Separation (I) (2021)
4/10
Two genres collide and make a mess.
15 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This film is part family drama and part horror film. Throughout the film we see both gernes presented but they do not mix too well.

The plot of the film is ok. With a typical horror movie story, someone dies, the house is haunted, the family is haunted by a monster/ghost, a innocent child in the middle of it. The movie takes a while to kickstart its horror genre with majority of the first part of the film being about a family that just lost their mum that was murdered by a car. When the murderer is revealed it does not come as a surprise. There's only really like 3 of characters in the film that could of been suspects and I'm not counting the ghosts. And the one they picked out was unsatisfying and almost lazy and it does not come as a surprise. It turns out to be Samantha that killed the mum out of obsession over Jeff. I knew as soon as Samantha kissed Jeff that she was the killer, but without the kiss it was still pretty obvious.

If you look at this film as a drama and the horror side of the film is possibly a metaphor for their experience as a family and the distress a mothers death has caused. The ghost represents the hauntings that the death brought to their lives and the disturbance to Jennys' mental health maybe? Maybe the whole plot of the movie is not about a father and a daughter fighting evil, maybe the horror aspect of the film is the representations of how a parents death can affect a child. The depiction of the ghost is represented as the mother and a weird twisting, climbing celling man is who? I preferred the "crooked man" wannabe more than the mother ghost. But he wasn't utilised at all, he didn't even need to be in the film. He was an extra add-on that made this film worse. Maybe if there was even a smudge of context on him appearing twice, yes only twice in the film (and one being a post credit scene, so really only once) it would have provided the second ghost with more appeal.

The title "Separation" either means two things. 1. Its to represent the end of relationship between the mother and everyone else which is a little bit on the nose or 2. Its the separation between worlds of evil ghosts and earth BUT end scene ruins it completely.

Would of rated the film a 6 if the end scene was cut out. Post the end of the film we see a quick shot of Jeff putting a photo in Jenny's room that was burned earlier in the film of all 3 of them. Then we see the crawling, celling man come out to scare Jenny? Why? Set up a sequel, maybe but the films ending was good and "normal" for a horror film. Bad ghosts lose and family win, generic evil vs good. But that post credit scene (actually before the credits) ruins the ending, now the sequel will never be made and we are left with a cliff-hanger that didnt need to be there. Post credit scene is a call back to the scene in the comic office on the first viewing of Jeffs work where they mention the ending, and how evil always comes back for round 2 and never actually disappears.

As well as the "post end scene" the ending sequence when Jeff and Jenny are falling from a window didn't really work. So the fell and the ghost saved them? Or did they die and now they are actually in the ghosts world because that would explain "the crooked man" wannabe in the post credit scene. Would of worked way better even if the film ended before they hit the ground. Leave audience guessing what happens not leaving audience with a million question that lead back to the start of the film. The beginning and end are exactly the same. Same house, same hauntings, same atmosphere, too much of a similarity between the genres of the film. So nothing was resolved in the film, all that Jeff did was pointless? So the ghost is still haunting them besides the mother disappearing after the fall out of window?

Also I really liked the DMT experience scene with Jeff. The way the experience was portrayed was great, the visuals worked well with the plot as Jeff used it to speak to his dead wife and had a goal in mind during his "trip". The way Jeff was in and out of time basically, seeing his wife hit by a car, seeing the red overlay on the world, maybe creating a bridge between realities by opening his mind with DMT and managing to speak to his wife.

Overall the movie is mediocre BUT after a slow beginning it finally gets into some sort of rhythm and gets totally ruined by the ending.

-if you are a horror fan i would pass on this film as it doesn't really classify as a traditional horror film and is not scary at all.

Krampus (I) (2015)
5/10
Good merge between Halloween and Christmas
3 December 2023
This film is set up pretty good with the family all together on Christmas, all sort of hating each other and only hanging out because they are family. These arguments causes Krampus to start haunting these guys.

The in-laws were the most unlikable characters in this film. Theres nothing good about them expect for the gun guy who had the only line I found acceptably funny. The rest of the jokes, and comedy tries are terrible, misplaced or just corny and dont fit in with the film.

The movies setting is mostly set in the house as theres a blizzard outside they can't get out. This setting creates almost a claustrophobic effect which worked well. No electricity so its only candle light which brings Krampus' elves and his other monsters to feel much more scary.

This film is basically horror movie 101 its basic and pretty predictable. Its basically like a home invasion film with a evil santa. The ending is very weak and unsatisfying.

Little cookie ginger bread men were amazing best part of the film. The rest of the helpers were pretty bad, except the jack box thing that opened its mouth like Pennywise and ate a kid. The CGI is decent in this film with Krampus being the highlight, we see him up close close to the end but I feel like it would of been better if he was more of a mystery. Seeing him close in the dark next to the grandma was great, his long sharp claws without seeing his face was better.

First time we see Krampus was great. Him on the rooftop jumping from one house to another. All we can see is the dark outline of him and that was the most scary part of the film, creepy, huge thing with horns jumping on roofs.

With all its flaws its one of the better Christmas horror films out there. I'd recommend it.

Rare Exports (2010)

Great concept which was poorly executed
3 December 2023
Whole films idea is pretty great. Dark origins of Santa being a demon instead of a fat man delivering present. I wouldnt say this is even a horror, it only features some horror aspects. As well as its 15 age rating could be easily dropped down to 12 but you do see a lot of santas elfes, which are old men naked so thats why its a 15. Apart from some nudity the film doesn't feature any other gore, horror or even jumpscares. All kills happen off screen apart of one axe to the head where no blood or any sort of injury is visible.

The story is great, kid that lost his mother saves the day. Unfortunately the plot was easily predictable. And I didn't feel like the kid suddenly coming up with a great plan is a good ending, maybe if he was a little older, he seems to be 10 maybe 12 in this film. Throughout the film the kid is quiet and shut down by his dad. In the most chaotic point in the film all the adults lose their authority and kid has to step up, didnt really work for me.

The aesthetic of this film is beautifully shot in Finnish mountains, the scenery is very well done, and the little cgi it had was good.

If they were to make a remake with the same story concept I would 100% be tuning in as I loved the story of a evil Santa that kills the kids instead of being someone kids love.

57 Seconds (2023)
3/10
Morgan Freeman couldn't carry this.
13 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The concept is pretty cool, a magic ring taking you back 57 seconds, naturally he does it to benefit himself at first, wins money, gets the girl then decides to use it for good, although having the motivation from the past that will still benefit him emotionally.

Then the main plot is him taking down this pill company that his sister overdosed on. Cool sounds like good motive, but the film makes sure that the story is poorly presented. So many unanswered questions leaving each scene with more questions than answers.

The acting is decent Josh Hutcherson was good definitely deserves more leads and especially Morgan Freeman, the main reason I watched this, but it doesnt make the movie better.

The ending of this film is absolutely ridiculous and despite it being a film about a magic ring with powers, the ending was the most unbelievable part and ruined the whole film.

I wouldn't waste your time on it, unless you have nothing else to watch.

For the fans!
5 November 2023
This is not a cinematic masterpiece nor is it great. Its a fun movie that you would watch with mates or if you are a fan of FNAF.

It would have helped if it featured more gore and possibly an 18 rating this would have added the horror elements that would make a good horror film. The concept of FNAF is not very scary to me. So I don't see the film as a horror movie but more as a thriller, maybe with horror elements. A few effective jump scares throughout the film but I wouldn't say I was filled with any kind of fear. Some moments have you questioning if you are even watching a horror film as it is more light despite the plot being fairly dark.

The setting is amazing-the restaurant looks incredible, I'm sure game fans appreciated it a lot, the robots look great mixed with the sound which makes it perfect when we see them on screen, it all works so well together. As a fan of the games it really made me appreciate the film more due to these reasons.

The films "twist" is some what predictable and almost called out earlier in the film. If you are going into this film blind without any knowledge of the games then you might be more surprised.

The cast was good, Stu from Scream comes back as a creepy old guy, love it. Josh Hutcherson is great needs more recognition haven't seen him in anything big since hunger games.

Best Police show Ive seen
30 October 2023
Best police show I've seen. Good mix of tense moments where the show takes it self seriously and presents great drama elements, mixed with comedy tint that breaks the ice from the drama, action sequences.

I love the way the used the bodycam footage in the film as cameras, this added to the natural feel of the show when the characters are on duty. And made me feel as though we are there in the car with them.

Some comedy was a little bit cheesy but it didn't feel out of place, especially with the main character John Nolan. Nathan Fillion plays him extremely well. The cast is great, everyone fits in their roles well and seems to be natural at playing them.

I liked the darker elements of the show with the woman serial killer, it was slightly forced and made the show appear as a make believe more than realistic but still loved the dark approach to the show.

There are some really good cliffhangers between seasons that really made me question what happens next, cant wait for season 6.

Mayhem fans are too hard on this film
17 September 2023
I love "based on a true story" films. Although they arent 100% accurate, they give a exaggerated story. After seeing this film I tried to find as much truth to the story as I can, and found out quite a lot is true. If you look at this film just as a film it is great, im sure the fans of Mayhem will disagree.

This film is very dark wouldn't say it is a horror though. It follows the rise of the black metal band. I love films that give me chills and truly make me question their actions. In this film, from taking pictures of "Dead" after he blew his brains out to the brutal ending, it displayed people that are so invested in their craft that it made them do shocking things.

During the film we see them burning down churches and make jokes about jesus' disciples. The main character in the film actually wanted to be "jesus". As he was always referring to the band as His and wanted to be the leader. All his other members of the club were like his disciples. There was a connection between the arson and him being the face of the band and god.

Im not the biggest fan of metal music but the soundtrack for this film is amazing. It gives out dark, hellish emotions just like the film does.

I like the slight comedy undertone in some scenes, gave it a refreshing feel and displayed behaviour that would be expected from the band. A more comedic metal band film "The Dirt" is also a great based on a true story film.

The acting is solid in this film with each character providing the main cast with character development throughout.

The horror elements in this film aren't great. I wouldn't say this film is a horror film. It shows gore elements in some scenes and features a repeating horror sequence with the vision of "Dead" which worked really well and had a jumpscare hidden which startled me. But all in all I'd say it is more of a drama/ maybe thriller than a horror.

I wasnt sure what to expect from this film, I saw this recommended after I watched "The Dirt". I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Really dark, great story, great cast, the style of the film was great, each time they took a photo a polaroid shows up loved that.

Grimcutty (2022)

Grimcutty is built like Gru
16 September 2023
The whole film is bad. Like theres not much to take away from it. The plot is boring, the acting is bad, the cgi is horrible.

But I liked the idea of the plot. The film revolves around this internet challenge similar to 'MOMO'. Kids see it and kill them selves. Except its not the kids that bring it to life its the parents. The monster is fed by the parents' fear. Which is a very cool concept as parents would never believe their kids about some monster chasing them because they are worried about their internet use.

This should be PG horror film, 12 age rating at the highest. Apart from suicidal ideation, this film has nothing else. The gore is barely visible, the monster is not scary at all and the horror elements are weak; I've seen scarier in Toy Story.

The monster 'Grimcutty' is built like Gru. I was laughing every time he was on screen. If the cgi was better for the monster it could of been terrifying. With its long limbs and thick body with a huge creepy face and its huge gaping mouth with sharp teeth. But it was not, it looked like one of those masks you can get on amazon for 20 quid.

Scrapper (2023)
6/10
Good British Drama
16 September 2023
This film is a great mix of comedy and drama. The slight comedy element in the right places brakes the mood in the film so it doesn't become too depressing. When we meet the 'spiders' the sequence is made to look like pov of the kid. Her imagination brought into the film.

The film explores emotions and friendship, between the main character (the girl) and her friend and her relationship with her 'new' dad. It is about learning to accept the past and moving on, living your own life without the past affecting it.

The performance from the young actress is great she played her character really well. As her character is fighting the acceptance of her mothers passing, she is living completely independently.

This is the directors feature film debut. And its a strong debut, definitely looking forward to her next film. If you liked this film she has plenty of other short films on youtube which are worth watching.

As there are less dramas now like 'Scrapper' I'd recommend watching it.

Blood Red Sky (2021)

Mid.
15 September 2023
The four stars are for:

2 stars for makeup which was great. One thing this film managed to do greatly, with the makeup for the vampires and the blood, all the gore looked great. The vampires in the film are stunning. The bold main lady is the best part, as her appearance slightly changes throughout the film.

1 star for Lincoln Burrows although he didn't have a major part, wish he was in the film way more, I think he played in his role well, again although he didn't say or do that much, not a lot of screen time. Loved him in prison break.

1 star for the story. I found the idea very interesting, but with a poor execution was quickly disappointed. The majority of the film is within the plane, they use the space very well without making it too repetitive. With the whole evil vs hijacking worked well but felt a little bit meh, not sure how else to describe it, people had guns and were killing find people for some reason? And the evil vampire eating them... idk not my thing

Fun ish movie, went on for too long, the makeup was cool, eh watch it as last resort or if you like vampires.

Office Space (1999)

Never worked in an office and never will after this film.
11 September 2023
I don't hear many people talking about this film although I think they should. It's a good comedy with plenty of funny moments.

The way it portrayed the boring and repetitive life of working in an office was clever. Without the film getting repetitive and boring the story kept flowing. With several funny and unique characters introduced each of them having their own breakdown at some point. I especially loved Milton character who saves the day for the main cast, Stephen Roots played the awkward and mumbling all day man.

The best scene in the film is when the main character Peter has the dream of his boss having sex with the waitress he's seeing, mid way he stops to take a gulp of his coffee. I found that hilarious how he would be the same person in bed as he is at work, his 'catchphrase' "what's happening" got on my nerves in a good way as i felt like if i heard him say that every day I would go insane very quick.

This films first half was amazing i loved every minute of it but the second half where they decide to rip off the company felt a little out of place. I felt like ending was slightly rushed. The ending of the film was still good don't get me wrong but I felt like they could of done something else that would give a more satisfying ending.

But as someone who never worked in an office, this film makes me not want to work in an office even more.

If you ever worked in an office you have to watch this film as i feel like it will relate a lot and will be even funnier.

The Revenant (I) (2009)
7/10
Deserves more credit
11 September 2023
There are plenty of bad low budget films, especially in horror films. Although this isn't a proper horror film it can still be in that category with all the gore and zombie film elements. The special effects were great with the make up on the zombie/vampire creatures looked really good, I liked the addition of the eyes. And the mexican guy that came back to life with his face eaten by fish looked fantastic.

The pacing of the film is slightly off but the movie does pick up in the second half, turning into a sort of action film with killing montages.

The comedy in the film is good although I feel like could of had more, It could of used more physical comedy just like at the start of the film when the main character gets hit with a metal bat, it fitted well into the style of the film.

I also really liked the ending of the film, setting up a possible sequel (that will probably never happen). During the film I couldn't figure out how it is going to end, something that would give me a satisfying ending but it managed to do just that.

Overall a good, fun watch and considering its unique approach to the whole rising from the dead idea it definitely deserves more credit.

I Want a sequel directed by Lee Cronin!
1 September 2023
This film gives so much to talk about. Its cinematography is amazing, the pacing of the film is perfect it goes by so quickly with every scene being great thanks to the strong cast. The visual effects are top notch everything about the cgi was great. The gore of course which it had plenty, was disgusting and gruesome just like Evil Dead films should be.

The way the evil is summoned is very clever and fresh. The brother is shown practicing his DJ skills at the start and later finds old vinyl records which he plays. Very cool concept.

The work that was done on Alyssa Sutherland, the mother in the film, is incredible, the voice, the details on her skin and face, her acting all were 10/10. The sequence you see teased in the trailer, where she is looking through the peep hole is one of my favourites in all horror movies, it's directed perfectly and gives the film a unique sequence.

The film does a great job with the setting and the location. Moving on from the original in this film instead of the cabin it is an old, cheap, barely occupied apartment building. I was sceptical at first when saw the trailer and didn't see the good old cabin but it surprised me and gave the Evil Dead franchise a fresh feel, a sort of reinvention of the story.

The opening and closing sequence were out of place. It had nothing to do with the story of the main characters. It was still great and I enjoyed it but it felt like a trial at paying homage to the original films that were filmed in the woods, but it didn't add anything to the story and should of simply being cut out, or use the closing sequence to tease a sequel. One great thing from the opening sequence is the title card reveal, that was just beautifully and creatively done. One of the best title cards I've seen

With all prior Evil Dead films we saw girlfriends and boyfriends or friends fighting this evil but in this new instalments we see all a family trying to protect each other by killing off their own blood relatives. It gives the film more emotional value as they have to find the courage to kill someone they love and care about in a family setting.

Although this movie had plenty of gore elements with plenty of blood and dismemberments it still didn't beat the 2013 remake. The 2013 remake gave us a whole other level of gore, it provided us with pure disgust and squeamish scenes.

Another thing that sort of let me down about this film is that they cut down on explicit one liners. There were a few in this film but compared to the originals and the remake and even the tv show (which if you haven't seen watch its fkn amazing). I feel like Evil Dead should have plenty of gore, plenty of horror elements and what I feel like makes the Evil Dead unique is the spirits ways to get under your skin, with the use of phrases and one liners with various insults and plenty of swearing. Was disappointed there weren't more of them but I guess it might be something to do with some of the main characters being younger.

All together this is a great addition to the franchise, love it, watch it.

The Boogeyman (I) (2023)
7/10
Good film but nothing amazing
31 August 2023
This whole film is a good horror film, but it does not surprise you with anything new. The plot is your regular horror movie cliché of monster in the closet, there's a monster killing emotionally vulnerable people, in this case children. What this film does archive is the impact of the dysfunctional family setting. None of them communicating with each other after their mothers death they all seem quite distant and holding their problems inside. Despite their dad being a therapist he does the same thing. This emotional vulnerability adds to the weight of the Boogeyman story as one of the quotes is "it comes for your kids when you are not paying attention"

The actual Boogeyman monster is very well done, the way it creeps around the house we see glimpses of him. When he is copying a voice I found that the most creepy as you can still hear quiet shrieks almost like voice breaks and you can tell that its not a human. The design of the monster is something that will stick in my memory don't think I've seen a similar monster before. Very cool design for him.

Most jumpscares were predictable but some were well placed and unexpected, but unfortunately those were the ones in the older sisters dreams. The film was not particularly scary but had plenty of suspenseful shots where you can feel the monster lurking in the shadows.

Some holes in the plot revolve around dumb things like, If the monster only stays in the dark why do they never turn on the light in the house? Why does she pick up a hockey stick instead of something heavier and more deadly to a thing that can literally rip her apart. The older sisters friend dynamic was weird, even though there seemed to be only one good friend how come she didn't pick up on her acting really weird and off.

If you are a horror fan or not this a good film. It revolves around the basics of the genre but does it well. Plus its based of Stephens Kings story so makes even better.

Enemy (2013)
8/10
Not everyones cup of tea but a masterpiece.
25 August 2023
Great film that makes you think about everything. Throughout the film different clues and detail are hidden or displayed to help you understand the ending of the film. This is one of those films that leaves you with plenty of questions and will lead you to an explaining video on youtube.

On my first watch the ending of the film made zero sense. It is so unexpected that it catches you off guard, but once the ending is explained it makes perfect sense and is very creative. The CGI and sound mix in the end is amazing.

I liked the drab-yellow looking filter the film had, gives more emotion to the film and represent how the characters are feeling.

The acting in the film is great because it's Jake Gyllenhaal. This was made by the same director that made "Prisoners", another great mystery thriller with Hugh Jackman and Jake.

This film makes you think of every single detail in order to understand the meaning behind the spiders, the doppelganger etc. This film is not for everyone and is definitely not a mainstream feature but it is more of a unconventional art film which was beautifully shot and directed.

Recommend.

Cobweb (2023)
5/10
Very promising starts continued by a lazy ending.
21 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
When I saw the trailer for this film I was so excited to see it. With the title being "cobweb" I expected scenes with spiders that create fear and horror but was utterly wrong. This whole movie led up to a terrifying end. The setup for the monster in the end was really clever, with the sound and editing enhancing the build up I was waiting for in the ending, but was quickly disappointed.

The reveal of the monster was nicely done with it appearing in few quick shots killing off its victims, but the actual reveal of the monster was weak, quick and lazy conclusion of its fate. The face of the monster is horrible, CGI does hold up in this film until we see the face of it.

The ending ruined the whole film. Classic horror movie ending with the monster being suddenly beaten up by people who it was easily killing off the entire last sequence. Suddenly it became much weaker and easily stopped. The end does however set up for a possible sequel which if it does I will 100% look forward to it as I enjoyed the first half of the film up until the last 20 mins or so, just as long as the script is improved towards a satisfying ending as well as the CGI.

This film gave me Hereditary vibes as it builds up on dark, psychological horror for the first half of the film using a dysfunctional family with two sinister parents that some what abuse their kid and the last part is the sheer chaos horror with the monster chasing around the house.

Overall the movie was enjoyable but completely ruined by the ending.

The Passenger (III) (2023)

What is going on? So many unanswered questions.
20 August 2023
Very interesting concept of a psychopath feeling bad for a sad young kid who he decides to take "under his wing" or hold him hostage I wasn't sure how he felt about him in the end. Through out the entire film I kept wondering what is going on. Why is all the killing happening and why didn't he kill Randy? So many unanswered questions in this film.

The characters were shallow with not much backstory apart from the main character Randy, even his life story wasn't explained in that much detail and mostly explained in a casual conversation. Not much is explained in this film, its more like we are just thrown into this scenario and tagging along. We know as much as we see and nothing more.

The acting was good in this film, the two main characters are an amazing pair. Two opposites - one is a terrified kid and the other is a psychopath. Both portrayed their characters well.

The concept for the film is not clear, in the opening scene in the diner the killings begin and after that he never explains why he did it or what made him do it.

The shooting scenes were really well put together, great use of CGI and great gore elements. CGI and acting are the only thing I enjoyed about this film the rest is a mess and the story doesn't come to a good conclusion

I'd recommend watching this film just because of sheer confusion I had watching it.

Richard Brake is underrated!
20 August 2023
This is your typical slasher horror film with plenty of gore elements and the concept of escaping a deadly game.

The whole concept of the film is never explained. The backstory to why the game is in place or how they recruit their murderers, it shoots you straight into it with zero explanation. This film is a fun one to watch with your friends and point out silly things and laugh about them.

The cast is weak and no amazing performances apart from Doom Head portrayed by Richard Brake who is a phenomenal actor in a psychotic roles. He played a small role in the film "Barbarian" which is a great film recommend you go watch it if you haven't its 10/10.

The opening scene is a monologue from Doom Head which creates a very strong opening to the film, it got me very exited for the film expecting big things but in the end was disappointing. I expected that he would be the main antagonist but he is only in the film for the ending which was also disappointing and unsatisfying.

Some of the scene transitions felt like a powerpoint slide change which didnt fit into the style of the film. Possibly it was meant to be some sort of a comic book transition but it really didint work and felt out of place.

The jump scares were mild and predictable. All the fight scenes were horribly filmed in handicam with most shots being blurry and I had no idea who was winning or losing, the camera movement was too chaotic.

With everything considered I highly rate Rob Zombie as a horror film director and he has his particular style to his films. This had a very cool concept although it was nothing new, it was simply executed poorly.

Gran Turismo (2023)

Really good sport drama!
12 August 2023
Whole film is very immersive The game elements introduced in the film are amazing with the path lines on the track and the position of the car. Although the freeze frames for the position were overused and would suit better to have a smooth position indicator on top of the car during the race. The police chase at the start was a perfect display of game interpretation in real life.

The acting was mediocre at the start but main cast overtook the show after David Harbour was introduced. The emotional scenes were great creating heartfelt moments.

The cinematic of this film was beautifully shot, with drone shots during the races most impactful.

The training montages could have been longer to emphasise on how hard it is to physically train to be in a real life race, the montages were short and uneventful.

As well as this is based on a true story creates even more meaning behind the film, definitely recommend it!

Too clever and slightly too long
6 August 2023
Film is really good! Recommend it highly but for me the quantum physics stuff was too smart didn't understand some parts. And it was too long for me some scenes stretched out for too long.

Apart from that the movie is one of my favourite true stories. The bomb explosion was amazing 10/10 visually and audibly it was fantastic. Of Course way better in cinema with the loud bomb which immerses you even deeper.

The acting from Cillian Murphy is Oscar worthy. The whole casting was done perfectly. Loved RDJ being a part of this film shows how good of an actor he is. And also was nice seeing Einstein in the film.

Definitely a must watch!

Hellboy (2019)
6/10
Its OK but its got potential
1 March 2023
We know that new reboot of Hellboy is coming so we probably won't see David Harbour as Hellboy which is a shame coz love the actor. Although sometimes the words were very mumbled still wanna see him do it again.

Some cgi was a bit choppy. The gore and the other visuals were clean. I recon it gets too much hate on cgi really wasn't that bad.

The final battle was terrible. The ending of the movie sucks. The build up was good everything was leading to big fight in the end, good vs evil and instead they talk for a bit. Disappointing.

The sequel tease with the Sapien is very cool but doubt we will see a sequel, hopefully the new reboot is good.

Still recommend to see good fun movie, especially if you like Hellboy.

Stranger Things (2016–2025)
10/10

24 January 2023
Stranger Things is an American science fiction horror drama television series created by the Duffer Brothers, who also serve as showrunners and are executive producers along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen. Produced by Monkey Massacre Productions and Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment, the first season was released on Netflix on July 15, 2016. Its second, third, and fourth seasons followed in October 2017, July 2019, and May and July 2022, respectively. In February 2022, the series was renewed for a fifth and final season.

Set in the 1980s, the series centers around the residents of the fictional small town of Hawkins, Indiana, as they are plagued by a hostile alternate dimension known as the "Upside Down", after a nearby human experimentation facility opens a gateway between the Upside Down and the normal world. It stars an ensemble cast including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, and Brett Gelman.

The Duffer Brothers developed Stranger Things as a mix of investigative drama and supernatural elements portrayed with horror and childlike sensibilities, while infusing references to the pop culture of the 1980s. Several thematic and directorial elements were inspired by the works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, David Lynch, Stephen King, Wes Craven and H. P. Lovecraft. They also took inspiration from experiments conducted during the Cold War and conspiracy theories involving secret government experiments.

One of Netflix's flagship series, Stranger Things has attracted record viewership on the streaming platform. The series has been critically acclaimed for its characterization, atmosphere, acting, soundtrack, directing, writing, and homages to 1980s films. It has received numerous awards and nominations.
