Inspired by real-life couple Jennifer Carter and Solomon “Sol” Chau, All My Life is the sanitized, sanded-down version of what probably would have been a very interesting documentary that wouldn’t require the sugary artificiality of a script that feels like it was written by a mall focus group recruited exclusively from customers of Williams Sonoma and Pink by Victoria’s Secret. In this narrative version, Carter (Jessica Rothe) and Chau (Harry Shum Jr.) are imagined as twenty-somethings living their lives in search of “something more” as Jennifer’s voiceover tells us upfront.
Jennifer is a student who never seems to have any professional interests; Sol works first in marketing but has a true passion for food. While out a sports bar with friends, Jennifer and Solomon bond over a margarita and decide to meet up for a run and a trip to the farmers market the next day, where they...

"Hey, if we get bad news, we should get a dog." Universal Pictures has released another official US trailer for the romantic drama All My Life, from director Marc Meyers. We also featured the UK trailer for this last week. Based on a true story, the film is about a "sweet, fun-loving, newly engaged couple" whose lives change forever when one of them is diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. Their wedding plans are thrown off and then change drastically into something else, but their story inspires "an outpouring of generosity and attention from people around the world who want to celebrate the power of love with them." Jessica Rothe stars with Harry Shum Jr as Jenn and Sol, also joined by Kyle Allen, Chrissie Fit, Jay Pharoah, Marielle Scott, and Keala Settle. This looks sweet and very lovey-dovey, but it isn't anything new we haven't seen before, despite the story...

"I didn't know how much I could love – actually love – 'till I met you." Universal UK has released an official UK trailer for the romantic drama All My Life, yet another film from director Marc Meyers. Based on a true story, the film is about a "sweet, fun-loving, newly engaged couple" whose whole life changes when one of them is diagnose with terminal liver cancer. Their wedding plans are thrown off and then change drastically, but their story inspires "an outpouring of generosity and attention from people around the world who want to celebrate the power of love with them." Jessica Rothe stars with Harry Shum Jr as Jenn and Sol, also joined by Kyle Allen, Chrissie Fit, Jay Pharoah, Marielle Scott, and Keala Settle. This looks like so many other cancer dramas, which isn't to say it isn't genuinely emotional, but it is the same "we must celebrate ...

The first female U.S. attorney general has died.
Janet Reno’s goddaughter, Gabrielle D’Alemberte, told CBS News the 78-year-old trailblazer passed away early Monday from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Reno’s niece, Daphne Webb, confirmed to CBS News that Reno died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends.

President Bill Clinton tapped Reno to become the government’s top lawyer in 1993. The Associated Press describes Reno as “one of the Clinton administration’s most recognizable and polarizing figures.”
By the time she took office, a crisis was already building at a compound in Waco, Texas. The Branch Davidian religious sect led by David Koresh was in a standoff with the FBI. Reno ordered agents to storm the property, saying she believed children were being abused. About 80 people died in the raid. Reno took full responsibility.

The title of writer/director Marc Meyers’ third feature film is a curious thing. Rather than fixate on one half of a relationship, “How He Fell in Love” instead becomes a much fuller look at how a relationship travels from casual acquaintances into unanticipated territory. With a sharp focus on an evolving relationship between Travis (Matt McGorry), an ambling part-time musician and Ellen, a married yoga studio instructor, Meyers foregoes easy judgment or condemnation to give a full view of a love with consequences.
Skillfully tracking the emotional parabola of their affair, “How He Fell in Love” gives breathing room to each stage of their interactions, beginning with their chance meeting at a wedding. As the two spend time together, casually flirting inside the yoga studio and beyond, their coded parsing of clues and discussions with friends afterwards help widen the scope of their potential romantic involvement. Early on in their friendship,...
