Like any list of 'top films' it is subjective and not everyone will agree on it's contents - to be clear, this is a list the films I believe to best exemplify extraordinary abilities in film making, rather than being my favorite films.
This list is fluid, as I cannot claim to have viewed even a fraction of the vast number of films that have been released; if you believe you know of a superior film for any year, please, leave the title in the comments and I will view it if I have not already.
