This year has, unfortunately, been filled with a slew of heartbreaking celebrity deaths. In October, "Friends" fans were shocked by the sudden death of Matthew Perry at age 54. Actors Richard Roundtree, Suzanne Somers, and Piper Laurie also died, as did musician Rudolph Isley.
In September, "Harry Potter" star Michael Gambon, "NCIS" actor David McCallum, musicians Steve Harwell and Jimmy Buffett, and 702 singer Irish Grinstead all died. In August, actor Arleen Sorkin, "The Price is Right" host Bob Barker, "This Is Us" actor Ron Cephas Jones, and musician DJ Casper, the man behind the 1998 party hit "Cha Cha Slide," died as well. The month before, we lost actors Angus Cloud and Paul Reubens, famed singers Tony Bennett, Sinéad O'Connor, and Jane Birkin, and musician Coco Lee. News of their deaths followed that of beloved actor Alan Arkin, who died on June 30. Also in June, reality star Anna Shay and "Everwood" actor Treat Williams died,...

The documentarian Roger Ross Williams usually establishes trust by getting a meal with his subjects before shooting. In the case of “The Super Models,” he and co-director Larissa Bills were meeting four legends.
Cindy Crawford hosted the pair at her Malibu home; Christy Turlington took them to a bookstore in Manhattan; Naomi Campbell Zoomed them from her closet. In early 2020, Crawford, Turlington, Campbell and Linda Evangelista came to Imagine Entertainment with the notion of executive producing a documentary about their reign over fashion in the 1980s and ’90s. Williams, an Oscar winner for 2009’s “Music by Prudence,” and Bills were brought in to tell their collective story of living as icons — and finding themselves as women.
And that’s how Williams ended up telling Evangelista about the House of Evangelista. On FX’s “Pose,” a group of drag ballroom performers borrow her name, and her hauteur. “I made this whole speech,...

In the 1980s, perhaps no one typified beauty, glamor, and sex appeal more than the big four, “The Super Models” —Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington. These runaway models were everywhere, and perhaps nothing epitomized their global allure more than George Michael’s steamy “Freedom” video, which featured all of these women plus Tatjana Patitz and was directed with erotic sweatiness by none other than David Fincher.

Italian film legend Gina Lollobrigida, who achieved international stardom during the 1950s and was dubbed “the most beautiful woman in the world” after the title of one of her movies, died in Rome on Monday, her agent said. She was 95.
The agent, Paola Comin, didn’t provide details. Lollobrigida had surgery in September to repair a thigh bone broken in a fall. She returned home and said she had quickly resumed walking.
A drawn portrait of the diva graced a 1954 cover of Time magazine, which likened her to a “goddess” in an article about Italian movie-making. More than a half-century later, Lollobrigida still turned heads with her brown, curly hair and statuesque figure, and preferred to be called an actress instead of the gender-neutral term actor.

Supermodel Tatjana Patitz died Wednesday at 56 from metastatic breast cancer.
Beginning in the 80s, the supermodel appeared on covers for Vogue and countless other fashion magazines.
Atypical of many models of her time, Patitz lived a quiet life in nature away from the public eye.
In Memoriam 2022: 100 Great Celebrities Who Died In 2022
Anna Wintour, Vogue‘s Global Editorial Director, said, “Tatjana was always the European symbol of chic, like Romy Schneider-meets-Monica Vitti. She was far less visible than her peers — more mysterious, more grown-up, more unattainable — and that had its own appeal.”
Patitz was born in Hamburg, Germany but raised in Sweden. Her career started when she was selected in 1983 as a finalist of the “Elite Model Look” competition. The award was a trip to Paris and a limited-time contract.
However, she didn’t rise to fame until the late 80s when she began modeling for photographer Peter Lindbergh.

Supermodel Tatjana Patitz, best known for her appearance in George Michael’s video for his monster hit “Freedom ’90,” has died at age 56. She died on Jan. 11 of breast cancer, her agent confirmed.
The German-born Patitz was considered one of the original supermodels. She entered her first modeling contest at age 17 in Stockholm, taking third place. But a session with fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh that followed launched the main part of her career.
Singer George Michael saw her in British Vogue in 1990, and subsequently cast her for his “Freedom ’90” music video alongside Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista.
“I was in my own zone,” she said of filming the “Freedom ’90” video, which didn’t see her even meet Michael. “I had to kind of slide up and down the wall for part of the day. The feel of the set was so run-down, this big, loft kind of vibe.

George Michael may be gone, but he's certainly not forgotten. The late performer sang some of the most memorable songs to come out of the late 1980s and early 1990s, but he also had a huge hand in changing the music video industry after his big hit, "Freedom." David Fincher directed the artfully shot video, which Camilla Nickerson styled the handful of models. But it wasn't just the star power of Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford that caught everyone's attention, it was also the fact that Michael was noticeably...

Zachary Quinto was more than ready for his rock and roll TV close-up on Spike’s Lip Sync Battle.
The Heroes vet enlisted Cindy Crawford (and plenty of pixelation) to help recreate George Michael’s seminal “Freedom! ’90” music video, in his friendly clash with Zoe Saldana. (Fun fact: The original video featured a lip-syncing battle of its own, so to speak, between Crawford and fellow supermodels Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz and Christy Turlington.)

Katy Perry‘s April cover for Interview Magazine was leaked yesterday so they hurriedly put up a ‘sneak peek‘ of the shot on their website to minimize damage. We’ve never seen Katy like this before and are totally enamored of this photograph. A lot of buzz on the internet has been about Amy Winehouse comparisons, because of the hair and eyeliner. We think she looks more like an early 90′s supermodel with that styling. The metallic bustier, the gloves, the earrings, the pout … she could totally be Tatjana Patitz or someone of her ilk. We also can’t wait to read the issue because the interview has been conducted by one of our favorite funny ladies, Kristen Wiig, so you know it’s going to be a hoot.

Remember when Seal expressed a hope that his split with Heidi Klum not get messy, for the sake of their young children? Apparently his ex, Tatjana Patitz, didn't get the memo, because she's gone on the record with InTouch to discuss Seal's anger issues and infidelity.
For the record, Patitz dated Seal 15 years ago for less than a year.
"He is not a nice person," she tells the mag, by way of warning Heidi not to get back together with him. "He has anger issues. He's definitely not someone whom I think fondly of now."
According to the magazine, Patitz tells Heidi, "Don't believe a word he says." She alleges that Seal cheated on her (he's admitted to infidelity in prior relationships).
Basically, Patitz thinks Heidi should stay far from her estranged hubby. "There are children involved," she adds.

Supermodel Elle MacPherson's encouraging bedroom behaviour is set to be revealed in a new tell-all book.
Former Calvin Klein model Bruce Hulse recalls his sexual encounters with MacPherson in his upcoming bed-hopping memoir Sex, Love and Fashion, scheduled for release in August.
Hulse, now married with two children, reveals a steamy hook-up with the model at the peak of his career could have turned sour if the beauty hadn't been so understanding.
The 55-year-old recounts his lacklustre performance in the bedroom with the Aussie stunner, who he says "stripped down in front of me", before he lost his sex drive.
But according to Hulse, MacPherson wasn't upset by his inability to perform, choosing instead to propose a platonic relationship.
Hulse recalls of MacPherson's response, "No worries, Bruce... Let's just be friends, then," before claiming the pair later hooked-up for one more steamy session under his parents' roof.
The book also details his exploits with beauties Paulina Porizkova, Anie MaCDowell and Tatjana Patitz.
