Kevin Costner was a rising young actor featuring in minor roles in the early 80s. The future superstar was on the verge of stardom by the mid-80s and was cast in two films that would become his breakout hits. First, he was cast in Roger Donaldson’s action thriller No Way Out. After finishing that film, he was approached by director Brian De Palma for the crime drama The Untouchables.
Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman in No Way Out
Costner was not a big name at the time but Paramount and De Palma seem to know the potential that he had. No Way Out had also not come out yet and the studio led with a generous $800,000 offer for the role of Eliot Ness in The Untouchables. Costner, knowing the responsibility of playing a real-life American hero bargained his way to increase his pay to $1 million.

If, by chance, you’ve never heard of Australian genre director Sean Byrne, you need to remedy that fact right away. While far from a household name, Byrne directed two of the best horror movies of the last twenty years – The Loved Ones in 2009 and The Devil’s Candy in 2015. The Loved Ones, in particular, is a gem, with star Robin McLeavy’s performance as high school stalker Lola, being one of the most memorable horror baddies in recent memory.
And now, it looks like Byrne is finally directing another film, with Variety revealing that he’s set to direct the horror flick Dangerous Animals, which stars Hassie Harrison (the Yellowstone girl who caused a major bunkhouse feud a few seasons back), Jai Courtney, and Josh Heuston.
Here’s what Variety has to say about the project:

Australian filmmaker Sean Byrne is two-for-two with impressive feature films The Loved Ones and The Devil’s Candy, and his next horror movie will be titled Dangerous Animals.
Variety reports today that Hassie Harrison (“Yellowstone”), Jai Courtney (Terminator Genisys) and Josh Heuston (“Heartbreak High”) will star in Dangerous Animals.
In Dangerous Animals, “Zephyr (Harrison), described as a savvy and free-spirited surfer, is abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer (Courtney). Held captive on his boat, she must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.
“The only person who realizes she is missing is new love interest Moses (Hueston), who goes looking for Zephyr, only to be caught by the deranged murderer as well.”
Mister Smith Entertainment is bringing the project to the Cannes Market.

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone was met with mixed reviews upon its premiere but the show went on to age like fine wine with its subsequent seasons. The neo-western series also got itself two prequel series, 1883 and 1923. Soon, fans will get to see two more spin-offs – 6666 and 1944 – which have already been confirmed by Paramount. Clearly, Taylor Sheridan is not coming in slow.

In a recent interview, Taylor Sheridan was asked about the level of creative freedom he has had while working with Paramount. To this, the creator of the show had nothing to say except unending praise for the former chief of Paramount, the late Robert Evans, who was responsible for some of the best movies that the company had made, including The Godfather.

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe continues to grow and evolve with more and more spin-offs on the way. Despite the end of Kevin Costner’s journey in the Western world with season 5, Sheridan seems to have no plans to end the universe with John Dutton. And Harrison Ford’s 1923 is one of the many spin-offs existing and said to be in the works.
Kevin Costner as John Dutton in Yellowstone
Starring in the prequel series, and playing the great great grand uncle of John Dutton, Ford does an impeccable job as always. Playing a character related to Costner’s Dutton, any other actor would have thought to reach out to Costner, especially given the rumored feud between Sheridan and the Yellowstone star. Yet, Ford had other plans.

As Yellowstone prepares for its final season, the show’s star, Luke Grimes, has opened up about landing his dream role, the hypocrisy of the show’s critics, and his thoughts on Kevin Costner‘s acrimonious exit. Speaking to the U.K.’s Independent, Grimes admitted it took a little while for him to grow into his role as ranch hand Kayce Dutton, the son of Costner’s John Dutton in the hit neo-Western drama. “I felt like an idiot for the first year of Yellowstone wearing a cowboy hat,” he confessed. “It takes a while before that doesn’t feel ridiculous. Now, I barely notice it.” Despite his awkwardness with his outfit, Grimes, who once lost out on the part of Edward Cullen in the Twilight movies, described his Yellowstone part as his “dream role.” “If I could have figured out my dream role at the age that I got that job,...

Kevin Costner is coming back to theaters next summer, with double the Western goodness for fans. Warner Bros. revealed on Thursday that “Horizon: An American Saga” will be a two-part western epic, with both installments releasing in theaters next summer. “Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1” will open on June 28 while “Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 2” will arrive in theaters on Aug. 16.

These two films star the “Yellowstone” icon alongside Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tatanka Means, Owen Crow Shoe, Ella Hunt and Jamie Campbell Bower.

Kenneth Branagh’s latest Agatha Christie adaptation “A Haunting in Venice” has been rattling North American theaters for a week now, signaling the start to spooky season with a packed ensemble cast featuring the likes of Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh and “Yellowstone” star Kelly Reilly.
Branagh’s players (and the director himself) weren’t able speak on behalf of the moody chamber piece due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Variety caught up with veteran producer Judy Hofflund to discuss Fey’s journey to leading lady status in a film from this era, as well as the future of Branagh’s mustachioed sleuth.
“Venice” was greenlit shortly after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. How did the release of “Death on the Nile” and the new regime take to the franchise?

CBS Studios and NBCUniversal’s Universal Studio Group have suspended a new round of overall deals due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.
On Wednesday, Disney TV joined the list of studios suspending deals, hitting the pause button on some first-look and overall pacts at 20th Television, Disney Branded Entertainment and ABC Signature. Among those affected are non-writing producing deals for actor-producers including Gina Rodriguez, Billy Porter, Mandy Moore and others who were not in active production at the time the strike began on May 2.
It’s understood that Disney’s plan is to pay assistants who work for banners that have been suspended through the end of the year. Development executives tied to suspended deals will be paid through early October. The Disney suspensions were first reported by Deadline.

Lily Gladstone got very candid about how she feels about Yellowstone.
In an interview with Vulture conducted ahead of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the Killers of the Flower Moon star opened up about how being a working actor means not always having the freedom to pick and choose material — especially if it’s slim pickings.
Over the course of her career, the actress has worked on projects by Native and non-Native writers. One project by a non-Native artist that she has a strong opinion on is Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, Paramount’s series which portrays Native Americans, calling it “delusional” and “deplorable.”
“No offense to the Native talent in that,” she added. “I auditioned several times. That’s what we had.”
The Reservation Dogs actress also explained in the profile that she thinks about which stories of Indigenous people get told and who gets to tell them, noting it can be a “double-edged sword.

A swarm of Supernatural fans joined the picket line at Warner Bros. in Los Angeles on Thursday to catch a glimpse of series creator Eric Kripke as well as the cast and other writers who had reunited in solidarity with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Other familiar faces included executive producer Rob Singer and star Misha Collins. The Winchesters stars Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger also showed up to support.
“It’s a little overwhelming. It’s very humbling, and it’s very insane,” Kripke told Deadline from the picket line as he observed the masses trying to get photos, autographs and even glimpses of the creatives behind their favorite show. “The Supernatural fandom is a majestic and terrifying force…I have to say, I sort of expected this madness, but it doesn’t change how insane it is.”

Yellowstone star Cole Hauser may be best known for getting things done around Dutton Ranch as cowboy Rip Wheeler, and now he’s giddying up morning routines with a new Western-inspired coffee and lifestyle brand.
The actor is behind Free Rein, a coffee company co-founded with longtime friends Paul Anderson, Aron Marquez and Karl Pfluger. The four entrepreneurs form an investment firm that purchased Texas-based small-batch coffee roasters Longhorn Coffee Co. in 2022, as previously reported by San Angelo Live. Saying goodbye to any show is tough, but saying goodbye to a show in its prime that had every intention of continuing is as piercing as Beth Dutton's words when you cross her or someone she cares about.
Yellowstone isn't ending because Taylor Sheridan ran out of ideas or because viewers are fleeing one of the most talked about shows in the world.
Instead, it seems the series is concluding because of behind-the-scenes drama, Even worse, we won't be getting a full season to say goodbye to the Duttons and the people in their orbit.
Whether we like it or not, we're getting the second half of Yellowstone Season 5, and that's it. Boo.
With the eleventh-hour decision to cancel the series, it's hard to be excited about the final episodes.
Check out why we think the last-ever episodes won't be as satisfying as you would expect for a show of Yellowstone's caliber.

A potential actors strike may be looming, but the 75th Primetime Emmys looks full-steam ahead, for now.
Announcing the nominations today at the historic Hollywood Athletic Club, Yvette Nicole Brown and TV Academy boss Frank Scherma read out some familiar and once again strongly tipped names including Succession, The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Ted Lasso and The White Lotus. However, it was the names and shows the past Emmy nominee and the RadicalMedia co-founder did not utter that left some hopefuls with a bad taste in their mouths this morning.
Noting that they hoped the “ongoing guild negotiations can come to equitable and swift end,” the duo did not mention the work of a Dame of the realm, a real prince, a big-screen legend or, yet again, Yellowstone.

Actor Kevin Costner, as he divorces Christine Baumgartner, has been ordered to pay more than double of his proposed amount of child support to his estranged wife.
According to FemaleFirst: “The ‘Yellowstone’ actor, 68, has been fighting his 49-year-old ex Christine Baumgartner’s demands for a fortune in monthly maintenance, but court documents have now shown Judge Thomas Anderle ruled on Tuesday (11.07.23) he must pay the handbag designer $129,755 per month to support the three children they have together – Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and 13-year-old Grace.”
“Papers obtained by Fox News also show the judge ordered Kevin to pay $200,000 in attorney’s fees and $100,000 in forensic accountancy costs.”
The couple who has been married for 18 years filed for divorce back in May, citing “irreconcilable differences” and will each be required to pay half the amount of their children’s living costs such as health care expenses, sports and extracurricular activities, according to the court papers.

"..based on a real 'CIA' program, the 'Lioness Engagement Team' was originally a way for American military personnel to search female insurgents they believed were smuggling contraband.

If you're a "Yellowstone" fan, there's a good chance your favorite character might be Rip Wheeler, the tall, dark, and totally smoldering foreman at the Dutton ranch who is easily one of the dreamiest young men to grace the Paramount series. Turns out that, shocker, I'm not the only one who thinks this about Rip — and his real-life counterpart Cole Hauser was pretty surprised at the audience's loyalty and love for the rancher.
In fact, the well-known actor doesn't think the series' showrunner, Taylor Sheridan, saw it coming either. Hauser told Town & Country in a recent interview:
"I think it surprised Taylor too. It's definitely not something that was ever on the table, that we ever discussed. In fact, I think it was quite the opposite. [Taylor] was like, 'Oh man, people are gonna think you're f***ing nuts. I wrote this scene, the way you kill this guy or burn this guy,...

Jennifer Lopez is obsessed with “Yellowstone”, just like a lot of other people.
Lopez’s husband Ben Affleck appeared on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” alongside his longtime friend and “Air” co-star Matt Damon, when he discussed Lopez’s love for the hit show.
“I’m kind of disturbed that my wife really likes ‘Yellowstone’,” Affleck joked, adding the singer was “really drawn to the romance between Cole Hauser and the woman who plays his wife.”
Hauser — who plays Rip Wheeler — appeared in 1992 flick “School Ties” with Affleck and Damon, as well as starring in the Oscar-winning 1997 film “Good Will Hunting” with them.
Affleck and Hauser also starred in 1993’s “Dazed and Confused” together.

Hauser’s Rip is married to Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton — whom Affleck said was “excellent” — on the show.

It will likely surprise precisely no one that Sylvester Stallone doesn’t boast a particularly impressive personal awards history given that he once starred in an Academy Award Best Picture winner and his films have collectively earned more than $4.5 billion in box office worldwide. While he has three Oscar nominations to his credit – two for writing and starring in “Rocky” in 1977 and a supporting nod for “Creed” in 2016 – along with Golden Globe and Critics Choice triumphs for “Creed” in ’16, the overwhelming majority of his awards attention has come by way of the Razzies.
Maybe it’s time for Stallone to receive a little more respect.
Paramount+ plans a healthy Emmy campaign for season one of its nine-episode streaming mob-themed dramedy “Tulsa King,” which stars the 76-year-old Stallone in his first foray onto the small screen. In the show that premiered last November, he portrays Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a Mafia...

“Jefferson White (Yellowstone) will star as Tom Ferrell and Adeline Rudolph (Resident Evil) will play Bobbie Jo Song” in the upcoming reboot, Deadline reports today.
Jack Kesy (The Strain, Deadpool 2) will be playing the next big screen incarnation of Hellboy, taking over from previous performers Ron Perlman and David Harbour.
