Interesting stories, terrible direction
crisjacobs17 December 2020
The premise is very interesting, casting is real people which makes from this series a very intriguing watch. However, the video edition is beyond irritating. Camera closes up on mouths - all.the.time. Why do they do this? Who wants to see a big mouth, teeth, skin hairs really magnifyed on TV? totally unnecessary over tge top sound effects which makes it hard to hear the families. Endless repetition of the intros, and sentences. Why?? Really bad video making.

Good show, terrible camera work

This is fascinating, worth watching as these children are absolutely amazing. My only complaint is... WHAT on earth is up with the constant, repetitive up close shots of people mouths a d faces during the interview process? Who gave that the "green light" in the editing room? Very annoying, very distracting and does take away from the watch ability factor, which is a shame because these children are special. If they do a new season FIRE THE CAMERA PERSON AND FIRE THE EDITOR.

Difficult To Rate This Show
mariannamaver-123 February 2021
I totally agree with the reviewer of 12/20. The stories of these children and their families is fascinating, believable and they fit with research done for many years by legit past life researchers such as the late Ian Stephenson and Jim Tucker at University of Virginia. But the production quality is simply terrible! The sensationalized, screechy soundtrack; the overdramatic, repetitive scripting; even the name of the series, greatly detract from these engaging tales. The creators apparently were intent on making this into some kind of a horror show. It's NOT. These are incredible human interest stories, and would have been far better presented as such. I'm happy to have watched the entire thing, and give credit to the families and those kids for having shared, but this series had the potential of being much, much richer if the creators had realized the value of the material they were working with .

I have been through this
dheaildlre22 March 2021
I am 60.....I still remember coming down to earth, what I said to my earth mother about her not being my mother.....the mother who came to visit me and hugged me when I was 5....the night terrors, etc. I have almost crossed to the other side twice in my life and am not afraid to die because I know there is another side.

Awesome series!!!

This show is awesome. I give these parents so much credit for not dismissing what their kids were telling them and doing the research to help these kids find out who they were. Heart breaking but also heart warming at the same time. Definitely recommend!!

Similar Stories Fascinate

Warning: Spoilers
This show has flown under my radar, perhaps because Lifetime is a female centric network which doesn't have many adverts placed in other networks. When I found it I quickly went through the two available seasons because there's something fascinating about a diverse group of children who all suffer from what, for lack of any other explanation, is simply haunting memories from past lives.

You don't have to believe in reincarnation to watch this show which strongly suggests that something relating to such is happening to children who, mostly, suffer painful memories of a past life. As a skeptic the best part of each case selected for episodes is the latter stages where, in most children, the people they have memories of are revealed to them. A few are high profile types while others are not. The fact that real people who these children claim to have been are almost always found by matching the knowledge of these people the children have absolutely no way to know by any rational explanation.

The heaviness of it all is kept purely topical as there's no strange things like regressive hypnotic therapy or such touched on. Science is kept almost entirely out of this focusing more on the effect it has on the families and the children themselves. At times its quite powerful to see the kids and parents tearfully telling their experiences. The show is a bit formulaic which makes one wonder if it is entirely literal. For instance, almost all of the kids get some resolution in order to leave their past persona's behind. While this keeps things light it seems by rote after seeing it so many times. Of course, as a viewer seeing real people I want them to heal and have a wonderful and normal life. But, you get the feeling that maybe the show's formula is too much the same and there may be some liberties taken by the producers. At any rate I do stand by the statement I find it fascinating viewing and hope maybe the producers get a little more adventurous in both variations in cases and in presentation. Worth a watch if like shows such as Unsolved Mysteries and other phenomenon.

Amazing Stories!!
leannemasons4 November 2020
I am hooked on this series - the stories are utterly fascinating. Especially in the cases where children are able to pinpoint accurate dates of events and find photos of their past-selves. On each of these instances there is an uncanny resemblance.

The only thing that lets this programme down is that it is clearly producer scripted in parts. Every parent when giving their narrative says "I was shocked with why happened next" or "I was amazed by what he said next"! With the obvious suspending cliff-hanger before revealing what the shocker was! This becomes tiresome, predictable and irritating after a while.

Aside from that - I hope they do another series. A very interesting watch if you're not overly sceptical and open/interested in reincarnation stories.

Interesting show, terrible camera work

There's definitely something to reincarnation. I remember when these extreme close-up's were a cameraman's fad. Glad it's over. Not crazy about close-ups of people's lips, noses, buggers, etc. VERY GROSS.

Great stories- terrible camera work
jrosc13 February 2021
I was intrigued by the stories of these families and would have continued another episode, but the camerawork, from the extreme closeups to the constant switching from one shot to another, ended up giving me a headache. Even when text was presented on the screen they tried to get artistic with that. Cheesy editing. A good documentary wouldn't try to rely on that. If you want to watch an incredible documentary watch The Keepers. Content was interesting.

Repetitive to the point of being irritating
karyku-308601 April 2021
They just keep on repeating the same clips and footage over and over again, as if they are assuming the audience is too stupid to remember. It's a great way to extend 7 minutes of worthwhile content into 30 minute episodes.

Love watching, hate the close ups
barry-1401418 February 2021
I love the show and I'm fascinated about the reincarnation and these family stories. These people are putting the reputation on the line for telling people their story. If that's not rough enough the people that film this show do these very unflattering close ups on everyone being interviewed. Not just every now then but all the time. We literally was going to stop watching the series because of these close ups but we love these stories. Our heart goes out to these families. No more close ups pretty please.

I enjoyed this.....
beverleyhunniford29 May 2021
I enjoyed this, a lockdown binge watch. I am sceptical, humans clutching at straws needing there to be something more to life than life. However, enjoyed these stories. The episodes in the first series were better than the second. Towards the last episodes you start to think they should hold a Titanic reunion. Each episode tells the story of two children. Some episodes are a bit confusing, I was getting the two stories mixed up, not sure if it was me or the production.

I'm sure TV is a big influence. I don't believe that the parents limit TV to the extent that some of them say they do. It would have been interesting if they had presented some historical accounts that predate our modern influences.

If you don't like having extreme close ups of anyone's mouth, you'll hate this show. Maybe try it in screen off format.
tazhielyn2 March 2022
Like, I'm curious who told the camera people, cinematography & the directors that extreme mouth close ups were things people needed in their lives? Did they do toothpaste or dental practice commercials before they filmed this? I'm genuinely baffled by this shot sequence. I'm not a D. D. S. So it's really not necessary for me to be able to inspect their dental hygiene...like, at all.

Clutching at straws

Warning: Spoilers
Likely to be highly intelligent children with great imaginations. Parents clutching at ghostly reincarnations then reinforcing it with their children as they grow up (to their detriment). Nonsense overall.

I love the show but have to look away from the MOUTHS
apeitsch17 January 2024
I love the show but they keep zooming the camera into peoples mouths and it is difficult to watch. I have to keep averting my eyes and it's distracting. I had to do a google search to see if I was the only one having this problem and I'm glad at least to find that a lot of other people noticed this too. I still need two hundred and eighty three characters in order to post this so please allow me to reiterate that the mouth close ups are really disturbing and I can't understand why anyone thought it was a good idea. But other than that it is a good show so maybe I will wear a mask and pretend it's a podcast.
