that you have to wait a week until the next episode. I for one cannot wait to watch these next three episodes play out, it should be one wild ride!

The Champion
claudio_carvalho21 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Tyrion and Jaime have a long conversation in the dungeons about Tyrion's fate and Jaime explains that he cannot be his champion since he is not a good fighter with the left hand. Tyrion asks Jaime to bring Bronn to talk to him. Bronn visits Tyrion and also declines to be his champion. He explains that Cercei has chosen the dangerous The Mountain to be her champion and bribed him, offering a noble woman to marry him. Out of the blue, Oberyn Martell visits Tyrion and surprisingly offers to be his champion. Daenerys spends the night with Daario and in the morning, Jorah stumbles with Daario living her room. Daenerys explains that asked him to go to Yunkai to kill the masters to control the city, but Jorah convinces her to bring justice without execution. Arya kills Rorge at a house burnt to the ground and gets closer to The Hound. Brienne and Pod dine at an inn where Hot Pie works and then he tells that Arya is alive with The Hound. Jon Snows unsuccessfully tries to convince the Night's Watch to seal the tunnel with ice to protect Castle Black from an invasion. Sansa has a friction and slaps Robin and Littlefinger witnesses her attitude and tells to Sansa to not worry. Then he kisses her, but Lysa sees from a window. Lysa summons Sansa and threatens to throw her through the Moon Door, but Littlefinger protects Sansa. Then he throws Lysa out through the Moon Door.

"Mockingbird" is another great episode of "Game of Thrones", where Peter Dinklage steals the show. The dialogs between Tyrion and Jaime, Bronn and Oberyn are awesome, and the explanation of Oberyn about the birth of Tyrion is heartbreaking. Arya is another impressive character and it is amazing how brutal she is becoming to survive. Littlefinger, together with Cercei, are maybe the most despicable characters to this show. Let 's see the fate of Sansa after the death of Lysa. My vote is nine.

Who will be Tyrion's champion?
Tweekums20 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
After Tyrion's speech in the previous episode the trial is over and he is back in his dungeon. Jaime pays him a visit and he is disappointed to learn that his brother won't act as his champion; he hasn't learnt to fight with his left hand and would stand no chance against Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane, who Cersei has chosen to represent her. Tyrion has no more luck when he asks Bronn to fight for him; he has been bought off with an attractive bribe and the prospect of a castle… and understandably isn't keen to fight The Mountain. It is his third visitor who provides a surprise by offering to fight for Tyrion… none other than the Lannister hating Oberyn Martell.

Across the Narrow Sea Daenerys orders Daario Naharis to take the Second Sons to retake Yunkai and kill all of the masters; Jorah Mormont counsels her to be merciful and changes her mind. At Castle Black Jon Snow advises the Night's Watch to block the tunnel through the wall before Mance Rayder's forces arrive but his advice falls of deaf ears. Arya and The Hound are continuing on their way to the Eyrie and are attacked giving Arya another chance to use Needle. As Brienne and Podrick stop at an inn for a meal they learn that Arya is alive and being taken to the Eyrie. Finally at the Eyrie Sansa strikes Robin and is kissed by Lord Baelish… either of which could enrage her mad aunt.

There might not be a huge amount of action in this episode; just one gory scene where The Mountain dispatches a bunch of no-hopers forced to fight him; that doesn't mean this isn't a fine instalment. There is also a great scene where Arya kills a soldier; he has her sword in his heart before he even knows she is a danger to him; Maisie Williams was brilliant in this scene. As one might expect Peter Dinklage is fantastic as Tyrion talks to his three visitors and Nikolaj Coaster-Waldau, Jerome Flynn and Pedro Pascal impress as Jaime Lannister, Bronn and Oberyn Martell. The final scene, at the Eyrie, is impressive and quite shocking; Sophie Turner is getting better and better as Sansa, possibly because her character is getting more to do, Aidan Gillen was great as Lord Baelish; just about everything his character does should make him unlikeable but every so often he does something that makes the viewer cheer for him and Kate Dickie impressed as Sansa's mad aunt Lysa as she spoke of what happened to those who went through the moon gate before trying to push Sansa out. Overall another fine episode with many great scenes; even the secondary scenes are enjoyable and advanced the plot.

Shocking!! GRRM is the most ruthless person ever.
moviestics18 May 2014
No Spoilers ahead!!

After his great speech in the last episode, and on his demand of trial by combat, Tyrion is rescued to his cell. Jaime comes to meet him there and tells him how he's lost this golden opportunity to live out of the trial. But Tyrion says that he'll not join the castle for a crime he's not committed. Then they discuss about who's going to fight for the crown and who for Tyrion. I'll stop here about it.

In Meereen, things are going to change a little bit. The Hound is having some tough time along with Arya. Brienne and Podrik are wondering where Sansa might be and they meet an old companion of Arya in their way. And "the mockingbird" is a special treat for you to watch! Not gonna spoil that!

Once again, Peter Dinklage succeeds in sending chills down your spines with his brilliant acting along with an extremely brilliant background score. This episode is directed by Alik Sakharov, who won an emmy for his brilliant cinematography in the TV series 'Rome'. Here again, some shots will leave you mesmerized.

This is the one episode of this season, where many "important" things happen. And I mean really really important. Watch out.

Warning: Spoilers
F**k your own sister. Tyrion is at the end of his road, and he hardly cares what his tongue lets out, even to his own brother. Though perhaps there is desperation there in finding a champion. Who would fight for a murderer? A smile on both their faces and a bit of brotherly love and humanity for just one moment was nice. We are brought back to his harsh reality when we realise the Mountain that Rides will be Cersei's champion. The actor, a strongman, is massive and intimidating in his butchering of those prisoners, a bad omen for Tyrion's champion.

A absolutely chilling scene from Oberyn was firstly set up from some great back-story about him and Elia visiting Tyrion when they were younger. As he recounts Cersei's hatred for Tyrion even as a baby you can see tears in Tyrion's eyes. Fantastic acting, and Oberyn announcing himself as champion topped it all off. Can't wait for the fight.

A very heavy moment of realisation for Arya as they come across a dying man. She preaches that nothing is worse than death, and even the Hound shows a little mercy, but we still see Arya unflinching accept that there are casualties in war. The surprise attack from Rorge was a bit anti-climatic, but at least Arya is learning with that stab to the heart. Great bit of characterisation with the Hound's story about his scars, something he has probably never told anyone else. It shows how close they are getting and how Arya is also learning to care for him a little.

I find new Daario a bit lacking, his delivery of his lines doesn't compare to the old swagger of the previous actor. Safe to say that Dany so quickly falling for this sellsword was a bit disappointing and the nudity a bit unnecessary. So was the nudity in Mel's scene, but I did like how Selyse brought up her and Stannis' infidelity as a non-sin in service of the Lord of Light. It really captures how devoted she is that she would let Stannis sleep with Mel.

I felt a little sorry for Jorah as he bumps into a shirtless Daario outside Dany's chambers but he still is steadfast in his beliefs and that is admirable. His advice is very telling as he himself was given mercy after slave trading and wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for Ned Stark, which Dany takes to heart, trusting him to deal with the slavers in Yunkaii.

A real nice cameo from Hot Pie and his gravy at the inn where so much has happened. He might be a little behind on current events given he think Arya is still with the Brotherhood without Banners, but it's the thought that counts, shown by his vastly improved bread direwolf.

As most GOT episodes go, they save the best till last and that is certainly true here. A few episodes ago we got the reveal that Littlefinger masterminded Jon Arryn's death and everything else but he tops it here. But first we get a touching scene from Sansa as she struggles to find any lasting remnants of her family and Winterfell in her snow castle. The Winterfell theme in the background was a nice touch.

Kate Dickie is fantastic as the maniacal and crazy Lysa and I will miss her performance. Her freak out at Sansa and Petyr's kiss and nearly killing Sansa was so great and her tears seemed genuine. Petyr was as cold as ever as he uttered the final words she will ever hear. I wish it could have been 'Only Cat', but oh well, still a spectacular ending to the episode.

Mockingbird. S4 EP7 review.
mohammedadallawati27 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Soundtrack : (9.2/10) Dialogue : (9.5/10) Story : (9.6/10) Cinematography : (9/10) Character Development : (9.4/10) Conflict : (9.5/10) Excitement : (9.1/10) Reasonableness : (9.6/10) Overall : (9.4/10)

Pros :
  • A solid beginning to the episode. I always adored Jaime and Tyrion's relationship.

  • meeting The Mountain again with a new actor. A better actor in my opinion.

  • Arya is developing with the Hound. And in this episode, the Hound develops as well. I love how he lets Arya treats his injury and tells her about his burned face.

  • Tyrion searches for a champion. Bronn's scene with him is wholesome. I love that the champion is someone we never expected him to be.

  • Hotpie is fun. Podrick and Brienne are great as well.

  • Surprisingly, Oberyn declares himself as the champion. What a great scene. Him telling Tyrion about their first meeting is pure joy. The scene was sooo well written. Everything was perfect.

  • I hate Robin. Seeing him get slapped is so satisfying. Baelish bleeds great dialogue as usual. Lysa gets crazier every day. The ending was shocking. Baelish with a stunning move killing Lysa. An epic ending to the episode.

Cons :
  • I never really cared about Celyse. Her scenes are dull. There is nothing interesting about her. Although the ending of that scene was good.

  • I think it would've been better if the reveal of Jon Arryn's death was in this episode rather in episode 4.

Lives up to the previous episode in a compelling way
Mockingbird is another classic episode. Not only does it live up to the previous episode in a compelling way, but it raises the stakes to what would happen if one person can win the combat to either spare Tyrion or sentence him to death.

The storyline's still compelling, the writing is still superb, the performances still shine especially Peter Dinklage who continues to make Tyrion Lannister more believable, the pacing's great and never drags, the editing and directing are sharp and crisp, the scenery and sets along with the costumes are still neat, and the music score from Ramin Djawadi is even more terrific and suited the combat sequence really well the same way he did for the action in the previous episode. So, overall, another classic episode that engaged me. Thumbs up! :)

Just can't get enough
ahmed_dfsf20 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I'm kinda late writing this review so, I will try to cover up as much as I can and as fast as I can. The episode begins with another amazing dialogue exchange between the two Lannister brothers Peter and Nickolaj, The "Golden son" won't be able to fight for his little brother, because "the kingslayer" is cripple now and according to him he can't even slay a pigeon. Well Tyrion's only hope left is the sell sword made knight , Bronn . Oh well, destiny's a B-word . And Cersei has her hands tied up where ever she can, The turns in the show , the happenings we don't expect the strange outcomes , that gives the real grace to the Game O' Thrones. So about Bronn , he is about to marry a Lollys stokeworth and he wishes to become the lord there. Also the last few words between the two friends were kinda sad. Therefore Tyrion's gotta fight The Mountain by himself, who has just arrived in the capital on the "mother of madness'" demand . Talking about the mountain , who hates him the most? Yes that's right the Red Viper Oberyn Martell, The Dornish prince whose sister and her children were murdered by the big brother Clegane. After the amazing little thought exchange between Tyrion and Oberyn , he decides to become the champion for the little Lannister to exact vengeance on the Mountain. The happiness flows through the dwarf cause he just got one of the best fighters in the Westeros on his side.

The landscapes where they shot the travels of The Hound and Arya are fascinating. Also every scene played by Maisie Williams and Rory McCann is just outstanding. I always kinda hope to wait for the little talk between the two which is just amazingly scripted and played.

Daario, got what Jorah couldn't . The guy has charm and more over he has guts. So I think he made out with Daenerys which was well, we all kinda knew it was coming. But poor Ser friendzoned Mormont could do nothing but watch Daario walk out of her personal quarters, so Jorah talks to Daenerys about some Yunkai stuff and so on and she decides to do as he said.

I will wrap things up by the main event of the episode."The not so little finger" Petyr Baelish . Did Petyr just kiss the Stark girl? Holy S-word, dude she is at the age of being your daughter . This guy is crazy as *#$@ . So the loving wife to Petyr and the Aunt to Sansa witnesses the moment, calls the girl and is about to make her fly through the moon door , when the Saviour arrives . He loved only one woman and that was the other Tully girl, pushes the aunt through the moon door , with this Petyr's list of "Blood on my hands" is increased by plus one.

Overall the episode was EPIC as ever, the more I watch the show the more I can't get enough , even though I have read all the books, but watching these guys and girls come alive and played by the outstanding cast is just heart warming. I love this show and it'll be really sad to witness the end of this season after another three weeks. But I hope the next book comes out ASAP so we can all hook up with the GOT madness again.

This episode is magnificent!

Warning: Spoilers
Hi guys i think it would surprise you guys when you see that i am from Afghanistan a country which i don't wanna know how you guys describe it but i am a die hard fan of GOT, you guys don't know that i waited 13 hrs to download a small size episode. This is my first review and its not for anything else but all about this episode, i cant tell how much i love this episode, its totally magnificent according to me. It's that sort of episode where you say to yourself that: this episode is better than lots of other series finale i have ever witnessed. I cannot describe my OMG moments in words for this episode. For me Oberyn Martel was the biggest moments of my OMG, even more than Littlefinger moments.

I think next episode would be much about Littlefinger and Tyrion. Well i guess we all have to survive until 1 Jun. 2014.

Not an episode to mock
TheLittleSongbird3 February 2018
Came to 'Game of Thrones' fairly late in the game and due to being so busy the binge-watching was gradual. Have found myself truly loving the show, very quickly becoming one of my favourites. It totally lives up to the hype and not only does it do the brilliant source material justice (a rarity in television) it is on its own merits one of the finest, most addictive and consistently compelling shows in recent years and quality-wise it puts a lot of films in recent years to shame.

Season 4 was a great season with none of the episodes being less than very good. Even thought "Oathkeeper" was great, regardless of its treatment of the source material that upset a number of fans. Alongside "The Lion and the Rose" and "The Laws of Gods and Men", "Mockingbird" is one of the season's best.

"Mockingbird" does mainly set up what is to follow, and it does that brilliantly. But it doesn't feel like an episode that does just that and nothing else, there is much more to "Mockingbird" than just set up and filler. It is also an episode that is surprising, suspenseful and emotional with a good deal going on without feeling that there is too much of it.

Although all the cast are superb, with not a weak link, once again Peter Dinklage is particularly brilliant. His performance may not quite be the powerhouse than in "The Laws of Gods and Men", but Dinklage does prove why he is a fan favourite and one of the main reasons why 'Game of Thrones' is as popular as it is.

Visually, "Mockingbird" looks amazing, as one would expect for 'Game of Thrones'. The scenery is throughout spectacular, the sets are hugely atmospheric and beautiful on the eyes with a real meticulous eye for detail and the costumes suit the characters to a tee. The make-up is beautifully done. The visual effects are some of the best of any television programme and are not overused or abused, the scale, the detail and how they actually have character and soul are better than those in a lot of the big-budget blockbusters. As well the cinematography and editing, which are cinematic quality as well.

One cannot talk about "Mockingbird" without mentioning the thematically, orchestrally and atmospherically multi-layered music scoring and the unforgettable main theme. Again, worthy of a high-budget fantasy/action/drama film.

It is hard not to be bowled over by the quality of the writing, outstanding isn't a strong enough adjective to describe how good the writing is once again. It always has a natural flow, is layered and thought-provoking and demonstrates a wide range of emotions such as suspenseful tension, poignant pathos and witty humour. The story is paced beautifully, structured with such nuance and attention to coherence, a high emotional level and is done with intelligence, passion and sensitivity.

In summary, wonderful. 10/10 Bethany Cox

An epic episode with big twists
anirudha13619 May 2014
This episode again steals the show with the awesome acting of Peter Dinklage and Maisie Williams.Although some of the characters seems to be weak but the story line keeps you the the edge of the seat. Also the ability of GRRM to create the suspense and end it in the most unexpected way makes us feel that he is unique in the art of story telling. The reappearance of the red-women Malisandre and her dialog pushes the story deeper and to more complicated plots. The number of different plots also increases but its admirable that the director has managed to keep most of them covered in this episode. The twists are bloomed by the previous episodes content. The link of the episode to unexpected characters makes it more interesting. All the acts and scenes prove their significance with its epitomized direction. The chemistry of Daario adds to some extent of unsatisfaction but is well handled by Jorah. The only thing that I think is missing in this episode is the absence of Bran and company. But at the end it was perfect with the masterstroke of LittleFinger.Viva la GOT!!!!

New alliances are formed, others strengthened, but being this is Game of Thrones there is always someone willing, and ready, to back-stab.
Amari-Sali19 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
As we creep further and further toward the finale, you are left wondering if The Purple Wedding will be the sole big event of the season. Well, from what it seems, this may not be so. For with a few major events in this episode, we are assured some good combat, as well as uneasy alliances. But, will any of it cumulate into something epic? Well, only time will tell.

Topic 1: The Situation at the Wall – Jon Snow

With Jon Snow returning triumphantly, Ser Alliser has failed his first attempt to rid himself of Jon Snow. To make things worse though, with Jon's return comes the recommendation to seal off the tunnel which leads to the north. Sealing off this tunnel would make it harder for the Wildlings, but destroy a major pathway. So, Alliser naturally is against this and is quick to note Jon is a steward and not a builder, so he decides to ask the builder commander his opinion, and the builder replies that his isn't a good idea.

So, to add insult to rejection, Jon is forced to keep watch during the night for Wildlings, as it seems Castle Black remains vulnerable.

Topic 2: The Queen's Orders - Daenerys

As usual, Daario Naharis flirts with Daenerys, but this time is different. In what can be seen as a slightly odd move, Daenerys takes to Daario's loyalty and words, and asks him to strip. And seemingly, the next morning when Daario leaves, and informs Ser Jorah the queen is in a good move, we can only assume they slept together. Be it so he would shut up, her needing sex, or simply because she realizes he would be far more loyal, and perhaps powerful, if he believed he had something, or rather someone, to fight for.

Either way, Ser Jorah isn't the fondest of the relationship, but Daenerys reassures him that she doesn't fully trust Daario, but seemingly recognizes his worth. Enough so that he is to go to Yunkai to reclaim the city, and kill the masters. Leading to Ser Jorah to repeat Ser Barristan warning that perhaps Daenerys need try mercy. For, after all, if Lord Stark didn't show him mercy, he wouldn't be standing where he is today. And with this, Ser Jorah breaks through to Daenerys and convinces her to give an ultimatum to the masters who can either accept her rule, or die.

Topic 3: Odd Alliances – Arya/ The Hound; Sansa/ Lord Baelish; Tyrion/ Oberyn

With Arya and The Hound, there is this weird relationship which goes from Arya wanting to kill The Hound, to her acting like his mentee. In this episode, that mentee/ mentor relationship is seen with The Hound teaching her where to pierce Needle to stab someone in the heart, helping her get a new kill. But, the cute part of their interaction comes with The Hound opening himself up to her on why he fears fire, much less how bad his relationship is with his brother. With this, while there isn't a Tyrion level performance, you do see The Hound develop just the slightest bit.

As for sister Sansa, the Vale has allowed her peace, and some form of happiness, for she can roam as she pleases and is surrounded by extended family. Issue is though, with Lysa's jealousy and Robin being a Joffrey in the making, things seemingly could only be perfect for a limited time basis. Of which, seemingly Petyr decides to be the one which sets the bomb off for he decides to kiss Sansa. The reason? Well, being that he loved Catelyn, and now only has Sansa, I guess having her daughter beats not having her at all. But what makes the whole situation weird is that before the kiss he talks about how if things were different, Sansa would have been his daughter.

But that situation isn't the only one which makes Lysa fuming mad. The 2nd sign that the happy moments are to be over is when Sansa realizes how immature Robin is. You see, Sansa decides to rebuild Winterfell out of snow to remind herself of home, and while Robin first seems sweet in his own way by talking about how life will be when they are married and how he will kill her enemies upon a word, with his lack of understanding on how Winterfell doesn't have a moon door comes him showing his age. He tries to fix Sansa's snow creation and ends up upsetting her, and he takes enough offense to this for them to have a verbal altercation which ends in her slapping him. Something Lysa doesn't take note of when she confronts Sansa, for Peytr kissing her is far more important. Unfortunately for Lysa though, Petyr's loyalty is more to the Catelyn and Sansa than her, so she is thrown down into the moon door and dies.

Leaving us with Tyrion. With two prospective champions, both Bron and his brother saying they can't help, it seems Tyrion is to fight a man known as "The Mountain" himself. But then Oberyn steps in and speaks on how he first met Tyrion when he was a baby. He speaks on the rumors of this monstrous looking creature that Cersei hyped up, and upon realizing Tyrion was just a big headed baby, not only was he disappointed, but seemingly took pity on Tyrion. And be it that Tyrion isn't considered to be like the rest of the Lannisters, or Oberyn just wants to make a scene, he proclaims he will be Tyrion's champion, and the scene between them, having someone show kindness to Tyrion with nothing to gain and all to lose, is quite a tear jerker. Further proving that Peter Dinklage is truly the highlight of the show, and anyone who gets to have a scene with him is extremely lucky.

Some gems
Leofwine_draca3 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't expecting to like this episode as much, as it's generally one of those 'filler' episodes, but it turns out to be very good too. The material with Tyrion in his cell is GAME OF THRONES at its most basic - two characters chatting in an enclosed backdrop, but the quality of the performances is phenomenal. Elsewhere, the scenes with the Hound and Arya are extremely touching and unexpected, but the real winner are the scenes set at the Eyrie, with Littlefinger at his most scheming and dastardly best.

Another Masterful Set Up Again
Hitchcoc12 June 2015
My goodness this is a great series! It is amazing that when an episode isn't as good as another, it is still better than just about everything else on TV. Of course, the focus is Tyrion, who must now find a champion, someone who is willing to risk his life for the little guy. Jaime has already laid into him for his rant against Cersei and Tyrin and the betrayal of Shae. You can't blame them when you see the giant they are going to have to face. Meanwhile, Sansa and Littlefinger are finding their ways at the Ayrie with that goofball woman and her wimpy son. Arya and the Hound are the odd couple. He is attacked and bitten and this is going to be something we know is going to have an issue with. His fear of fire is possibly going to be the death of him. Dany get in the sack with her new guy. Brienne is without a doubt one of the neatest characters. She is showing some weakness at times. She and Pod must really appear strange together.

Make them fly!
AvionPrince1629 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So we know who is gonna fight for justice: Oberyn Martell for Tyrion and Clegane for Cersei. I dont know how Oberyn will do to win the challenge and to have the revenge he seeks for his sister. We see Daenerys with Daario who was pretty hot ( he showed his body completely naked). And we see that che completely want to reduce the slavery. Brienne know for Arya and that she maybe want to find her before Sansa. Also Sansa get kissed by Littlefinger that make Lysa mad and we can witness the whole jealousy and we can understand that she never had the attention she wanted from Littlefinger and this man killed her by making her fly. It was pretty cruel and made Littlefinger a guy pretty dangerous and unpredictable in his intentions: does he want to have sex with Sansa now? Just because she made him remember Catelyn? It was really tense and i enjoyed the moments. It was really interesting to see. Im really excited to see the fight and how Martell will manage to find the revenge he wants. Need to see more. Sound exciting for the next events.

Call me Petyr
dannylee-7808228 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1. Daenerys gets laid 2. Oberyn is Tyrion's champion 3. Petyr kisses Sansa

I knew that Daenerys would eventually get laid with Daario - there has always been a romantic undertone between them. Shame that they changed actors because I think the previous actor had a more "exotic" look. On top of that, she is getting her ruling 101 lessons, which just seems like difficult ethical decision making all the time. Daenerys so far is one of the more ideal rulers of Westeros and I can't wait for the day she sits on the Iron Throne.

I like the plot that Oberyn fights for Tyrion - it makes total sense. Dumb of me to assume that he was Joffrey's killer in the beginning. Maybe that was purposeful. I love the relationship between Sandor and Arya - it's very heartwarming. He's an exile like Arya and he's slowly opening up to her and be vulnerable, which is a rare event for Sandor. Was really glad to see "Hot Pie" again (didn't know he was never officially named), but thankfully he led to the right direction with Arya and Sansa. They should all converge at Eyrie, but now that Lysa is dead (a death I am very glad about), what will happen? Will Sansa fall in love with Petyr?

Great episode overall! A standard GoT episode, which means it's great.

Im amazed how this show gets better and better
GusherPop2 March 2023
Fewer characters for longer also creates for smoother transitions between scenes; for example, Dany's hook-up with Daario 2.0 is matched amusingly with Selyse Barratheon having an in-depth conversation with the naked Melisandre about the merits of seduction and tricking men with potions to force them to see the Red God before giving them the actual power to see the Red God at work in the flames. Even when it's a story element that isn't quite as attention-getting (Jon's political struggle at the Wall), it's more tolerable because you won't see it every week, just every couple of weeks; the Jon segments also stay long enough to gather a little steam, rather than just being a pop-up appearance. It helps, and as usual Game Of Thrones wastes no time in reminding us of the characters we'll be running into with the opening "previously on" montage. Director Alik Sakharov once again turns in a top-notch episode, as expected. The reintroduction of The Mountain is handled brilliantly, as the massive Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson just shows up with a giant sword, guts a guy (with impressive entrails spillage), kills a few other prisoners, and has a brief conversation with Cersei Lannister while being shot from below to emphasize just how gigantic he is. That visual flair continues on with Tyrion Lannister's time spent in prison. The imp gets shot in dark gray, or framed by light through the bars of his cell, and is deliberately shot to emphasize just how alone the character is. Pulling together great writing, brilliant acting, and brilliant cinematography is the wonderfully disturbing series of confrontations in the Eyrie. What starts out as surprisingly beautiful and touching-Sansa getting to enjoy a lovely snowy trip to the garden-very slowly goes out of control. She bonds with her creepy cousin/fiance Robin (Lino Facioli makes a good spoiled kid, even if he's not Joffrey) over a snow castle version of Winterfell, only for him to completely flip out and stomp the castle before getting slapped and storming off in a huff. Some emotional torment, a ruthless fight scene with Arya and the Hound dispatching Biter and Rorge, the craziness of Littlefinger, and a new champion for the Lion of Lannister and the Queen Regent... even without adding in the fun of Brienne, Pod, and the returning Hot Pie and it would have been a great episode. It just goes without saying that everything's better with Hot Pie. It's always fun to have old friends return.

The sex is so one-sided...
lady850619 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
George R.R. Martin recently defended showing sexual violence in his series because it's realistic. Well, nobody cares if it happens in real life, most people don't want to see it acted out on TV. Sexual molestation of children and men screwing animals happens in real life, too. Does that mean we should put it on TV as well? I don't think so.

So, in regards to the sex we've seen in this season so far, there has been no sex portrayed that is not sex done with violence or sex with prostitutes. In the past seasons, there have been some love making scenes, which have been 'better' alternatives, but what really angers me about this episode is that it was finally Danearys turn to get some, it was finally time for the directors and producers of this series to show sex from a woman's perspective. This is where they had an opportunity to show it in an angle from what women want, and what happens instead? Dario gets naked, and they cut the scene short right there and switched to the Red Woman's breasts. Thanks! Thanks to all the male producers who only think about their own gender and what their own gender wants when it comes to sex. From a woman's perspective, I am sick and tired of seeing another woman's naked body.

Good, not great

It's another good episode, with several interesting scenes. But as a whole it seems to lack some momentum.

An overall satisfying episode of Westerosi drama this has been.
punch8725 October 2019
This was a very full episode of Game of Thrones. Aside from a weak interlude in Dragonstone, all of the various plotlines were very engaging as the performers once again elevated their game.

A must watch episode!
mm-3921 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Mockingbird is a must see episode. Tyrion Lannister goes through a kangaroo court with set-up witnesses. Jamie tries to cut a deal with dad, which is what dad wants. Jamie as head of the family and Tyrion in exile. Tyrion Lannister expresses his opinions, and intelligences and asks to be championed. A surprise twist and a wrench is thrown into the main plot. The sub plots of John Snow and the pending fight continue. The Stark girls are still held by their two captors. A few more twists with the girls for the next three episodes. A must watch episode so you can keep up with the story line. Well written, directed and acted. I give Mocking bird a 10 out of 10.
